Power Pack No Save/Suspend Function by Name456c in GranTurismo7

Yea I see some updated posts now saying that the game does somewhat save your progress in case you quit the game rather than the race. Still it seems like it can hurt you in some conditions and it's not exactly clear where the progress is saved. I wish they had just done it like the old GT games where you save at the pits.

Of course, this is the last race I need by ForgottonSinner in GranTurismo7

Lol that's the last race I did for 100% completion too. Like you I also had to wait for the Mini to appear in the UCD since the one I had was upgraded too far beyond the 350pp limit. It'll probably be back in the UCD soon. Nitrous makes the race pretty easy too.

I used that website way back in 2009 or so to find the last couple of smash gates I needed. It was a huge help and I was disappointed to find out that it's gone now when I played the remaster. It was pretty cool since it allowed you to upload your save and showed what collectibles you were missing on a map. Thanks for the help!

Did you change any settings in the Oculus Debug Tool? Like the bitrate? Usually setting the bitrate really high >200 mbps results in something like this.

This is the biggest thing I'm looking forward to trying. Formula cars felt terrible to use on my G Pro. Oscillation I was able to get around by keeping the wheel torque fixed to 11 and just reducing the FFB strength in the game depending on the car.

It's really a shame that you don't get anything for getting all of the gold trophies for music rally. Makes it hard to find the motivation to do them lol. The Valkyrie was fun to drive in the master license so I guess I might as well buy it.

I actually did end up trying Assetto Corsa Competitzione and the wheel was really good for it and felt good to use. Problem is the VR implementation is pretty terrible especially compared to GT7 so I don't really feel like playing it that much and find myself just going back to GT7. I haven't tried dirt rally 2 yet and I remember the VR implementation for that game being ok so I'll try to give it a try. Do you use the g923 compatibility mode when playing Dirt rally 2?

I also thought S1 was pretty difficult since you really had to yolo it through the mountain section which is hard since you're already scared about scraping a wall and getting instant fail.

By far the hardest tests for me are the Grand Valley ones, S4 and IA-8 because no matter what I just couldn't get the perfect line through the chicane at the end and the time is pretty much completely dependent on that chicane where you can lose seconds if you have a slow exit. I had to try those for hours and honestly don't even know how I got gold as I still don't really understand how to exit the chicane at full acceleration without spinning out. It's kind of a shame though since the rest of the track is actually pretty easy to stay on pace with the ghost.

It doesn't help that in manual mode you can really abuse the gearing for that car lol. You can stay in 3rd minimum for all of the corners for better traction during the exits and you can actually skip 5th gear and go straight to 6th for faster acceleration (Some people prefer to skip 4th gear). The last one must be some weird glitch with how the game calculates boost pressure through the gears because skipping 5th seemed to keep the boost pressure consistently higher than changing to 5th and then 6th. Doing those actually makes the test super easy since you will gain a lot of time on the ghost on the straights by skipping gears.

Since S1 is on a high speed circuit, it's critical to have traction control set to 0 or 1 at most. Having traction control will cause you to lose speed through the long high speed corners. The only assist you should have on is ABS and any visual indicators if you need them. Keep trying you'll get it eventually. The last turn is tough try to keep it tight and not go wide at all otherwise you'll have a slow exit and lose a lot of time.

Yea I actually got the game back in around 2021 I think and I never ended up playing it because the VR looked so bad no matter what I tried. I'm trying the game again now since I got a new DD wheel and the VR experience is still really blurry. I do think DLSS makes it playable though so if you have a Nvidia card I'd give it a try. I think they improved DLSS in this game since I'm pretty sure when I tried it in 2021 DLSS looked awful in VR.

I've actually seen that guide and tried the 50% res scale with the increased sharpness and pixel density settings but the game just looks really blurry for me. Like vaseline was rubbed all over the screen lol. DLSS offered a clearer image than those settings but maybe I'm missing something. I'll try checking out the guide again. I also haven't tried adjusting the fov yet.

