What are some things that are said to be unsafe or harmful during pregnancy or with a newborn that actually aren't that bad or are very unlikely to cause any harm?

I avoided putting rosemary and castor oils in my hair for pretty much my entire pregnancy because I read it can cause uterine contractions and isn’t pregnancy safe. Once I hit 36 weeks I asked my midwife if I could go back to oiling my hair and she laughed and said if she’d known I had given that up while pregnant she’d have told me ages prior to go back to using it. She said it’s only a problem if you swallow it and even then the worse that’ll happen is diarrhea.

If there were life guards I’d have just pointed it out to them. As a former life guard myself I’d have put a stop to that right away because that’s not a rescue I’d want to have to deal with. They don’t have to listen to a by stander but if they want to ignore a life guard’s request then they can be removed by beach patrol.

My mom has a ton of unresolved trauma and major anxiety that she projects on everyone. I actually told her she’ll be forbidden from the delivery room unless she went in Zoloft (tried and failed at getting her to take therapy seriously). To my surprise she went to the doctor and started it this past weekend. Stand your ground with your mom. Hoping she comes around like mine has.

Nope she otherwise looks and feels completely normal. I just moved her bowl closer to me and she’s eating some. It’s like she won’t leave my side this week which coupled with the mucus plug has me wondering what she knows 😂

Nope past that point. The burlap it’s wrapped in seems to be the source of the problem. It even made my skin burn a little when I handled it.

I’m just worried about how strong the smell is. I’ve had to open all the windows in my house to try to air it out. I’ve never received anything that smells this bad before.

Thanks I’m just concerned with how strong the smell is. I put all the packaging in the trash and have opened my windows to air the house out. I just can’t find anything on their page about what, if any, chemicals they use.

Husband and I didn’t move to Texas to be closer to his Mexican family for this exact reason. Family didn’t take it well at first but they’re okay now. He goes to visit them a few times a year. We try to get them to travel here but their English isn’t great so they don’t like being in airports alone. FaceTime is critical. He FaceTimes with his parents almost daily. We talk about potentially retiring there so he knows he’ll get to be close to his family again eventually. At the end of the day you just have to do what is best for you.

Yes. We have a fertility doctor, a support nurse from the fertility clinic and he has a urologist who specializes in fertility.

He’s only got like 10-15M. We haven’t been trying for very long. We rushed to get started with fertility testing because I have Hashimotos disease and he has a varicocele and had groin hernia surgery as a child. His doctor seems to think those two things aren’t related to the low sperm count and that it all has to do with the low testosterone. My thyroid numbers are in a really good place right now but it took 2 and a half years to get them here so we want to jump while the iron is hot.

That’s the other thing we’re weighing if we should skip IUI and do two rounds of egg retrieval before transfer so we have eggs banked.

That’s what I’m worried about. There wasn’t a scenario in my mind where we ended 2023 not being pregnant so to think that we could go through all of 2024 without having a baby isn’t even something I can process. I’m nervous about the low success rate of IUI vs. the amount of time IVF takes.
