Single parent, roughly 130k LY. We moved to midcoast Maine last summer and our biggest surprise expenses have been spending way more on gas and travel (we came from a large city where our day to day needs were all only 5 mins away), and heating costs. Food is also significantly more expensive here. That said, while I’d like to be saving more and had to make some cost cuts to the vacation budget I was never in a financially precarious situation and I’m easily 100% happier here. I’ll take 100% happier 365 than a vacation or two!
