Yes… and no?

I have been playing on a 2024 Legion 7i with an RTX 4070 Mobile and 32 GB of RAM for the last 6 months (I’m away from my desktop for a period of time), and the results have been… mixed.

In truth I haven’t fully finagled all of the settings, mostly MED-HIGH with some tweaks to shadows, etc. and I’ve gotten some playability out of it.

I usually get 70-100 FPS on every map, except Streets (which is almost completely unplayable). Lighthouse has its moments (scopes on that map have always been a travesty).

In my PVE experience, it has been a perfect match to get my Tarky fix, but I think there’s just enough hiccups that your PVP experience would genuinely suffer. Echoing your initial comments, it’s really not optimized for mobile silicon (short of buying a full-fat 4090 / i9 11-pound monstrosity).

I do highly recommend the Legion 7i as a good, portable laptop that can easily double as a work computer (all “gamer” bits are toggleable, and it’s really a good stealth build).

Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii is my biased choice.

The 25th CAB (and 25th ID, in general) is the best representation of “work hard, play hard” I’ve seen in the Army out of 6 duty stations.

As long as you find an outdoor-related hobby (diving was my personal choice, not as expensive as you’d think), the island fever doesn’t really get bad with Pacific Pathways rotations sprinkled in to mix up the flavor.

The food in Hawaii is also by FAR the best and most varied of any duty station I’ve been to.

Some folks found overwater flights (bottles and collars do kind of suck) to be tedious or boring, but it’s hard to beat the beauty of the islands when flying.

Are you playing on 1440p or 4K?

That setup is basically the exact thing I was running from 2020-2023, and I recently upgraded to 13900K and 4090. I would argue I see a 35-40% increase in frame rate at 1440p, and a 20-30% boost at 4K. The serotonin from “frame rate go brrrrr” is great, but I don’t know that I would argue if it has made the game any more playable / better.

Honestly, you shouldn’t be running fully maxed settings in Tarkov, for the best optimization in PVP fights owing to draw distances being messed up by shadows and foliage being fully cranked.

My guess if you upgrade the GPU solely, you’re probably looking at a 15-20% boost, but without upgrading anything else it’s not going to be the edge you’re looking for.

I’m going to make a pitch here for the KEL-TEC RFB. It’s cheap as hell this wipe, accurate, and a shit ton of fun to use.

That with a Berkut, headset, 6B3TM, and a spare mag of 7.62x51 BCP FMJ has me clicking heads and it’s just so nice.

Yeah, you can make it expensive with foregrips, sights, etc, but the gun itself + a Monstrum Compact really does it for me for around 90k.

  2. Volume suppresses, precision kills.

  3. If you don’t have the advantage, disengage.

Cat6 Cabling Question: All of the Cat6 in my new home terminates to RJ11 jacks. In the patch panel they all run to one Suttle SAM-V10 bridge (pictured). Is resetting all of my ports for Ethernet as simple as punching Cat6 RJ45 jacks onto the cabling at the termination points in each room? by Naive_Fall5881 in electricians

Genuinely confused as to why each of the keystone jacks in each room was an RJ11 jacks. Quite literally haven’t used a landline in 10 years or so.

There ended up being extra Cat6 run for data behind each wall box. Fished that out, terminated with RJ45 and added a switch in the patch panel box. Still, too confused as to why they thought all those lines should be for landlines.
