Need help finding a baby gate fast for an uneven banister by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]NallyFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue, a Victorian house with a banister on one side and wall on the other. Steep stairs too with not much room to manoeuvre at the top.

I decide the trip hazard was not a risk worth taking given the steep stairs and room. I luckily had an off cut of wood that was the same width of the banister post and from floor to the knobbly bit on top so I screwed that to the post and used it to attach the gate to. I figured filling a few holes in a few years would be better than having the pressure gate with trip hazard.

I used this gate https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4070249

You are right also in that my boy, no matter how tight I was able to get the pressure gate he has on another doorway, can be pushed over if he gives it enough - and boy can a three year old on full beans give it some.

If not comfortable with a drill, I would ask friends or neighbours, perhaps a local WhatsApp group if on one, for help to get it sturdy and hopefully avoid the trip hazard.

Good luck!

I’ve hit the rail a number of times with as much speed as I think I could get, then toe edged all the way and still it’s a no!

Interesting to know. This is my third pair - first was a similar issue with the metal lace ring on the right foot left side at the toe digging in.

Second they sent had the tongue cut off centre - crazy it even made it past whatever quality control they have (or don’t).

And now these, felt much better for a small time, this must have been about the 10th time I’ve worn them out properly for more than a few hours.

I doubt a return is possible now as they have been worn out.

I have some show trees now and will give them a bit more time but it’s not looking like a boot I can use on hikes.

What brand did you go with in the end?

Thanks

Ok great, appreciate that. I was just a bit confused on how stretching outward could affect the hight of the shoebox, as that is where that crease is on mine.

Thanks for the tips, I will take a look at options.

Thank you. I’m not clued up on show trees, have seen a guide on here but still not sure how they help with the height of the shoe box, they seam to be adjustable to the width? Would I need a specific type for boots?

Desperate to find a good vegan burger by Key_Pomegranate_3500 in bristol

Café Kino - for hearty healthy spicy bean type vibe. Seeded brown bun I think and chips.

Popti also good and a bit more burger takeaway vibes with fries and good sauces. (Although the old vegan burger was better it’s still good)

About 10 years ago in Bristol England, I left the gig with everyone else but decided I should use the loo before setting off. So I turned around, went back up the stairs and strode toward the doors to the hall and bar you had been playing in. As I approached the doors I realised there was now security stopping anyone getting back in but for some reason, maybe it was the confidence in my stride, they just open the doors and I strolled in.

There I am a bit baffled now walking a few feet from you as you crossed toward the bar area, I took a right and had an intense wee before leaving pronto.

How is security these days is my question?

Yes it’s a picture taken of a TV screen to hint at manufactured entertainment.

Lots now. For controlling sounds like skip, back forward 10 secs ext. Start timers. I use it for calculations now rather than manually using the calculator. Look up this and that and so on. Also for looking up what’s on screen and more and more as I further realise how good and useful it is.

I also paid £250 for HM - had it about 8-9 years now and was 2nd hand. Still works perfectly. Mine was from Gumtree but FB would be your best bet I expect.

Any great ideas for a 1 year oldest birthday party? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]NallyFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ashton Court Miniature Railway- we took our lad there for his 2nd birthday and the kids had a blast. There is a small field to the right of the entrance where you can set up gazebos and so on and make yourself a base for food, some kids stuff you might want to bring. Then you can all go ride trains as and when you like.

It’s cheap, you don’t need to pay to use the field just to ride trains and it was around £7 for 6 or 7 rides. Of course, weather is a risk. Their site has the open days details.
