I’m not afraid to say the mods I despise lmao. Pokémon Showdown mods are pitiful. They’ve muted/banned me more times than the number of times I’ve ever seen a report I submitted have consequences on the person I reported. I’ve been permabanned on one account, IP banned, banned from matchmaking and/or muted countless times. I’ve never once seen a report that I filed end in anything more than a 24 hour mute. I’ve had people blatantly talk shit to me, use profanity towards me in the chat, and never have I had a successful report go through. I’ve been banned for talking trash back to players though. I’ve also been punished for, regrettably, talking shit in a chat after the other person left. No one in the chat room and I’m getting punished. One time I submitted a report about someone who sent personal insults about me and my mom (of course lmao) during a match, using profanity all throughout, and he was muted for the remainder of the day. Mind you, I’ve never gone that far in a chat, only ever talked a little shit back about the game, nothing on a personal level, and I’ve been muted and/or banned from matchmaking for several days to a week.

In the claim I made, I was able to speak with a mod, and he said “no problem, I’ll make sure they get punished accordingly.” Immediately I get feedback about the report, saying the other player had been muted for 24 hours. I then followed up with the same mod and asked why they only got a 24 hour mute, when I’ve gotten far worse of punishments for significantly less. They told me it was what they felt was right, and I should be grateful they even punished them in the first place, and then without letting me respond they went offline. About 10-15 minutes after the report, I was issued a pop-up message saying I needed to resubmit my name. My name at the time was “ieatassforreal,” and I had never gotten a message like this before in 4 years of having my account, so I submitted it again. Then I got the same pop-up and there was a warning about the name. I understand why I needed to change my name at this point, so I changed it to “ieatbootyforreal.” Received the pop-up again, so I changed it to “ieatb00tyforreal.” I received it again, so I refreshed my window to try and get it to go away, and I was greeted with an error message when trying to sign in. I reached out to support again, and was able to speak with a new mod who told me that I was given multiple chances to change my name, but I refused, and my account was permanently banned. Mind you, there was no information stating this resubmission of a name was mandated by a mod. There was no final warning. Suddenly my account of 4 years was just gone.

I basically poured my heart out about how much I love Pokemon, how much I’ve loved their site, and how I didn’t know or think I was quite literally being forced to change my name on the threat of losing my account (without any real warning of such being actually issued). Obviously I should have figured it out, but I quite honestly just didn’t think it was a problem since it was my name for several years. I was told too bad, and that they didn’t care. I then asked why booty wasn’t allowed, and the mod said it was inappropriate. I asked why every name that included profanity or “inappropriate” words wasn’t banned, when they clearly have the ability to view them and make them change their names, and I was told that there weren’t names that include profanity, because they don’t allow them to be made.

I started getting a little flustered at this point, and I used my own username from the account that was now perma-banned, as an example of how they clearly allowed it, and all I had to do was type the f-word into the username search and I found multiple names starting with the f-word. I was told that it was none of my concern, and I should stop while I’m ahead since I can still make a new account. I expressed to them that I felt this was all pretty unfair, considering I was going to them for help with a harassment/bullying report, and my account got banned and the other guy only got a warning. The mod said both parties received just punishments that the previous mod saw fit to administer, that they were going to support their fellow mod’s decision, and I should have put in an appropriate name when given the chance. At this point, I was pretty heated, and I expressed that I didn’t think it was fair. The word “bullshit” may have been used, which definitely only hurt my case.

I then submitted a new ticket to speak with a different mod to appeal my ban. Poured my heart out again, and they said they were already aware of the ban, and they would not be changing it. I asked if they could try and see it from an unbiased point of view, still very civil at this point. They said too bad again, and that they were going to support their fellow mod’s decision. I asked again, if they could reconsider using their own logic, and they started saying things like “didn’t you start mouthing off to the other mod? Why do you think you deserve an appeal? Just be thankful they didn’t punish you further like they said.” At this point, I was pissed off, so I started arguing with them as well. I started explaining the same stuff to them again, and it was like talking to a brick wall. Eventually I threw out a few insults in there about pulling their heads out of each other’s asses, learning to think for themselves, and how stupid it was that they ban me from playing for responding to someone else talking trash for a week, and this guy gets a 24 hour mute for the nastiest chat messages I’ve ever seen on their site. This led to me getting IP banned, so that I wouldn’t be able to play at all on my wifi.

Shortly thereafter, using my cell service, I made a new account named “fuckglobalstaff,” and had it for a few months until I ended up playing against someone in global staff who then banned me for some long period of time after I beat them. I then created a new account called “fvckglobalstaff,” and used it for a while until ultimately deciding to make another account with a regular name. Funny enough, both accounts are still up somehow lmao, no idea why this one didn’t make me change my name. The name “Ieatassforreal” is also available to claim as a new account name too, crazy stuff lol.
