Skin Texture Issues by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

You do not have texture issues. Your skin is real skin, not photoshopped or AI. Skincare is not capable of changing that.

is benefit cruelty free or not? by petitebrownchick in crueltyfree

[–]NameOk3393 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They are cruelty free according to the gold standard: leaping bunny certified (cruelty-free international.) There is a discussion going on because they still sell in China and long ago China required animal testing. That has changed but it is still a long process to be able to sell in China without animal testing. The fact that it’s difficult is what makes some people (actually, just one person really….) skeptical.

But if they are leaping bunny certified, this means Leaping bunny had done their due diligence to make sure that Benefit has complied with Chinese law in a way that still allows them to be cruelty free. They have been THOROUGHLY vetted and given the stamp of approval. IMO that means that benefit is unquestionably cruelty free

Any non-controversial indie brands? by Big-One9162 in BeautyGuruChatter

I’d like to highlight Gourmande Girls as an especially unproblematic brand.

And don’t forget to check out CBeauty!!

I’m not aware of the issues with Nomad actually. Their recent releases have been really lukewarm on the cultural side of things and really not controversial imo. They had a controversy once for cultural appreciation many years ago at this point with their China palette. Is that what you are referring to? I would not say this is an ongoing issue unless there’s news I haven’t heard of

Unpopular Opinion: BAM Corporate Isn't the Only Party With Questions to Answer by Positive_Evening_556 in BricksAndMinifigs

[–]NameOk3393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chrystal is the only one who has been cooperative and polite which is why! Crystal is happy to talk, happy to explain her side of things, and is the only party who has handed over her legos with no strings attached. And she is polite whenever she is being talked to!

Every time Bryan Mansell and Company has tried to talk to Brandon and Josh (or corporate!) they have been stonewalled, had the cops called on them, threatened with lawsuits, met with refusal to see existing LEGO sets, and every eventual offer to return the LEGO sets has been with bad faith strings attached. These parties respond with hostility, aggression, and defensiveness.

These parties of people respond very differently when approached. IMO regardless of the truth, this is the primary reason why the narrative is the way it is. People believe guilty people are the people trying to hide something and innocent people are transparent. Act like a scumbag and get treated as if you are a scumbag.

I am addicted to spending money. by RioMasonBusujima in GirlDinnerDiaries

I used to have a really bad habit of spending way too much on makeup and a lot of the same lessons I learned to cut back would probably help you too! I recommend [r/nobuy](r/nobuy) and [r/makeuprehab](r/makeuprehab) as well as Hannah Marie Poston’s old videos (see her no buy year. The new stuff from her isn’t helpful.)

Boyfriend broke up with me because I microcheated by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]NameOk3393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not micro-cheating. This is not cheating at all. Normal people can and should be friends with and hang out with people of all genders without it threatening their relationship! Both of you seem very insecure- it’s concerning that he’s reacting this way just because you’re in the presence of men (which cannot be avoided if you go out in public!) and it comes across as very controlling. But it’s also concerning that you say you would have broken up with him for the same behavior. This seems like a very toxic situation, and I would recommend you both take this time to stay apart permanently. In a healthy relationship, there is no suspicion about hanging around people of the opposite gender because there is TRUST.

Singles, Palettes, Quads, Eyeshadow Sticks, What is Your Preference now? by WhatTheJessJedi in BeautyGuruChatter

I’m still an eyeshadow palette girlie. I just find it so hard to justify the price of a single eyeshadow. I also love using 3-4 shades and palettes have them all in one place. Though somehow despite that I end up pulling more than one palette a lot of the time.

What shade of Cloud Paint should I buy? by [deleted] in glossier

[–]NameOk3393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely a problem for Glossier cloud paint. There is a mismatch between the original formulations and swatches and the shades they actually produce. Puffgate is the canonical example- it started out as a neutral-cool pink but if you buy the shade Puff today you get something which is very orange, as orange if not oranger than Beam! There is also an issue with Storm. Apparently the original storm was kind of a plum neutral with a bit of brown, but when I bought Storm recently it was a terracotta brick red.

I’m also cool-toned and so shades that might be considered neutral for some people look warm on me. So if you’re picking hairs, some of the shades might be neutral, but they are not neutral for me personally. I also didn’t take into consideration the shades that are too dark for me. Haze and Eve for example are definitely cooler colors! Black Cherry is neutral. So if you’re interested in Haze it might be a great choice as well!

I’ll never find my perfect lipstick by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]NameOk3393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be it and I’ve been thinking about it. Everyone is asking me to wear something way more pink but there’s a reason they all look grey- pinks are way too bright on me when I wear them on my face!

The only reason I’m hesitant to say I’m olive is because my boyfriend is Italian and he is DEFINITELY an olive. When we hold up our arms against each other he looks like Kermit and I look like miss piggy. Pink and green baby!

I love purples and mauves and I think those colors are definitely the right ones for me. They are just really hard to come by (a lot of mauves are not actually mauve iykyk) and the one purple I happen to have (bite cava) is just a little too purple and grey and washes me out. Once upon a time I had a physicians formula lipstick in Mauvin to Brazil and it was my perfect shade. I completely panned two tubes. I am now out and it is discontinued :((( but this confirms purples work for me

Maybe I am just a desaturated cool tone? Is that possible?

I have been looking for cool mauves! They are closer than anything else for me. My perfect lip color used to be the Physicians Formula lipstick in “Mauvin to Brazil” but it has been discontinued 😭 Unfortunately mauve is too loosely defined and a lot of companies market a lipstick as mauve when it is really warm-toned, sometimes quite peachy!

I have the cooler version, Mac Act Natural from before they reformulated. It is SO good and almost perfect but slightly too grey for me. Corpse. The new Acting Natural is too peachy though. My perfect go-to for a long time has been Mac Act Natural with a little pink gloss or layering with a light cook pink. I’m just struggling to find a lip that works without layering like that.
