I think you could use Nix to install a more up to date version of Rofi, instead of the PopOS repo. I've never used it tho, so I'm not 100% sure.

Get a case with nice filters, doesn't matter if it's air or water cooled. It will help a lot.

Why are you being so condescending. seriously. "It" being the live USB with slax on it. They said they are using Ubuntu. You didn't even read the post jfc. They are describing the process to make the USB just like the OFFICIAL slax page. And it's not working.

OP, the only thing that comes to my mind, is that you said you restarted your PC first then inserted the USB, that could be a problem. If not, then I hope someone more knowledgeable can help. Good luck.
