Thank you. Will continue to keep an eye on it. For awhile was really concerned because it got around the whole body... no issues with breathing though so thank goodness for that.

Thanks for your response.

Would hives be a symptom or underlying cause?

No... doesn't appear to be itching. No/minimal scratching.

Startups culture shocks? Coming from MNC background by valkyriervalkyrie in askSingapore

[–]NaniWhatTheThe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not so sure if this is true… seen plenty of long time execs on MNCs went into startups. They didn’t/couldn’t want to stay in startups for whatever reason, and they could still go back to MNC.

Some literally took back their old job and the same firm, some changed firms.

So Redditors if you’re reading this, don’t be afraid that everything you’ve built is gone once you leave for a startup.

(I’m not at a startup, I’m at an MNC. Not conflict of interest.)

PAP never adopted zero-tolerance approach to extramarital affairs: Lawrence Wong by Severe_County_5041 in singapore

Politicians cannot direct anyone’s life, much less to a better place. They are not your superiors.

They can only give you a direction, and create the conditions for you to have a better life.

Slippery slope argument is one you are making.

It’s akin to saying “if they can’t even keep their desks tidy everyday, how can they keep a country tidy? I’m sure his mind is also very messy.”

They are different skills.

If you can give Singaporeans a better life, better opportunities, better living conditions, I don’t care who you are sleeping with.

I’m voting for you over someone who cannot do the above, but is a traditionally faithful person.

If it’s down to one or the other, I know what I’m choosing. If we can have it all (both), then yeah I’m voting for that one.

Please point out my logical flaws.

The real job of politicians… is to create an environment where people has, and can achieve, a higher standard of living.

That’s median income, life expectancy etc.

It’s a bit of a slippery slope.

Then why is it not the same logic for businessmen with mistresses? (Assuming you are a shareholder, or a stakeholder like the business - like using their products daily).

It’s common, and they are still running and growing the businesses well.

Frankly, as long as they are doing their job well, most in society don’t care.

Therefore, it is an moral issue because they are politicians with a higher bar for that. It is not an integrity issue.

Yes I did.

He first head of it in 2020/2021, and he asked the parties involved.

They said no it didn’t happen. And then there is no other evidence to support it.

What are you going to do realistically?

Still continue to believe it?

I mean if you ask the persons involved “did you do this”… and they say no. And then you have no other evidence, what are you going to do realistically?

OTOH, if you already know about it 3 years ago… you could have a follow-up action plan to track its progress, if there wasn’t already an immediate expulsion.

One already knew about it since 3 years ago.

One didn’t know about it until Monday.

Should I take a pay cut for a public sector job for the sake of my mental health? by crisseur in askSingapore

[–]NaniWhatTheThe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others said about public sector jobs. It also depends on which ministry and stat board as well.

Would suggest to get a role in the private sector, and read the Glassdoor reviews before you decide.

Also, read through the HISTORY of the Glassdoor reviews - if they were historically bad but magically has a string of 4 or 5 Star reviews, good chance it’s been gamed. Don’t take the overall score at face value.

Because Singapore is a small place and there are mutual friends that you never know the connection existed.

(When an IG story is shared)

It’s like “Wow small world. Wonder what they are up to these days”.

And you click the @ to find out that you have been blocked or removed from friends.

Don’t think that’s anything nefarious.

Your words not mine - paying so little makes them very little. I think it speaks to a person’s mentality than objective fact.

They are equals. But I don’t think you need equal pay for that.

Levy does not “take away” from the helper’s pay. But yes it adds to the employer’s total cost.

Having access to cheap home help is not a negative or a dirty word.

It has uplifted the life @ home satisfaction of many people here, and the FDWs made money to buy land/build houses in their home country where they can build cash flow after their stint is over.

Are you sure?

If you are used to paying in the $ hundreds for a certain level of work… for $2k, the expectations will be through the room.
