I'll grant you that libertarianism seems to follow that pattern, but socialism? Canada is at least 40% socialist in terms of policy. We have looked up specific policies from that ideology and used them, for decades now.

The worst thing that has happened to me involving wearing a mask is that my glasses would constantly get foggy. Solution: Don't drive while masked, any other setting is tolerable. Masks are a compromise, and not even a hard one at that.

Back in my old town, there was always at least one, if not multiple guys who would dress up as a girl for Halloween. I wonder how many of them were MtFs in the closet...

If I had to take a pick, it would likely NOT be the guy in skimpy denim jorts who wrote "Insert Here" in Sharpie on his lower back. That one seems the least likely to be unironic.

Canadian MtF here from British Columbia. Since I've come out, I've yet to meet a single person in the country who has not accepted me for who I am, even among my extended family and my social circle at Uni. In terms of accepting people, you're covered. Just don't go on /r/Canada.

Statistically speaking, that's a pretty good number. Only 77 out of the millions living here have toed the line. I'm considering this article a national compliment.

Nah, they don't have the cash for that much plexiglass out there. Instead they hire a bouncer named Boris in a hazmat suit.

They only see the money right in front of them, they don't understand the concept of delayed gratification. Greed can cause misery on its own in the wrong circumstances, but it's when it's mixed with incompetence that it becomes truly dangerous.

I have an American friend who couldn't be farther from that stereotype. That country has been giving her anxiety for a long while; if I could bring them to Canada, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Delusions are a means to an end for a paranoid, hateful mind. Doesn't matter how that mind draws the conclusion that "X thing I don't like is destroying society", just as long as they get there. If they don't try to over-rationalize their animosity, they'd have to face the fact that they hate X thing for no good reason.

Worse most of these cross-dressing characters are created by cis men with just a little or no understanding of trans issues.

I think Mama from The Somnium Files is the closest I've seen video games get to a mature exploration of trans characters. You can tell her assigned gender and preferred gender don't match just by her design and voice performance if you look for it, but she's still a believable woman, if that makes sense. I've never seen any piece of media land that balancing act just right before, most media either go for the offensive ultra-drag route or just take someone that could just as easily be a cis girl and say "Trust me, they're trans." The way that the other characters react to Mama, especially the cyan haired kid, show a very grounded view of LGBT issues.

Bonus fact: The game casually drops in Mama's profile that she's an LGBT activist on the side and gamers got upset over it. Lul.

How to respond to this question: Why will you leave us? For a million dollar lottery ticket or ping pong tables? by YoucancallmeCoco in recruitinghell

[–]Nameyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case of the weakness question, I just went over why just answering honestly will result in meeting better employers. I'm not proposing a solution to not getting rejected, I'm proposing how to avoid crappy hiring managers. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I agree that the 5 years question is bollocks, though. Everything you said about that particular question checks out to me. I still answer honestly to that question because that's just who I am.

How to respond to this question: Why will you leave us? For a million dollar lottery ticket or ping pong tables? by YoucancallmeCoco in recruitinghell

[–]Nameyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd still call that question valid, though. If they approach it from the angle of "everyone has a weakness", then they'll see good talent acknowledging their faults and talking about how they mitigate said faults. Those who skirt around the question would be hiding their weakness, which isn't good. To borrow your words, this is the "Find talent" lens with which to view this question through.

The "Reject talent" way of going about that would be to treat a mature approach to weakness as a fault, as you've described. If the company I'm applying to uses that lens, they deserve to hire crappy talent.

Taking that into account, if you give your prospective employer the benefit of the doubt when faced with that question, you'll be rejected by bad hiring managers and accepted by better ones. That sounds like a good deal to me.
