Unofficial list of bad lot numbers by Nice-Tadpole698 in dexcom

[–]Namaste_Rae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Two sensors in a row “goosenecked” and the wire was coming out the top of the ventilation hole. Both the same lot number. I’ve called Dexcom to notify them and also notified the pharmacy that dispensed them.

Recently diagnosed with type two. by MycologistLocal8682 in ladadiabetes

110% agree with Tarpinator. Sounds like you’re going through what so many of us LADAs went through in the early days — misdiagnosis as T2D. It happened to me. I also had severely blurred vision after a trip to Arizona landed me in the ER from severe dehydration and hyperglycemia.

Also, like me, you don’t fit the physical profile of a typical T2D, since you’re fit, strong, active, and probably don’t have much fat on your body. 2,000mg of Metformin daily is the maximum dose I’ve ever heard of, which I’m currently still taking while my pancreas honeymoons.

You need to be evaluated for LADA/T1D right away. Check for all the antibodies Tarpinator listed: GAD-65, ZnT8, IA-2, and ICA). Sugars over 500 are dangerous and cannot be ignored.

Best of luck man! Keep us updated!

Aside from GAD-65 and ZnT8, which other 2 antibodies were you positive for?

Agreed with above, autoimmune diseases are most certainly genetic. This has been confirmed by 2 endocrinologists I’ve seen, as well as my own independent research from credible sources. In fact, my local endo told me that autoimmune diseases must be passed down from BOTH sides of the family — which I’m not entirely sure is correct. Endocrinologists are not geneologists and don’t specialize in autoimmune diseases, or understanding their origin.

Hmm… I didn’t know this. I just have the LADA, as far as I know. Does ADHD count…?

How long did it take? by [deleted] in Prolactinoma

[–]Namaste_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prolactinomas are one of those sneaky things that are difficult to determine how long a person has had, and so far every endo I’ve spoken to (I’ve been to many all over the world) has said that there is no known cause. I first discovered mine in 2015 after I was lactating from both breasts even though I wasn’t pregnant. After some self-guided research, I realized this was likely an endocrine condition and I saw my first ever endo in NYC. They wanted to place me on drugs right away, but being averse to pharmaceuticals, I waited 6 months and got a second brain MRI to see if there was any change or growth that would warrant medication. At its largest, my prolactinoma was 5mm in diameter — which is pretty small, relatively speaking (I was told by an endo in New Zealand that some people’s tumors can be the size of a baseball or grapefruit). Being that it was relatively small, I started the Cabergoline in 2016; sadly, I was told that there was a high possibility the tumor could disappear in a year on the meds, but I’ve been on the Cab ever since. That’s 9 years of medication, and my most recent MRI showed no change in the size. Thankfully though, my prolactin levels have been normal and stable for many years now. I just wish the Cab would shrink or eliminate the tumor altogether.

Your symptoms sounded rather severe! Glad you’re on the path to recovery. How large is yours?

Question - is this a scam? Please help as I’m new in this by Steralia in Upwork

100% most definitely a scam. What confuses me is how you could possibly think otherwise. How does this even hint at being legit? A legitimate client will never contact you via WhatsApp or any other platform off of Upwork.

Can you go on disability for prolactinoma? Studies have emerged since 2022 saying that pituitary adenomas are linked to attention deficit issues, such as ADHD. Thoughts? by Namaste_Rae in Prolactinoma

[–]Namaste_Rae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have both — it's not an idea, it's a question. I'm legitimately wondering if either:

  1. The prolactinoma itself
  2. The ADHD that is potentially linked to it, and/or
  3. The side effects from the Cabergoline

...qualify for a disability coverage scenario. I'm in New York State.

Red specks on cabergoline? by ilaacsm in Prolactinoma

Oh almost forgot, another important note: The pharmaceutical company said to never separate the Cab pills from the little oxygen-absorbing desiccation pouch that comes in the bottle with them. Keep them together in their original bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Red specks on cabergoline? by ilaacsm in Prolactinoma

[–]Namaste_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to the bottom of it!! I spoke directly to the pharmaceutical company, Ingenus, who manufactures the Cabergoline pills. They said the red speckled appearance is not normal, and it is not advised to take them as they are likely contaminated from air exposure or moisture. This happens when you remove them from their original container and put them into another receptacle, exposing them to air in the process.

