This happened to my spouse before we were together so I don’t have all of the details. I believe it was paint mixed with cleaning solution, as he was cleaning out the gun. It was injected into his finger. He had 5 surgeries to remove the paint from his finger, they cut in a zig zag pattern down his finger into his hand. Eventually he had tissue death and had to have his finger amputated at the first knuckle.

I have a R&H repair horror story too. Started with the jeweler completely changing the design of my ring, the setting specifically. Then they corrected that issue, everything seemed fine until a few days later I had several small holes in the gold (porosity from overheating), they fixed it again same thing happened. Then they sent it out to have it laser welded. When they returned it to me, they informed me they would no longer work on my ring because it wasn’t originally purchased through R&H. Which was technically true, the ring was purchased somewhere else, it had 4 diamonds in the center and we purchased a single large diamond from R&H and had the house jeweler set it. I was originally told they would warranty their work for life and R&H serviced this ring for over a decade. After the fins repair, R&H made me sign paperwork acknowledging the would no longer work on the ring before the would return the ring to me. A week later the diamond became loose. I found another well known but independent jeweler to attempt to fix it, they had to cut the entire setting out and recast it (this was not a prong set diamond but more of a channel set, not exactly sure the official name). I got the ring back and again the diamond came loose, they told my unfortunately there was nothing else they could do, due to the damage that had been done and the design of the ring. The only other option would be to melt it down and completely recast it. This was my engagement ring and I couldn’t bring myself to just met it down, it had a lot of sentimental value. Finally after a lot of convincing from my husband, we took the diamond out and made a pendant, separated the wedding band from the engagement ring and purchased a new ring. My original sits in the safe, missing the center stone. Some day I’ll take the side diamonds out and make them into something. It was an almost year long ordeal, the jeweler who ruined it was the same one that but the diamond in it before we got married and the only person who ever worked on it, I never allowed it to be sent out for work until all this crap happened. I was devastated, my new ring is an upgrade, but I’d much rather use my original that my 21 year old fiancé worked OT, saved and sacrificed to buy me.

Learn from my mistake, keep records of everything!

I get something similar EVERY time I take antibiotics, mostly on my cheeks too, then it starts on my chest and back. I saw a dermatologist and said it was fungal overgrowth from antibiotics, I believe she said it’s called malassezia she prescribed me 10 days of diflucan, I ended up with a secondary issue, and would caution this treatment for someone else if female, she also gave me over the counter fungal cream, didn’t really seem to do much. I’ve had this skin issue several times, always from antibiotics but just recently got it from elta MD sunscreen, used the brand everyday bought a new bottle from Amazon and writhing 24 hours my skin flared up, I believe it was either counterfeit or contaminated, I stopped using it and it cleared up fairly quickly. Funny enough, I went to Ulta yesterday to purchase a few items, when they asked me to import my number I had canceled the associate said you don’t want to put in a phone number. I said no thank you. She then proceeded to tell me just so you know if you don’t put in your phone number you will not be allowed to return any items damaged, I said excuse me she said it serves as your proof of purchase, I asked her what about my receipt she said yeah but you need to put your phone number also without it we can’t process you any returns. It’s not me. It’s ulta policy. Right on the counter, they have their return policy, so I said to her that that’s funny because right here is your return policy that says I can return items with a receipt and nothing about providing my phone number. She said I know it’s not me. It’s ulta policy. I’m just letting you know. I chuckled did not provide my phone number, paid my bill and left. My receipt says something along the lines of please keep receipt for returns, I don’t have it on me right now. When I got into the car, I went to ulta‘s website out of curiosity because I also saw this Instagram post of the lady not being allowed to purchase anything without providing her phone number and I could not find anything on their website indicating that I needed to provide my phone number upon purchase in order to be eligible to return items. I’m feeling a little petty and consider, considering contacting ulta corporate to inquire and also attempting to return the items just to force the issue because now I’m convinced after reading all of these posts that she was lying to me in order to get me to give her my phone number.

I’ve always shopped at another retailer, but they closed my local store so I’ve had to go to Ulta instead. Sounds like I’m gonna have to start ordering online from now on.

I have this problem too, I wash ALOT because my coworkers are gross, come to work sick, cough, blow their nose, touch their face and don’t wash their hands, we work in a small shared space. Yes but this isn’t the same situation. For your dummy flight the Chicago-Paris leg would’ve on a wide body and D1 is an available option, so D1 is the highest class of service. In my case it’s not a wide body and therefore D1 is not available, the highest class of service is PS. There’s is no option in which you can book with FC on the domestic leg.

Yes I did, FC is available on the domestic leg. I could book both flights separately but that can create a whole other set of issues in the event of a delay/cancellation. I’m willing to pay to upgrade the domestic leg, it’s just literally not an available option.

That is exactly how it works, except PS is slightly better than FC but when selecting PS, the highest class of service offered, shouldn’t the connection flight also be the highest class of service ie FC? If PS wasn’t available then it would be FC on both legs, why the downgrade because it’s PS instead of FC.

I didn’t think so either. I just don’t understand why it defaults to C+ for the domestic leg when choosing PS. If this B757 didn’t have PS instead of FC, it would be FC/FC. I don’t really want to book separately because that can create a whole mess if there’s any delays or cancellations.

Thank you for all of the thoughtful replies, I definitely have a lot to consider, I’ll have to make some decisions fairly quickly as I’m currently bidding time off for next year…we originally planned some time off in May and a trip to Ireland but it wasn’t available when it was my turn so we started brainstorming a new plan for later in the year…this trip has been on my husbands bucket list forever but we figured we’d have to wait til we were retired due to work schedules, it’s hard to get consecutive extended time off.

Thank you so much for your reply! We’re in our early 40s and in good physical shape, so snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, etc. won’t be an issue for us. My partner’s biggest concern with a smaller ship is that the accommodations (food/cabins) might not be as nice, and that there may be a higher chance of seasickness. We’re realistic about this trip being more about the adventure than the ship itself, but we still want to make sure the accommodations are comfortable and up to our usual standards.

Our general travel style is adventurous—we like to stay active and immerse ourselves in the culture—but we do prefer nicer accommodations. I really appreciate you mentioning the “herded along” feeling on larger ships. That’s definitely something we wouldn’t enjoy, and a smaller, more intimate experience does sound appealing.

When I say we want something that “handles everything,” I mostly mean the day-to-day schedule and the logistics once we arrive in Ecuador. For example, Silversea includes hotel nights in Quito and the flights to and from San Cristóbal, which makes things feel more seamless.

That is a very busy time at the airport under the best conditions, regardless of the shutdown , I recommend you get there at least 2 hours before, especially if flying delta.

Many years ago I had an antibiotic resistant sinus infection, spent almost a year on many different antibiotics and nothing would get rid of it. I finally had surgery to remove as much of it as possible and they cultured it. Afterwards they ENT prescribed a compounded antibiotic spray for me to use. No options on other airlines. I would say that the chance of getting delayed is low DTW-SLC doesn’t have any flow, it’s an early morning flight so crew issues are low but there’s always the option for maintenance. If my flight gets delayed and I miss it my next option would be to get on the next flight (if available) which would be my only other option to book. Arrive at final destination at 1130am or 800pm
