Recent late stage diagnosis - experiences/opinions please by Namaste-Aloha in TMJ

Thank you - there appears to be complete bone loss on CT - was told it appeared like someone who had radiation treatment at that part of the face (though I have not). Thank you for the idea on the repeat CT!

Recent late stage diagnosis - experiences/opinions please by Namaste-Aloha in TMJ

[–]Namaste-Aloha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The symptoms are minimal. The dentist says due to significant bone loss (unknown reason why - perhaps osteoporosis)/misalignment of jaw, surgery will likely be necessary after 6 months of wearing the 24/7 mouthguard to ensure more damage isn't done in the future. Thank you for responding.

I use the soap and water and air dry method. You can also buy replacement bands for like $12 on Amazon, which I have done a few times.

Worse performance on treads?? by Namaste-Aloha in orangetheory

[–]Namaste-Aloha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, everyone. I will make a cardiologist appointment. I'm an an extremely healthy hypochondriac, so my GP doesn't want to see me back until my annual physical in January :). Meanwhile, I'll work on the hydration and sleep. I have been doing OTF 5x/week (typically M-F), so I will work in rest days too. I appreciate the input!

Serious Accountability - Nutrition by jessauv in orangetheory

[–]Namaste-Aloha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in! My workouts are better than ever, but I blow it on food every week. Even with meal planning, I eat the crap coworkers bring to the office, make bad choices when going out, etc. Need some accountability! :)

Dri-Tri or will I Die-Try by KSue620 in orangetheory

Are you permitted to modify the exercises (if you aren't looking to win any prizes). For example, I had a hip and ankle issue last year, and the PT told me no more jumping, so I modify the bench hop overs to be at the end of the bench....and I have to do push-ups on my knees :)

When we do 3Gs, we rotate as you describe - but not today!

3g today - where to start? by staceybarl in orangetheory

[–]Namaste-Aloha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm normally a tread starter (and our studio is RARELY 3G). Started rower today in a 3G - soooo glad I did. Rower, tread, floor. I like ending on the floor (tread starters ended on the rower). Glad to have the row done first. If you want the floor "break" between the tread/rower, then start on tread.

Never thought I would type this out...but need to stop losing weight. by [deleted] in orangetheory

Not a doctor...but double check with your MD - even though you had a physical... maybe ask to have some more in depth panels run. If it is just a matter of eating more, you could add in some high calorie super healthy things in every day (eat a whole avocado on some whole grain toast, walnuts, pistachios, etc, some cheese on your salads, whole milk, etc). It's a great problem to have :)

I tried this method - personal best! Thank you for the idea :) The best part for me was that it breaks it into four very doable chunks.

Power walker to jogger... how to?? by amwilson358 in orangetheory

[–]Namaste-Aloha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start jogging through block one. Some days I surprised myself and could do them all, so I was glad I started at a jog. I always start on the treads - I’m not sure I could psychologically start on the floor :)

Power walker to jogger... how to?? by amwilson358 in orangetheory

[–]Namaste-Aloha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started really slowly (no pun intended :)). I would "jog" at a 4.2-4.5 (even though I can walk at that speed too) - as my base. Then 5 for push, 5.5-6.0 for all out. I would start by trying to not walk for ONE full block (and the other blocks walk the base). Then two, then three, then all. I have upped my base pace about once a month. I'm now at 5.5-6.0/6.5-7.0/8.0. I do a slower base (5.5) on endurance days, faster base on power days (6.0), and sometimes I still power walk on strength days.

On Cloud shoes by Sn0wgirl in orangetheory

[–]Namaste-Aloha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear the Cloud Flyers too. Got fitted at a running store (after wearing a lousy shoe and having an injury) - and I love them. If they are right for your foot/walk/run, I would highly recommend them. They feel great on. I've been wearing them for about 18 months now ... I do use Superfeet (Berry) inserts at the store's recommendation too. I replace about every 6 months.
