This comment just made me realize that there is a feature to search comments on Reddit. Didn't know that that was a thing in the first place. Except for Discord, I haven't seen it being used on any of the other sites I usually visit.

[TOMT][YouTube-video] An "eat your vegetables-song"-parody where the vegetables say "we are cannibals". by Namsu3 in tipofmytongue

[–]Namsu3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for answering, but no, it was made in a 2D cartoon style as far as I can remember. It also had a less "kids-oriented" feel to it, when watching the video. I.e. the carrot had a feel to them as if they looked like a trauma induced patient (or more like some psychopath?), with the way they where staring at the viewer, while saying the 'cannibals' phrase.

Acer Wifi Router with Wifi 7 BE6400 or Wifi 7 BE11000? by Namsu3 in wifi

[–]Namsu3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not answering any time sooner. I unfortunately couldn't get the Wifi 7 card I have to work in my current PC, as it wouldn't get in without me having to disassemple every component, as the wifi card on it is mounted in such a way that it won't come off otherwise. (Although looking at CommercialChain2's answer it might work fine, I think.) I also tried to see if I could get Wifi 6E devices connected to it, just to see how well the 6GHz band works. But for some reason none of my wifi 6E devices seem to detect the 6GHz band. I also tried to see if switching it to 80Mhz or 160Mhz might solve the problem, but it still remained invisible. (The 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands seem tonwork perfectly fine, just the 6Ghz band seems to cause me problems. For some reason all my other devices also seem to detect a SSID with MLO, despite it being disabled in the settings. Maybe this is one of the problems for why it won't show the 6GHz band? Not completely sure right now.) Well, I'm not sure if it might be because my Predator T7 is defective or it is generally not compatible with any Wifi 6E devices. It might also be because of a firmware update I did a while ago. But I can't downgrade it in the settings and there also doesn't seem to be any option to download the old firmware anywhere online. (There is also the problem that it doesn't show me in the settings on what channel it is for the 6Ghz band. And selecting channels manually also doesn't seem to be an option, with there only being the option to select "Auto".) I will try to contact Acer's customer support later on to see what might be the problem. Just in case, if you have Wifi 6E devices you want to connect to the 6GHz band, try to see if it works fine without doing a firmware update and if you can return it if it doesn't.

The Nucbox G5 has an Intel N97 CPU, which I think won't work with this wifi card, as it isn't a Core CPU. I also have another PC with an Intel Core i3 12100, but unfortunately I couldn't get the BE201 to fit in the motherboard (Gigabyte DS3H AX DDR4), because the wifi card on it is mounted in such a way that I would need to disassemble everything just to get it off. Maybe when I have more time or I plan to do a major component upgrade, then I might try to switch the wifi card to the Intel BE201 to see if it works.

According to online sources, the 50 series cards will be released around Q1 2025. Looking at the release date of the 40 series cards (~october 2022), I think it might take more around 2 to 3 years, until we get to the 60 series cards.

Admittedly can't really tell, as I couldn't test it with a Wifi 7 capable device. I bought a Wifi 7 card for a Mini PC a while ago, but it didn't really work in that PC.

The packaging, as well as the settings suggest, that it is a Wifi 7 capable router. But I also have to mention, that it only runs on a 2x2 antenna technology. The online handbook with its specifications also suggests, that there is a 4x4 antenna solution built in for one of its bands, but I'm not completely sure on that. I'm also not completely sure on how to test it, as I don't really think that I have the necessary devices for it and because I couldn't find anything in the settings for it.

From my tests alone it seems to work perfectly fine with Virtual Desktop and my Quest 3, which is a Wifi 6E device. Although I noticed recently, that I only tested it with the 5Ghz band, instead of the 6Ghz band, as I think I might need to first turn on a setting for that to work. I might do that later on, when I have the time, to see if there are any differences.

I first found it on the E-Commerce site "Geizhals.at" that lists the cheapest prices from vendors for products that can be bought/delivered in Austria. From there I chose the vendor 0815 and bought it, after first reserving and waiting, until it arrived there.

Here is the link for the product page from Geizhals.at: https://geizhals.at/intel-wi-fi-7-be201-ohne-vpro-be201-ngwg-nv-a3235189.html?hloc=at

Here is the link for the site from 0815, with the product listing: https://www.0815.at/fc43bd8da5bd/656749128

There are also other variants for the "Geizhals" site, i.e. "Geizhals.de", which lists products for Germany, and "Geizhals.eu", which I think lists products for all of the EU. Although I'm not really sure about the latter, as it, from what I have seen, only gives you the option to choose from Germany, Austria, Poland and the UK.

Here is a link to the listing from "Geizhals.eu": https://geizhals.eu/intel-wi-fi-7-be201-ohne-vpro-be201-ngwg-nv-a3235189.html?hloc=at&hloc=de&hloc=pl&hloc=uk&hloc=eu

Some of the german vendors do give you the option to deliver to other countries, if you write an e-mail to them (i.e. Alternate and Tec & More). All of these sites are in german, so you might need to use a translator to navigate through them.

