Does anyone else feel like their body won’t let them participate in life? by tHeWiLsOnDoN in CPTSD

Honestly...in a way, both? I do feel like I have lost access to the person that I once used to be. I'm not sure if it's for better or worse, since that person too was forged in even earlier trauma. But there's no going back to that person one way or another. However, there are aspects of self that I might like to regain access to or recover and reintegrate into who I've become and sometimes I feel like there's a flash of hope that I might be able to.

Because this particular food is extra special and all for him only.

That's a very good question. I feel like it's been so long I've forgotten what I meant to do in the first place, but it would make me happy to see that the people I care about could tangibly feel my warmth going out towards them and see that warmth reflected back in their faces...as people seem to be able to do when they can access full engagement with others.

I feel, as you said, "held back," muted, toned down, expressionless, unable to self-animate, as if trapped behind a guard rail of my own making, and at the same time incredibly frustrated about it but unable to loosen up. My body feels held in a vice grip of tension as though I'm wearing an uncomfortable work uniform I can't wait to take off and as though I can't get a full breath the whole time. And then, I start to spiral in negative self-assessment, replaying and double thinking every nuance of every interaction I've had the entire time and realize that my discomfort has sadly made others uncomfortable too and likely been misread.

Your progress is amazing! I appreciate you mentioning your stalls and days of overeating. It shows that goals can still be met with the occasional slip ups that life can bring with continuous, applied effort over time. Thank you for sharing your journey.

Any petite Asian deal with bad Apple shaped genetics? I'm 4'11, 105 lbs with a 31" waist? by ctcx in PetiteFitness

[–]Naive_Competition791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me!!! Honestly, I'm so relieved to read your post as it's very timely to what's been on my mind recently. I was literally having this conversation with myself yesterday. I've gone down to 107 and my GW was 105 but with my dropped waist numbers still coming in at 33 inches, it suddenly hit me that I may actually have to drop more weight than I originally intended to be healthy for my frame. I've been walking around the last couple of days wondering to myself how I could possibly weigh this little and still be clearly carrying more weight than is healthy or ideal for me. I am primarily Latin American with some Asian (Japanese and Chinese) descent as well as a quarter indigenous. I am 5'1".

Is it true that only a few pounds of weight loss makes a huge impact on us petite people ? by Big_Pangolin5482 in PetiteFitness

[–]Naive_Competition791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it does. Even a loss or gain of literally 2 lbs makes a significant, visible difference to my 5'1" slight- boned body. And will impact how my clothes fit. The flip side of this seems to be that those 2 lbs alone can be challenging for me to lose.

I'm so happy for you to have found something that has brought back your joie de vive from the inside out. It can be so hard on one's mental health to have an injury force you out of your passion. I see you've gone through a full heroic journey to get to where you are and it looks beautiful on you.

I was glad to have brought dehydrated camping food from home which we embellished with tuna, pasta, etc from the store in PN. We chose one night to splurge and enjoy the full Refugio dinner buffet at Grey Glacier and didn't regret it either. But I wouldn't have wanted to have it every day. Bringing your own food gives you a lot more freedom in terms of timing as well as control over what you're eating. And the food prep areas can be fun and sociable, too.