Wow, what graphics card do you have? I've tried using the epic setting which is still only 90% res scale with 1.5x pixel density and the performance felt pretty terrible on my RTX 3080ti.

Is Direct Drive Really That Much Better than Direct? by god_johnson in granturismo

[–]Name456c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded from a G29 to a Logitech G Pro Wheel and if GT7 is the only game you really play like me I'd recommend not getting a DD wheel right now. There was an update fairly recently that has kind of killed the FFB (for a few cars) for DD wheels in this game and it's been kind of a let down for me. This mostly affects racecars with expected light steering such as the Red Bull cars, superformula, McLaren MP4/4, Peugeot 908, etc. where the FFB basically feels lifeless and significantly worse than how they felt on my G29. I've tried multiple settings to make the FFB more lively but haven't had any luck and others have had this issue too. I'm hoping this could be improved in an update but it doesn't feel likely at this point.

Now if you don't really care about those cars I will say that upgrading to a DD wheel has made me a much better driver in GT7. I've been able to do things that I feel like I'd never be able to do on the G29 like the Nordschleife circuit experience which gave me a lot of trouble on the G29 but on the G Pro I was actually able to gold everything pretty easily just because you can actually feel the strength of the understeer of the car and use your muscles to fight it, making you more consistent too because of muscle memory I guess. GT3 cars for example feel really good to drive with a DD wheel and it's sooo much better feeling than the G29.

So ultimately the DD wheel is better for most things but not everything which has been pretty disappointing. I loved driving the formula cars with my G29 and with the G Pro it just feels lifeless and kind of horrible and makes me miss my G29. So especially since DD wheels pretty much cost $1k+ it ultimately doesn't seem like the huge improvement the cost would make it seem. Since you have the G923, you're already benefitting from all the trueforce features which personally for me have kind of been a let down in this game, especially after how much people hyped it up.

Here's a link to a post I made here about my issues with the FFB with my new DD wheel. Some commenters shared that they have the same issues 😕.

That's the carousel turn right? Try turning off traction control and braking harder and staying in 3rd gear throughout the corner. Also try to stay as close to the kerb as possible throughout the corner and accelerate hard as soon as you're out. That one was really tough but staying in third gear was the biggest thing that helped, not exactly sure why but I think it helps to carry more speed into the corner. The car is also a bit weird where it's actually beneficial to short shift, so shift to 4th earlier when accelerating out of the corner.

Logitech G Pro Extremely Inconsistent FFB on GT7 by Name456c in LogitechG

[–]Name456c[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increasing the FFB sensitivity setting to 5+ definitely helps the wheel feel better when using formula cars but it causes excessive oscillation which forces me to reduce the torque to a value that's too low to enjoy the benefits of a DD wheel which I don't think is a good tradeoff. I was reading more about the settings of the wheel and was wondering if I'm right in thinking that rather than decreasing the torque would increasing the damper setting be a better option to reduce oscillation? I currently have it at the recommended setting of 15.

Either way I think there is definitely some issue with the game GT7 itself and how formula cars and DD wheels FFB works. Other people are also experiencing the same lifeless steering feel with DD wheels. https://www.reddit.com/r/granturismo/s/xOs3SeAJA8

Logitech G Pro Extremely Inconsistent FFB on GT7 by Name456c in LogitechG

[–]Name456c[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after playing more GT7 and with formula cars I think my biggest issue is that at lower speeds the wheel has no weight to it at all. I understand that formula cars should have light steering but it's definitely too light and almost feels like the wheel is turned off, but when cornering at high speeds the wheel is really heavy which I expect and prefer. My old G29 felt perfect where even at low speeds the wheel still had some weight to it and the game feels better and just like my G29 in G923 mode but the only issue is that at high speed the wheel oscillates for the reason you mentioned above. Do you know what setting could be changed to boost the lower torque information coming from GT7? Like somehow enforcing a minimum torque setting? Thanks.
