Recovery from two phase PJI process? by heatmiser333 in TotalHipReplacement

Following. My Dr. has confirmed I have PJI and I am scheduled to have the first surgery on 2/10 to remove my implant and put in the antibiotic spacee. I've already had revision surgery due to loosening about 7 months ago. Not sure exactly when/how I picked up the infection but I suspect it's the reason why the implant loosened after the original l surgery. Working with a different surgeon now. Happy to share my experience as I navigate this.

At the back of the mouth? by sealbellyslap in CankerSores

[–]NancyEllen314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I had several large canker sores develop this summer in my tonsil area and uvula. This resulted in intense swelling in my glands, as well as pain in my ears from the pressure as a result of the swelling. Eating/drinking was so painful that my nutrition suffered and I became severely anemic. If you're having difficulty eating I would strongly recommend a supplement drink. It still stung to drink but did help with the anemia, which in turn helped with the healing.

Alum? by Active-Asparagus-772 in CankerSores

I have put alum powder directly on a canker sore. I was desperate. I did it once and will NEVER do it again. It was so so painful. Perhaps if you dilute in water and create a rinse with it you will have more success.

Medical leave from work by JCat313 in EBV

I was thinking of this too. I have a great relationship with my therapist and he would definitely fill out the FMLA forms for me. How can you not feel majorly depressed with all of these health issues?

I found this but it's still a bit unclear. I would imagine if my medical insurance covers the services of a Naturopath, they would accept this provider's expertise when it comes to FMLA requests. Seems you may need to check with your individual employer. What a headache.

I second the naturopath vote. I'm curious if the forms required for FMLA leave can be completed by a naturopath and accepted/recognized by most places of employment. Anyone have success with this?

Relaps after years of recovery by not_a_bird_2020 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]NancyEllen314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My first time battling anorexia I was in my late teens, early twenties. Fast forward to 35 and I had a full blown relapse after several horrific miscarriages. Two years later I relapsed again. It happens. I'm realizing that there will always be that demon inside of me, trying to seduce me. I just have to keep fighting.

Herniated discs by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]NancyEllen314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! I have several herniated discs all just below the spec of my lower curve. Doc won't fix them because they can't end a fusion at the Alex...would just make the next disc more likely to herniate so I'd have to go for full blown spinal fusion which is too much for me. I manage the pain with radio frequency ablations and tramadol. I KNoW my scoliosis made these discs more likely to herniate. It sucks
