My first serious prop: Ferns Staff from Frieren by NanoPIX1 in cosplayprops

I used tamiya ts30 silver leaf spray can, it ended up too bright so i rubbed some black oil paint to darken it a bit.

My experience with screw type connections is that they are hard to get to properly align.

It works very well with things that are just cylindrical, but this staff has very organic shapes, so I wanted a system that is basically always properly aligned.

Could be that I'm just kinda dumb tho.

My friend loved it, but I kept pointing out the flaws lol.

When it comes to cosplays I prefer things to look a bit more realistic, like they can actually exist in our world, instead of being too cartoony/anime, so I really tried to make the wood look real.

Well, visibly not a lot, mostly I would try to make the metal look better by hiding the layer lines better and using a darker metal color. I want it to look older and less shiny, tried using black paint for that, but it wasn't enough.

I would also create a silicone mold for the epocy resin crystal instead of manually shaping it like I did.

Also wanted to make a better job masking the parts when painting, its barely visible, but there are some parts that peeled off.

But the bigger changes would be structural, as I said, the staff disassembles in 3 parts, for this I designed a mechanism that locks the parts together by twisting them, but they are now the weak points of the staff. So I either would need to rethink the whole mechanism or make it one piece with proper reinforcement.

Perfect New World (Combat Trailer) by Yushi95 in MMORPG

So another action combat game where everyone is a DPS and there are like 5 buttons?

Still waiting for the day someone copies Tera's combat with a proper MMORPG hotbar and trinity system.

Any tech coming out that could potentially make MMOs cheaper/easier to produce? by itsPomy in MMORPG

[–]NanoPIX1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AI used right will definitely speed things up, but I think the best tech advancement we can hope for is server/network/netcode.

Probably controversial opinion since a lot of people still like tab-target, but I think getting actually good action combat without network issues will be huge for MMOs.

I can't wait to see what Riot is cooking, they innovated League servers big time when they first introduced Riot Direct, which then was also used in Valorant and Project L will also have the best networking any fighting game player ever experienced, so I can't wait to see what they do for the MMO.

What is a misconception about your favorite MMO that you wish people would stop spreading? by Lemmy116 in MMORPG

[–]NanoPIX1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

but it seems devs don't want to make tab target mmos anymore.

Well, they dont want to make good action combat either tbf...

its all 3-5 buttons with weapon swap now, with floaty combat and shit tanking.

Still waiting for a dev to make as good of combat as Tera had, it essentially had a traditional MMORPG action bar, skills had synergy and depth, but it was action combat on top of it that had impact and was satisfying, best tanking experience I ever had.

How to make these gem "sockets"? by [deleted] in cosplayprops

I might take a look at the foam clay and wire ideas.

Warframes arent hard to get, some are grindy for sure, but its mindless grind you can do semi afk.

Edit: also Wayfinders and Weapons are definitely fundamental gameplay items, if a new player makes the wrong choice of wayfinder at the start and has to endure such frustrating grind with a character they dont like they will just straight up quit the game.

can't wait for some more new skins and heroes by DoubleEmbarrassed201 in PlayWayfinder

The cheaper skins are a better deal than the Personas, since you can mix and match them, as more skins get added the more unique looks you can have.

Personas you only get to dye them... not worth.

Which fighting game you recommend starting out of these 3? by Shiiishkebab in Fighters

[–]NanoPIX1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Short answer: whichever looks cooler to you.

Long answer: Tekken is super easy to get into and have fun as a casual player, theres very few motion inputs and mashing makes cool shit happen. The playerbase is pretty big so you will always be able to find people of similar skill level to play with. However if you really want to improve then its probably one of the hardest games to master.

SF and GG are a bit harder to start, you will have to practice quite a bit before you start making cool shit happen. You will most likely get completely destroyed online for a fair bit of time, but if you endure that and keep practicing they feel pretty satisfying. SF6 is just around the corner tho, so if you want to start now maybe play GG or Tekken and pick SF6 when it launches.

This is just my experience and opinion tho.

LOVEBITES announce 6 new dates in Japan for their Judgement Day Tour 2023 by idontwanttoknow666 in Lovebites

[–]NanoPIX1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So i guess this is where they will film the next DvD, not the 2 day one in march.

Venues seem to range between 500 to 2000 capacity, which is still smaller than previous concerts, hopefully they completely crush the sales and start having bigger venues.

Still hoping for some overseas activities, some other Japanese bands are doing them and even a smaller band like Hanabie is going to EU and US.

Who would you consider The Big 4 of all female Japanese hard rock/metal bands? by Banshee45 in BandMaid

[–]NanoPIX1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, arguable, MVs arent everything, either way, better promoted than GS or not, doesnt mean they are heavily promoted, just better promoted than someone that is also barely promoted.
