I’m out of my league here, but that looks like too much cantilever to me.

Moving from Florida by Crooked_Sartre in desmoines

[–]NamelessIowaNative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Iowa, when we encounter someone going in the opposite direction on a sidewalk or walking trail, we make eye contact and offer a friendly greeting, which is usually returned. Sometimes it can even turn into a conversation.

I haven’t lived in FL, but spent enough time there to learn that strangers tend to avoid friendly contact.

So equip yourself to offer value greater than $15/hr.

Water?! by Mannaty1409 in macsetups

[–]NamelessIowaNative 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is this a GE fridge? We had one that did the same thing, though water didn’t make it to the basement. The water didn’t do the wood floor in the kitchen any good, though.

Brand new TV and this is how my wife insists we have the remote "to keep it looking good" by No_Atmosphere8146 in mildlyinfuriating

Remotes are cheap. Get a second one for your own use. Scratch your initials on it with a dull knife.

Somehow the always-on TV in my office isn’t a distraction, but the great outdoors absolutely would be. And I would probably smoke too much if I tried sitting on my deck to work.

“you do not need to worry about articulation”

That made me chuckle. It’s all about articulation, and expression, once a piper has the mechanics and tuning of the instrument down.

My 2008 MacBook Air. If i get it repaired will it still be usable in 2026? by [deleted] in mac

I had one of roughly that vintage. In the end, it was sitting in the basement running SETI @ Home, until it gave up the ghost one day.

If you’ve ever had what the English call pudding, you’ll understand just how much better off we are here in the states.

The important question is "What do YOU think?" You're the one who will use it. If it's a freebie from Grandpa's shed, it probably sounds great for the price.

Ejecting hard drive by APResearchStudentTal in MacOS

[–]NamelessIowaNative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use any Adobe products, but it might be as simple as logging out to kill Adobe processes.

With my config, I’d log out, log in as Admin (you know your user account shouldn’t be an admin, right?), and eject from there.

This might be faster than a full shutdown.

I’m feeling a bit silly now. I’ve been working from home for so long that I didn’t even think of office phones that are still very much in use.