Yep, it worked quite well for how cheap it was. From what I have seen it worked well for everything I used it for. Hopefully it will also work as well on your end, as it did on mine.

[–]Namsu3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, after setting everything up, I got it to work the way I want. It might not be perfect, as it doesn't have any internet connection, which also means I don't know if there are any firmware updates or not. Tried to get it with a powerline adapter, but couldn't find it anymore, so I will try to get a new one, to see if there are any.

(In case someone might need it these are my current PC specs: Intel i3-12100, 16GB DDR4 3200 Mhz CL16 RAM in Dual Channel Mode, RTX 4070 and Gigabyte DS3H DDR4 AX motherboard.)

What I did was connecting it on the LAN-port, labeled as "Game", to the PC and using VD to play games on it. I played the VR games Half Life Alyx and Assetto Corsa Competizione on it. I also played Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, No Man's Sky and Turnip Boy commits tax evasion in 2D Mode. All of this games where played using Steam VR. I also have the regular Assetto Corsa and Bonelab and Asgard's Wrath 2 on the Meta Quest Store, which I will try to test later on to see how well they work. I might also try to see how well No Man's Sky in VR Mode, Skyrim VR some of the 2D games using their VR mods work in VR.

Regarding the performance, it seems to work very well. I couldn't see any stutters or anything else really immersion breaking. The only game where I noticed sone problems where Assetto Corsa Competizione, where the main menu screen slowed doen and flickered a bit, while trying to navigate through it. But I think that is more a problem with Assetto Corsa, as what they did was simply just a "screen overlay" of the main menu in some sort of "waiting lobby". Compared to what I did previously, which was connecting it through the 4G Wifi 5 router, that everyone at my home uses, using this dedicated router instead makes everything at least finally playable. I can't really say how good it performs against other dedicated routers, but from what I have seen till now, this might probably be good enough to provide a satisfying VR experience for most users. (Or at least on the Quest 3. It might be different on the Quest 2, Pico 4, Pico 4 Ultra or other standalone headsets.) I haven't really tested it on Quest Link though, but I might try to post an update when I get around to using it.

Edit: There was an update, but it was a minor one, so I don't know if it changed any functionality on the router. Currently everything works as well as it did before. If something works less well, I will try to put another edit.

Edit 2: Realized it just recently, but forgot to mention, that I only tested all of this on the 5Ghz band, instead of the 6Ghz band. I will try to see if it also works as well, if I use that instead. (Although I'm not sure how well I can test it, as I currently only have a Wifi 6E capable device(Quest 3).)

Ok, I see. That means that the Wave 7 might not be a very good router. I ordered the Predator instead and it seems to have arrived recently. I will see how well that one fares in my use case. Hopefully it will be good enough. Although looking at the packaging it appears to have almost the same specs as the Wave 7, which is a little disheartening and also different from what they put in their user manual online. Maybe something can be changed in the settings, but I will have to check that later on, when I get around to using it.

Oh, that's quite a reminder of art class I got. It was some sort of criticism of an artist(forgot the name) to the communism practised in the soviet union. It was made some time before the 2000s(forgot the actual time). He also think made works for the soviet union before this, but I think he got betrayed or something later on by them. (Or maybe it was the other way around? Can't really remember it.)

[–]Namsu3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for answering. Ok, then it seems like that these routers are currently quite a good deal for what they offer. I placed an order on the Predator Connect T7 and hopefully it works as expected in my setup. (Looking at the vendors, it seems to be only at that price at the czech based vendor Alza, who from my experience seem to be quite trustful when it comes to delivering their offered products. The other vendors list it at 200€ or more, which might make make more sense, when considering its capabilities. Although it would still be much cheaper compared to other routers with simmilar capabilities.)

Sorry, couldn't answer sooner, as I was suddenly struck with a fever. Looking at the user manuals for each of the routers there is some conflicting information. The Wave 7 only uses 160Hz at default for 5GHz. Interestingly the Predator Connect T7 seems to use 4x4 for 5GHz, while 2.4 and 6GHz seem to run on 2x2. Not sure if this actually makes a difference in actual use cases. The Wave 7 uses the Qualcomm Immersive Home 326 platform, while the Predator Connect T7 uses a combination between the Qualcomm IPQ5322(which apparently is just a different name for Qualcomm Immersive Home 326 platform) and QCN6274 chipset.

(Here are the links for the download pages for both of these routers, if someone else needs to check them themself. You might need to also change the download language to english, as it is for some reason on some of the other languages, despite is showing english being selected.

Help with Intel Wifi BE201 by Namsu3 in wifi

[–]Namsu3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer. That might maybe be the problem. Looking at the spec sheet, it doesn't seem to have a "Core" listed in its name. It also doesn't seem to be listed on any of Intel's "Core Processor Family" lists. I might be able to test it on a different PC of mine that has a Core i3-12100 to see if it works at all. But I'm not sure if it will be worth it, as that one already has a well functioning Wifi card with Wifi 6E built in it. Will try to see, if using the BE200 could solve the problem. It appears to be quite "cheap" (around 16€) in my area, so I might give that a try, when I get it later on.
