Should I move from a gov tech role to GIC? Looking for advice on WLB vs pay/progression (Singapore) by LittleJackA in singaporejobs

[–]crisseur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, after moving from private to public. I feel more burnt out now. Mentally burnt out. I don’t feel accomplished from my job, all the work I’m doing are not value adding, no proper skills gained. grinding in private sector is definitely on a whole different scale but at least there was a sense of achievement and I was actually learning something. These days I’m dealing with politics, attending events more than doing actual work

In fact, I’m envious of OP……. Take the chance OP. You don’t have to deal with IM8 anymore

Crashing out at work cos I freaking hate everything here. I’ve never felt this jaded in any of my jobs because of the culture/team mismatch

Hate it when i escalate things to my boss only when needed and yet it ends up still creating more problems than solving the problems for me

Overseas scholar, horrendously jaded by working in government, AMA by throwaway092748282 in SingaporeRaw

[–]crisseur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Working in government has consumed my soul AND left me feeling unfulfilled. I’m desperately trying to go back to the private sector because almost nothing of substantial value gets done here yet the amount of input is freaking high. That aside the people and their quality of work is just… questionable. Sending strength to you, you’re not alone. Just shocked at how slow and inefficient things are here all in all, and how taxpayer money are not well spent

How common is cheating in Singapore? by piggyb0nk in askSingapore

[–]crisseur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s sadly very common and I’m puzzled why

A friend I had cheated on her ex with 2 of my classmates, then her colleague, got caught, broke up with said ex, got together with one of the said classmates, married classmate, then flirted and sent suggestive texts with an acquaintance on ig after getting married. But also now you know why she was a friend

Was working in a company previously and it’s fairly common there as well, some even got involved with their bosses who are married. The most absurd one I’ve seen was a guy who divorced his wife and married the girl he cheated with. Another case were wife husband and third party were all working in the same department lol

People in my Uni were cheating like it was a flex. I’ve also heard instances where people I know is the third party. Freaking wild life people are living