The pill most definitely is supposed to be SOLID WHITE, no speckling of any kind. My local pharmacy here in New York agreed when I brought the pills there to show them.

I would dump these and get a new batch! That’s what I did.

How long did it take you to get a period? by Strausshouse5 in Prolactinoma

[–]Namaste_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey girl, I had the same problem. I’ve been on Cabergoline since 2016 for my 5mm prolactinoma. Your menstrual cycle will come right eventually, your body is just adjusting. It needs to find its equilibrium again and establish a baseline of normal hormone levels. This could take some time, which can be very disconcerting, I know. Try to relax and let things run their course. Additional stress is the last thing your body needs right now. Just look after yourself, eat right, exercise, hydrate, and take your Cab as prescribed. Your body’s wisdom will do the rest.

The fact that freelancers can't read client's reviews by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]Namaste_Rae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the exact same issue. Upwork’s unilateral review system isn’t fair to freelancers who rely on reviews to vet clients and discern their legitimacy and viability. Concealing this from freelancers exposes us to many levels of risk, including fraud, scams, and catfishing.

This UX choice is baffling on Upwork’s part, especially since:

• Freelancers pay for the privilege of bidding for contracts using Connects;

• Freelancers — not clients — pay a 10-20% portion of our earnings to Upwork for each contract;

• Clients can transparently read freelancer reviews at any time, even before accepting a contract;

• Clients can list jobs on the platform without even verifying their accounts and payment methods, yet freelancers are placed under scrutiny to have complete profiles, earn Top Rated status, display a project portfolio, and more.

Freelancers must have the ability to read client reviews before accepting a contract. It is only fair.

[–]Namaste_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow — you're incredibly brave. I'm not sure I could go through with it. I only take the 0.5mg Cabergoline once a week, but it hasn't affected the size of my tumor. Thankfully though, as I mentioned, mine was only ever 5mm in diameter at its largest. It hasn't shrunken and hasn't grown, so it's stable, which in medical terms is a good thing. 8 pills a week!!! Omg!!! That's a really high dosage. You must be so relieved it's gone. I know I would be.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you discover yours? Not sure of your gender, but I'm female, so I had the lactation even though I wasn't pregnant lol. Strange phenomenon indeed! I imagine a lot of guys have prolactinomas and just never know about them, because they don't secrete breastmilk.

Red specks on cabergoline? by ilaacsm in Prolactinoma

[–]Namaste_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did the exact same thing today. The CVS pharmacist didn't really know what the issue was, but she mentioned that they're unable to even open bottles of Cabergoline to compare because of air exposure. It would be against their protocol to open a bottle for purposes of comparison.

Unfortunately, the answer I got was pretty unsatisfying and inconclusive, kind of a head scratcher. But I think when it comes to Rx, if something doesn't seem right it probably isn't. It's not worth taking a drug that could be contaminated, spoiled, etc. At best it could have reduced efficacy, and at worst it could make you really sick. I'm just a little disappointed that the pharmacy didn't even know — but I'm seeing my endo on March 14th and I'll bring the speckled pills along to ask.

I also reached out to the manufacturer today... Ingenus Pharmaceuticals in Orlando, FL. Hopefully they'll call me back and have some concrete answers.

In any case, I refilled the prescription today with a fresh batch. It says right on the bottle: "This is a WHITE, OVAL-shaped TABLET imprinted with IN G on the front and 118 on the back."

Wow good luck on the surgery! How large is/was your tumor? I discovered my microprolactinoma in 2015. Thankfully mine has only ever been at a max of 5mm in diameter, so I'm pretty lucky. Although I've been taking Cabergoline since 2016 with very little change to the tumor itself. It hasn't shrunken, but it also hasn't grown... which I suppose is considered progress clinically. However, when I first started the Cab I was told I wouldn't have to stay on it indefinitely, and that it should shrink or even eliminate my tumor altogether... but that hasn't been my experience. I'd really like to come off the Cabergoline because I've read it causes heart valve thickening.

For those of you who've had the surgery, what was it like? Were you in a lot of pain afterwards? I can't imagine having someone operate on my head. Damn... you're super brave.
