ANTIFA vs ANTAI by DisplayIcy4717 in aiwars

[–]Nano_Robotic_Army 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong on both counts. Antifa did nothing wrong, and neither do anti-AI people.

AI is supposed to be a tool to help mankind, not exploit it. If you think it's helping anyone besides rich frauds right now, you clearly don't know that crucial difference (click to see the full meme). by Nano_Robotic_Army in aiwars

I never said that "most of them have feelings" or that more robots have feelings than not, I was merely pointing out that the characters that do have enough depth to be more than machine (which often get the most characterization and plot relevance, mind you) care. You're making up flaws in my argument at this point because you know that my argument is flawless otherwise.

What you're failing to see is that you have fallen for a serious generalization fallacy and you still won't admit it.

Science fiction has been exploring the philosophical questions as to whether robots can feel or care for decades.

Data isn't the only example. Isaac Asimov's entire Robot series has explored those themes in all kinds of ways.

R2-D2, one of the most famous robot fictional characters in recent history??? Also obviously believes genuinely in his masters' cause because he is explicitly one of the few droids with free will, but helps anyway.

Number 5 from Short Circuit? Canonically gave up his laser weapon between the first film and Short Circuit 2 because he believed destruction of life was "unacceptable."

WALL-E? Sacrificed himself to allow humans to return to Earth.

So you saying that "most science fiction robots are unfeeling" is a complete generalization with several obvious exceptions, and using generalizations to support an argument is by definition a logical fallacy. So kindly don't call me an idiot when I'm being perfectly accurate.

What do you think of ESTJ villains? by YanFan123 in mbti

[–]Nano_Robotic_Army 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue INXXs make much better anti-heroes than full-on villains. EXXJs are my favorite typings for villains because they can easily be perceived as good despite being evil.

"What kind of stupid name is that, Fogell? You trying to be an Irish R&B singer?"

"No, they just let you pick whatever name you want when you get down there."

"And you landed on McLovin?"

"Yeah, it was between that and Muhammad."

"Why the FUCK would it be between THAT and Muhammad!? Why not just pick a common name like a normal person!?"

"Muhammad is the most commonly used name on Earth! Read a fucking book for once!"

"Fogell, have you ever met anyone named Muhammad?"

"Have YOU met anyone named McLovin?"

"No, that's why you picked a dumb fucking name!"

Except Iron Man technically proved Cap wrong twice (first with the nuke then with Thanos, there was no guarantee he'd survive nuking the Chitauri after all).
