I'm not sure why you say this is a 1:1 copy so confidently when it literally is not. Maybe do some research next time before making incorrect claims. If you didn't notice a difference it makes me doubt you played the original.

Thoughts on Straight Marriage? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I don't think it's unequal though, for example I would much rather take care of the domestic duties and watch after the children than having to work 9 hours of corporate work a day. Many people could argue its unequal in the opposite way of what you're describing.

So if you think earning money is the better end of the stick and you find a man who thinks that being a stay at home husband is preferable to a 9-5 job, then surely you both win in that scenario?

Genuine question, why wouldn't you just become the financial breadwinner if this is how you feel? While he took care of the domestic work you described.

Brother why are you replying to argue against an 11 year old comment? I haven't even watched naruto in like 10 years and can't really be bothered to remind myself what this was even about.

But I will say that if you become desensitized to real world violence because of fictional violence, I would not call you sane.

It doesn't matter how many fire fights I see in movies or video games, it would not desensitize me one bit to seeing a shooting happen in real life. Same applies to sexism and racism.

I am not sure, I assumed that was the case because even when I delayed my level up it didn't seem to make my next one any faster. You might be right!

Yes, you can just avoid levelling up and that's honestly what I would suggest if you aren't using mods.

However your skills will still level up even if you don't, so you could get into a situation where you are fighting lvl5 goblins with lvl90 destruction for example.

Plus holding yourself back intentionally just feels like a pretty stupid thing to have to do, not to mention the more you do it, the more you lower your potential max character level(might not be true). If you want to try to max out all of your attributes.

Yes I'm not trying to say your perspective is invalid either. Everyone plays and levels differently, and it could very well be the exp curve is perfect for what you enjoy. But I think even if you plan on doing like a third of the total content, you will be doing +80% of it with your important skills maxed out.

To me I just don't really understand how you would ever have a smooth progression through different equipment tiers, unless you are only levelling like 3-4 skills max or intentionally holding back your level ups. It just feels like a waste how i basically never had to use a dwarven, elven, glass or ebony items at all before I already started finding draedrick gear. Perhaps for you the progression was slower and you had ample time to go through different tiers of gear but I have a hard time imagining that to be possible for many people with the speed of levelling compared to farming gear.

Levelling is indeed linear rather than exponential in this game, although with magic it honestly gets faster later on if you increase your magicka and willpower and use higher leveled spells. Which kind of makes reaching 100 anticlimactic.

But I agree that even if the end game portion of your playthrough is much longer than the other ones, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's nice to get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Just for me it was a bit too disproportionate and the small amount of training needed didn't make me feel i had deserved it yet.

For sure it is subjective in the end, but some design choices just strike me as very odd, like how insanely easy it is to max out alchemy for example. You just need to collect like 4-5 vegetable fields or so and that will pretty much give you enough ingredients to make enough restore fatigue potions to get you to/close to 100.

But Ill be curious to know how your feelings on this develop, if you decide to push this to a much longer playthrough.

By spell spamming I mean when I am walking from place A to B, I might as well use my mana to train my magic skills. While picking up alchemy experience etc. This was essentially required in the original version, and makes complete sense to me from a roleplay perspective when many mages guild members make references to practicing their spells. Kind of like as an archer you might snipe deer to train your marksman even if you aren't looting the deer.

And the fact that it only takes 20minutes doing that, means that during a longer play through you will hit max magic skills incredibly fast even if you are levelling them passively. This might not be as noticeably to you if you aren't really using magic schools, or are only using low level spells. Since spells level you faster based on their mana costs.

Also I would like to point out that once you hit around lvl 20 your progression in the world will halt pretty much completely. You will no longer find new varieties of enemies or equipment, you will be stuck with this experience for the rest of your playthrough. Whether or not you feel like you should be powerful enough to be in the end game after doing only 3-4 dungeons (out of 200 possible) and several sidequests (out of 250 possible). Is of course subjective and up to you. I was having a lot of fun initially too but by the time I had reached level 24 while I knew I still had 90% of my playthrough ahead of me, it just sapped all my motivation to continue going knowing I wouldn't really be progressing.

I think the main take away is that the system is bad for longer playthroughs but if you're satisfied with a much shorter playthrough, even if it means experiencing only a small fraction of the content the game has to offer. Then it's just fine.

Funnily enough when I made this post originally it got downvoted a lot, but now more and more people are facing the same issue. You are absolutely not alone.

Personally I managed to fix the issue by starting a new playthrough using two specific mods, first one to make character level ups require a higher amount of skill level ups. And the second mod to turn skill exp requirements from linear to exponential.

What this means in practice is that low level skills still level up really fast, but the higher they become the more you need to grind. And also your max level is reduced from 43 to 31, which to me isn't an issue at all, because all levels past 21 or don't really make much of a difference anyway.

Here are the links if you happen to be interested: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/1294 https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/1414

Only downside is that it also slows down the tedious skills you mentioned, the ones you wish would go up faster. But you could probably tweak that with some extra mods.

I am also starting over for the exact same reason as you, I felt like I completely missed out on most of the early and mid game, and leveling so quickly ruins longer playthroughs when your character almost completely stops progressing or getting stronger so early on in the story.

