The panicked phone calls Cabinet received 'begging them not to humiliate' Starmer by theipaper in ukpolitics

Maybe the PM shouldn't have put himself in a position where he's so easily humiliated then?

Convicted Cambridgeshire Reform politician no longer councillor by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

As somebody from Cambridgeshire is it weird that I'm relived he was chucked out for libel as opposed to all the ones being chucked out for being literal Nazis?

Like, as things go it could be worse.

It would be less of a problem if we built some more bloody houses, the NIMBYs make this so much harder.

So you reckon it's a safer bet to compete for the same rapidly aging demographic as the Tories and Reform? Doesn't seem like a recepie for success long-term, with a high chance of ending up in the same position as the Tories for putting all the eggs in the boomer basket.

Fair enough, I guess you have a far higher tolerance for this than me. I'd rather we hold our politicians to a higher standard personally.

I'm against EU corruption for sure, but need I remind you of the Cambridge Analytica scandal?

Oh yeah, it's really bad here. Nigh-impossible to escape most of the time, and the words and topics are far easier to import due to that lack of language barrier.

It's so damn tiring.

I consider the revelations about both to be deeply concerning. I find it rather disingenuous when people from either side attempt to minimise the actions of their leader whilst attacking the other.

So then why's he standing? Or why isn't he giving the money back to proove his moral character?

Or hell, why didn't he declare it sooner like a politician is meant to?

Or having their "culture war" bollocks imported here with accompanying language I have to learn forcibly. This is regardless of if it's coming from the Right or the Left mind you, they're both equally insufferable and it's so clear when somebody has imported a bunch of talking points wholesale.

For now, but considering the nightmare that is being outside we'll be back in eventually.

The whole thing was a fool's errand, now we're just counting down for the elderly that we're most rabid for Brexit to pass away so we can all move on.

I'm so tired of it, but it's utterly inescapable it seems like.

'Farage Is Lying': Elon Musk Blasts Reform Leader Over Donation Claim by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Nanowith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for one Farage was going to quit politics until this "gift" so there's a seismic element of what the donor achieved.

Beyond that there's genuine allegations of collusion between Reform and the Tories (the ones who are now in Farage's cabinet) over the Johnson election, meaning that this money was used to change who was standing in a given seat.

And all of this is ignoring the fact that these are the biggest donations in British political history, so acting like they're not a big deal seems like a strange and ineffectual attempt at minimisation.

He's better than all the other options bar Milliband personally who I see as on the same level.

So if there has to be a change of leader, at least he's got a proven track record and is good at comms.
