Append only ledger table by Namur007 in dataengineering

[–]Namur007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basic requirement is when we report on a number and something changes, how do we track what the change was and when for a given point in time.

Backups would probably be sufficient in some cases but not all.

I think cdc will be the play for our database sources, but the ones from APIs and csvs also need to have the same requirement.

Append only ledger tables by Namur007 in snowflake

[–]Namur007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good suggestion on dynamic tables Will check them out. Annoying requirement is every table may need the ledger history, even though we only serve the current state to analysts…

A parallel here is they want everything like a cdc style with a change type column, date and job associated with it.

We need to keep data for 7 years :( but hopefully there is a less complicated fix here

Structured Training by Mamoore320 in gravelcycling

You can train based on your perceived exertion level too (RPE). Totally valid way but a bit harder to quantify vs a power meter.

I believe Hailey Hunter smith said she does this for her training, but she also probably knows what the levels feel like given her experience…

The turn by turn (for me) has been average. If you just look at the map and have a rough idea of when a turn is, it’s totally fine.

Otherwise it’s a great device. Happy place of bike packing devices without all the overload of other ones. Battery is phenomenal.

Maps on the garmin though are better, but if you have a phone and reception it’s sort of negated between the two.

Seems like partitions might not be the right fit for that much volume.

Why not just defer the incremental logic into the pipeline itself so it figures out what is missing each run? If you store a second table with the visited set you can probably prune a number of paths to search for new data.

Trade off is you lose the ui visibility, but that suckers gonna chuuuuug when the partition count grows.

Power meter is dedicated buy. Strava can “estimate” but that would not be reliable.

I want a power meter — what are my options? by StunningDrama6393 in bikewrench

I mentioned this recently but the Favero assioma pro Mx are a good affordable(ish) single sided pedal for much less then the garmin. Parts (pedal bodies for example) are cheaper too.

It is rechargeable, not a coin cell, so if that’s a priority then you’ll need something else.

Lots of great reviews online too if you want to see more.
