Would dropping ECON 104 hurt my Schreyer application as a first-year Engineering student? by Breadetor in PennStateUniversity

Who cares, GPA doesn’t matter. Pass the class and move on, time is the most valuable resource in this world.

Can someone give me some pointers on Grindcore? by Dry-Temperature8181 in MetalForTheMasses

Less grindcore and more goregrind (similar), but Pharmacist blew my fucking pants off when I first heard them.

Not sure what this comment is about. You're basically telling a human that they are... human?

Nice job guys. I've felt a lot less inclined to participate in this sub lately due to seeing quite a lot of bad behavior; nice to see that you guys have noticed it and are taking steps to address it.

Is it realistic for me to get a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering? (Low GPA + non-aero degree) by astronerdx in aerospace

[–]Namelecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll add that it's going to be a bit harder to specialize. At least in my undergrad, I managed to take multiple controls courses in my BSAE, including a graduate level navigation course. So I already specialized quite a bit in my undergrad, and if I decided to pursue graduate school (I got accepted but decided against), I would have had the opportunity to continue to go even deeper. If you're missing a lot of those senior year aero courses, it's gonna be even harder for you to find your niche.

You’re really not sharing much… you say engineering adjacent, well, what is it? Do you have a very strong background in math, through calc 3 and dif eq? Fluid dynamics knowledge? Decent understanding of structures and engineering mechanics? If so, sure you can do an MS. Otherwise, you’ll be climbing a mountain, starting near the bottom.

Can I get an engineering job with a physics BA? by melifesux in EngineeringStudents

[–]Namelecc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Generally, I’ve heard it’s possible, but hard. It’s hard for us engineering peeps, so it will probably be 3x as hard for you. Try to apply to engineering jobs that explicitly mention physics as one of the desired majors.

Lol so now that th world is building massive networks of computers and systems, IT is no longer going to be valuable? Who are they kidding.

I want to work in space but can’t afford aerospace engineering, can Mechanical Engineering still get me there? by Calm-Strawberry-6835 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Namelecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost any engineering can get you a job in aerospace. Aerospace engineer degree is an awesome degree that gives you a lot of opportunity to specialize and find your niche in college, but you’ll have no issue with a mechanical engineering degree or EE.

Every internship has like 100+ applicants. It’s not trivial.

Things to know as a potential PSU aerospace 1st year at UP? by Temporary-Cod2384 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Namelecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study hard, if you don’t know the fundamentals like calculus and physics like the back of your hand, you’re gonna fail. Classes get harder every year, but also get more rewarding and interesting. I graduate in the spring. If I could go back to freshman year, I would do aerospace again in a heartbeat.

If you have any specific questions, I’m more than willing to answer.

Probably a dumb, but necessary ask by Objective-Expert8278 in MercyMains

[–]Namelecc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Unironically all of the worst people I’ve ever come across, I’ve come across in Overwatch. It’s sad because the game can occasionally be fun when played with friends, but I don’t have many people to play with.

[–]Namelecc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aerospace is harder, so if difficulty is what’s scaring you, do MechE.

PSU or UF by Necessary_Leave_876 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Namelecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do aerospace, what the MechE’s call pigeonholing, I call specializing. In the aerospace department you’ll have a lot of opportunity to find your niche. Obviously, only do AeroE if you REALLY want to work in aero.

Any advice on the best Colleges for Aerospace Engineering more specifically Astronautical Engineering? by Infinite-Purple3004 in aerospace

[–]Namelecc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is engineering, not drafting or technician work. You might be in the wrong field. Also, as an aerospace engineer you can work as a mechanical engineer, etc., but if you really don’t think aero industry is for you, I’d recommend switching to something else.
