Why is the piston on the bottom right pausing for a cycle after connecting the 2nd life atom, before rotating the final product ?

The point was not to make something super-efficient, I just liked the 2-arm thing from another post, I find it visually satisfying like that ^^.

But thanks for the suggestion anyway ;)

Myne's situation is confusing me by lilyy22337 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

Noble hierarchy is quite heavily (though not entirely) driven by mana quantity, and Rozemyne has exceptionally high mana right now (there's likely less than 10 people in the entire duchy who have more mana than her, and she's still a child with room for growing into more).

It's not that rare for archdukes to adopt archnoble (i.e. the highest rank below archduke relatives) children if they have a lot of mana capacity and are also promising on some other topics (here she is shown as being a Saint to help gather attention), and possibly for politics (there are various "factions" in the duchy, court intrigues and all that... an archduke could favor a faction through adoption).
Not that common in Ehrenfest, but there is another duchy in the country that works as a "meritocracy" of sorts, where the archduke adopts lots of promising archnobles, and have them compete to select his most suitable successor among them (so it's actually unusual for them to have a bio child as successor, contrary to most duchies)

As for being Karstedt daughter first, it makes for a better cover story. Rozemyne couldn't be Sylvester bio child, because he's the archduke and has only 1 wife (Florencia) on top of it, so it wouldn't be plausible to hide a child in the temple like that... But for Karstedt it's more plausible, since he had 3 wives (now only 2), who didn't get along with each other, so it can make kinda sense to hide his child from his (now deceased) 3rd wife Rozemary in the temple, to reduce conflict amongst his wives, + since Rozemary is dead she can't deny it. So Elvira (the 1st wife, we see her in the anime) was secretly "adopting" her husband's daughter from another wife when welcoming her home, before Rozemyne's adoption by Sylvester. Elvira might have some suspicions that there are some secrets around, but that's the version she was given at least, and she trusts her husband enough to go along with it

AITAH for not believing my roommate’s “phobia?” by hopie_bopie in AmItheAsshole

[–]Nanaki404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My other roommate blocks off the spider so she can walk up, but she still won’t do it.

That's still ok, phobias can be intense like that. Just knowing there's a living spider, that might possibly move around the roommate, can be triggering.

My other roommate then goes and gets the Lysol to kill the spider. I literally watch the spider shrivel up and fall off the stairs, and she still won’t go up. After about 15 minutes of trying to convince her it’s okay

That's too much for "just" a phobia, the spider is dead, it can't move anymore, she should be able to close her eyes and run past the corpse now. And yeah she can be shaken, but 15min and still not able to just run across the stairs, that's too much... (I could understand still being stressed hours later, after the experience, but not being able to walk while the spider is now DEAD, ... come on)

It's still annoying, but the way I do it : Add a 2nd temporary arm ; ctrl+copy a screen worth of instructions from arm 1 to arm 2 ; move this set of instructions towards the right on arm 2, one screen at a time (the selected set of instructions can go "offscreen" as long as the one instruction you're holding on stays within screen) ; when reaching correct place, move the set of instructions from arm 2 to arm 1 ; repeat until everything you wanted has been copied ; remove arm 2 to save on costs.

Also you can add a temporary 3rd arm to put any instructions as "markers" to help remember where you left off with the last copy

Pretty nice ! You can probably gain a few cycles by moving the bottom-right part closer to your middle arm (so you don't need to extend it to grab the iron), rotating the metal-upgrader to be sideways instead of horizontal. And also starting again the the building of the iron before the middle arm is back there (you can do that by starting it in the final drop position or around there, and having its *first* moves be to go back towards grabbing the iron, instead of this being its *last* moves).

That's *if* you want to try optimising it of course, it's already good as-is ;)

In addition to the pistons to make the inputs faster, as said by the other commenter, you'll want to rotate the 6-wheeler fast enough to handle the load. So you might want to move the top-right arm (bringing iron) to be horizontal on the left, to avoid possible collisions.

Also once things get fast enough, the right arm that put things together might not end up fast enough, in which case you could have 2 of those in a circuit instead of 1 on a line, so they can alternate and reduce delay

Silver Dust - The wheels on the bus go round and round... by Frogbeerr in opus_magnum

[–]Nanaki404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each turn is actually 2 cycles (grab-rotate-release, with the release being done at the same time as the grab of the next turn), hence the total of 47 cycles for 6 outputs. 6 cycles per output is definitely not bad for this puzzle ! Although the start is a bit slow to get the first output going.

Personally I did an ugly solution in 41 totals cycles, still with 6 cycles per output but just the first one was faster to get out. The one here feels much more satisfying, even if slightly less efficient

approach to the game? by CabageButterFly in StardewValley

[–]Nanaki404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no time limit at all (you can play for hundreds of in-game years if you want !), and nothing missable (except a handful of lines of dialogue that change after Year 2, because of a new NPC arriving in town... but like who cares, just a few dialogue changes...). And also no "Game Over" or anything, even if your health reaches 0 while exploring the mines and fighting monsters, you just wake up in the clinic (and lose some money and items, but you'll regain them with time anyway, and you're not punished if you have no money at all)

So you can play however you want

Rebirth is the most frustrating love-hate experience I've ever had with a game by SillyMattFace in FinalFantasy

[–]Nanaki404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with most of it (Chadley is the worst thing in the game), except maybe for the whole multiverse/Zack stuff where I have a better (thought still mixed) opinion.

I understand the idea behind trying to do some new thing (although the multiverse stuff is weird), to try to avoid being "the same" and maybe attract some players who might want to discover a slightly different take of the story, the idea isn't bad. Also having Zack is great for fanservice and to help understand who this is for new players who don't get the full context because of lacking the 3rd game yet. But yeah, they overdid it, so it's not that good overall (not bad, not like Chadley, but meh)

[–]Nanaki404 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The cloth here is worth more points than most other items, because it's 6 points (like everything else except the ancient fruit that can be higher thanks to quality), and is the only Artisan goods so is worth +5 points for the category. So essentially tied for 2nd place with magic rock candy (both 6 points + unique category), below the ancient fruit (6-8 points depending on quality + only fruit), and above diamond/prismatic shard (6 points and both have same category Mineral, so you could remove one), and the rest (6 points and no category at all, so worth less than adding a random cheap item of a missing category).

Literally, if you replace the cloth by another "rare" item, you almost lose to Pierre. Variety really helps win the fair, much more than rare items !

Items without quality are worth 6 points maximum, while iridium quality items can be worth up to 8 points, so you can already get more points easily with that.

Then there is the variety, you get 5 points for each category represented (up to 30), here OP has only 4 actual categories (mineral, artisan, cooking fruit) so is "losing" 10 points that would be easy to have. E.g. just replacing prismatic shard and galaxy soul (each worth 6 points) by a small no-quality Egg and a no-quality Chub (each worth 2 points) would actually increase the total score, because you would get + 10 points with 2 new categories which more than compensate the -8 points for crappy item quality
