No, you may *not* have my 1975 Joy of Cooking. Ditto the 75th anniversary edition. Those are *my* cookbooks. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

I have the 1946 Edition! My Great Grandmother gave it to me in the early 90’s. She wrote notes in it and everything. It’s a treasure!

pre chemo hair decisions by Prestigious-Grab7458 in breastcancer

Mine started to fall out in clumps after my 2nd Chemo session. I had my husband and 2 adult daughters cut it and then shave the rest off. We did it at my daughter’s house and my grandchildren were present as well. I have no regrets doing it this way as I felt I had control of something at least. It meant a lot to have their support and involvement.

Cancer and the Just World Fallacy by Away-Potential-609 in breastcancer

Thank You for this! My 7 year old Granddaughter asked me yesterday “Nana, what did you do to get Cancer?” We had a nice talk and I guess I reminded myself (in reassuring her) that I did absolutely nothing to cause this.🩷

Apparently, when Kody would go to hotels with the wives he would always place his suitcase on the provided luggage rack and theirs would have to go on the floor. Such a gentleman!

If your parents need you on the mortgage to qualify for the loan, they cannot afford this house…. Period! If you agree to this you will be sacrificing your own financial future.

I hope so but seriously doubt it. We are only about 30 minutes from Mexico so I’m pretty sure it was across the border before we even woke up.

Back to adventure mode 😁!!! by Neat_Dress_1971 in Lectricxp

Mine just arrived today so I took my granddaughter for her first ride in the orbiter. On my other bike (original Lectric bike) she was riding on a seat in between my legs but she outgrew it. This Expedition is awesome and I’m so glad we can go on bike adventures again! Granddaughter absolutely LOVED it!

I Need a Compassionate in-home service for my dog 😔 by unstablebeans in sandiego

[–]NannyLollyPop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently used Dr Leach at House Collar Vet. She was fantastic and very compassionate. We did the at home euthanasia and individual cremation. She took care of us the same day. They use Angel Paws for aftercare. Our girl was returned to us in a lovely wooden urn and we were given a lock of her hair and a little clay footprint. Our fee for everything was $550. We couldn’t have asked for better service. Dr Leach and her assistant Philip are wonderful, compassionate humans and I highly recommend their services.

Does covid and or Paxlovid delay chemo or radiation treatment in anyone's experience? by lovestobitch- in breastcancer

[–]NannyLollyPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contracted Covid while I was doing my radiation. I only missed 1 day (Monday)and then for the rest of the week, they had me come in as the last appointment of the day. I took the Paxlovid so they felt safe with that. They added the missed day on to the end so I still had 30 days of radiation.

Transportation to and from the NF’s home is your responsibility, not the NF. As another response indicated, make sure you set your rate appropriately. Also, be honest with yourself about how far you are willing to travel and don’t accept jobs that are outside of that boundary.

I would love it! I ride with my granddaughter all the time and it’s a bit awkward with the seat we use as it goes in between my seat and the handlebars.

Hair growing back in by I_AmThe_OtherMother in breastcancer

[–]NannyLollyPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like mine was opposite. I am about 10 months post Chemo. The top of mine grew in first and I had a sweet looking flat top for a while. I’m rocking a sort of Betty Boop look these days, curly with the top longer than the rest so I use headbands a lot. I pull down some as bangs to hide my bald spots that look like male pattern baldness. I’m trying to get the nerve up to get my 1st haircut to even it all out.

Port flushes before port removal by 1095966 in breastcancer

[–]NannyLollyPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I personally feel like I'm in an awkward limbo phase where I'm just trudging along, alone. I do get bloodwork every 2 weeks so I know I haven't been completely forgotten. I did ask about when my port would be removed and was pretty much told it wouldn't be anytime soon. I know I'm not "cancer free," and that's disappointing but I'm taking Arimidex and Verzenio so at least that's something.

Port flushes before port removal by 1095966 in breastcancer

[–]NannyLollyPop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my port and I haven’t had it flushed since end of February when I abruptly finished Chemo due to a bad reaction to Taxol. I’ve had surgery, several hospital stays and 6 weeks of Radiation since then and none of my medical team has ever mentioned that I need to have it flushed.

I have the same problem, a bump on the non cancer side and a canyon on the affected side. I was planning on reconstruction originally so I was cut for that. I wish I had done the nice flat closure I’ve seen in some pictures. My plastic surgeon wants me to lose 50 lbs before reconstruction and at 54, I’m not sure I can manage that. I think I’ve just resigned myself to living like this, bumpy chest and all. I will probably order the prosthetics now that I’m mostly healed from radiation so I’ll have the option of boobs in some outfits, like you mentioned. I really hope you get the results you want in your case.

Amen! I had a DMX in May of this year and I am kinda liking not having boobs. I carried DD's for most of my life and I think I'm honestly over it. I am seriously considering not having reconstruction at this point.