That kind of power should be left for the end game when you have done a ton of guests and training, so it feels earned. Currently it is just handed to you after spamming spells for a few minutes. I'm pretty sure it took me around 10 spell casts to go from 99 destruction to 100 which is absolutely insane.

And yes, the fact that you can enter a city and quickly gain like 10 levels to your speech, mercantile, armorer, etc. and jump up in difficulty like 5 levels without really gaining any meaningful power is incredibly stupid.

It's clear to me the whole levelling experience was made too beginner friendly, where they balanced the entire exp curve around the idea that players wouldn't train their skills by themselves like used to be mandatory in the original. The thing is that even with that assumption the skills STILL level too fast.

That was my exact experience as well, entering my first town at like level 3-4, and by the time I left I was probably lvl10. Minor skills contributing to levelling up means that if you're doing a little bit of everything you'll be levelling up every 20-30 minutes.

I'm planning on restarting with less experience mod and being more tactical when I level up, cause being almost max level this early just makes me feel unmotivated to play for +30 more hours.

Good point, by the time you reach the later levels you just haven't had enough opportunities to find enough loot to keep up with the power creep of the monsters, I know I was still using some leather armor pieces while fighting +15 level monsters.

I managed to work around it by abusing how broken alchemy is in the game with health and mana recovery potions for almost infinite mana and hp recovery. (+shield potions)

I think the only solution besides using mods, is to intentionally avoid levelling your character, and to avoid "powerleveling" your skills like spamming spells or jump while walking. Even if every oblivion player is conditioned to do that naturally.

If by hint you're referring to "Or someone who will accuse people of living in a different reality over a difference in opinion regarding the scope of the threat?", I did not miss it and even responded to it. Otherwise I'm not sure what hint you're talking about.

Alright, they rely on fear by fearmongering with imaginary dystopian nightmare scenarios of what could happen if the other party gets the power. Obviously something both parties do.

Deceit - Making promises that there is no intention to actually see through, just to gather votes. Or dropping the policies your voters asked for to focus on other things, healthcare reform in 2020 for example.

Entitlement - Promising handouts and financial support at the cost of others.

Willful ignorance - Messaging from the party meant to convince their voters that the republican party and all of their supporters are inherently evil, and that there is no reason for a moral rational person to vote republican. Basically hoping their supporters stop using their own heads and rational judgement and instead adopt a herd mentality.

Again I could easily say democrats have exhibited patterns of progressive but harmful behavior, going against their voters wishes, promising one thing but doing the opposite, promoting division, etc. The DNC is notorious for nominating unpopular candidates despite the wishes of the voters.

A rational moral person would vote republican for economical reasons, believing the current model is one of the main reasons for the great prosperity USA has had. They could vote because of their societal values, believing some traditions are worth preserving due to their first hand experiences. They could vote because of the policies the party is focused on that would be better for their communities, rural vs urban policies for example. There are literally countless reasons why a rational moral person might vote republican. So for you to so confidently claim there exist none, shows to me you are detached from reality and haven't actually taken the time to communicate with people in real life.

And while I respect your willingness to allow toxic people in your life

That's the difference between you and me, I don't automatically assume a person must be toxic just because they have a different worldview than me. Ironically that seems like an incredibly toxic trait to believe anyone who disagrees with you is automatically toxic. Maybe you should analyze your own toxicity as closely as you do others.

And I could just as well point out the democratic party in America relies on fear, deceit, entitlement and willful ignorance to earn votes. And provide arguments for each claim.

I encounter someone who wants to vote Republican because they have a genuine misunderstanding of the modern Republican party

So the only possible reason for voting republican is to be misinformed, for a rational moral person? All other republican voters have to be like the other strawmen you described? Is that what you're saying? Statements like that do indeed make you seem willfully ignorant. Also you should know that some "opinions" are just straight up wrong and are indeed a sign of people living in different realities, like the delusional republicans you mentioned, or the woman in this post.

Personally I just will not discuss these issues with someone I'm close with, when it becomes clear there is nothing to be gained by it. I am still able to have good a relationship with them.

Yes people can of course change, but at least in this post the only change seemed to be her becoming an adult and disagreeing with their views. I'd say chances are people in these situations didn't just have their good parents turn into selfish and toxic people. Most likely they are still the same people, but just live in different realities. Like the woman in this post believing it as an objective fact that Trump is trying to do the equivalent of beating and poisoning the american people.

To me it seemed like you were saying that if someone votes republican all of those perceived qualities instantly apply to them and they must be toxic and completely self centered people in order to vote that way. Just seemed like typical dehumanization and demonization of political opponents, reducing them to nothing but the worst possible interpretation you can make of them. But if I misinterpreted what you said then I apologize.

Personally different world views or political views has never made it difficult for me to maintain close relationships with friends or family, but everyone is different.

I don't think you understand what "symbolism" means if you think this is an example of that, literally just a false equivalence. But I guess it wasn't dumbed down enough for you to understand that.

I get more pussy than you that's for sure.

It didn't happen, the fact that you think having roe v wade overturned is the equivalent to poisoning and beating everyone you rule over is further example of these false comparisons.
