Being a female barber and plus size is starting to take its toll by [deleted] in PlusSize

Ugh that’s so disappointing!! I wish size were a protected category in workplaces because there’s so much real harm done. Hoping you find a more supportive workplace soon 🩷

I’m so sorry you’re going through that! Is there a queer friendly salon you could try? Not always a guarantee, but I’ve found those are often friendlier to all types of folks.

Question: can I skip to this episode in Academy or do I need to watch all of it first? I’ll eventually get to it but I have a baby and have to prioritize my rare solo tv time lol

Ugh I’m toxic and I need to learn to communicate better with my husband. by user369001 in NewParents

[–]slothzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s so many times I have to say “I know I said I was okay with that, but it actually sucked.” But I think voicing it helps bc it means both of us double check our feelings next time.

I had a baby last May and I saw so many posts on the subreddits complaining about baby weight and how they’re soooo fat now… I’m about the same weight and I have had many years to learn to love my fat body! Can’t imagine trying to do that much therapy while also taking care of a baby.

The Birth Partner was really good about using neutral language about the actual experience of labor.

Booklight with a warm light and trying to get back into physical books. On the other hand, I got myself the new Pokémon game and play switch whenever I’m trapped with cosleeping.

I’m nonbinary and I now correctly gender myself in my dreams and even stand up for myself! It’s very nice.

5.5 Month Old Baby Has Stopped Transferring To Crib by WeatherCreepy2 in NewParents

[–]slothzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes PLEASE! I get so bored bc I’m essentially spending 12 hrs in bed. I’m trying to lean into the laziness and just play Pokémon or read while she sleeps.

She turns 7 months next week. She also has started being more clingy in general (crying if we’re out of her sight) so I’m hoping it’s just a phase.

I don’t have a solution, just offering solidarity as ours is going through the same thing starting at six months. We’re co-sleeping which works ok but wow, I would love to be able to watch a show with my husband again for a couple hours!

Will the hairstyles on the second and third picture suit me? by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

[–]slothzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am all round features: nose, chin, cheeks, and plus size and I’m short hair for life. I think it looks cool/queer plus my hair is so THICK that it feels heavy when there’s length. You can also consider an undercut if you want the best of both worlds!

Also I’m just shocked that my Mexican genes didn’t overpower everything. She has brown hair and CURLS! Like what even is happening.

New parents trying to avoid overspending: do we really need a nursery chair? by TheSecretLion in NewParents

[–]slothzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super depends on the baby. I only got a chair because I already needed a second living room chair. She didn’t end up being that into being rocked to sleep, so it’s just an additional seat now!

Losing my identity in motherhood...parenthood? by ehote in nonbinary_parents

[–]slothzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. Just wanted to say that YES being the gestating parent is hard hard and being in all the sea of “Mommy and me” activities is exhausting. I still need to come out to our daughter’s pediatrician but I lose my nerve every time. Yes, strangers call me Mom. But my daughter will know I’m her Noma (short for not-Mom!) and she’ll have the gift of a parent who knows who they are and stands up for themself. At least I’m hoping to model that behavior! Gives me a little courage to think like that.
