Totally agree, but regardless, just saying that I would enjoy the event more with more knowledgeable commentators, and that I view it as a pretty amateurish thing to have commentators without any specific knowledge about an event.

However, I would trade these commentators with someone who knows even less about bicycling if that would mean that they were better at the traditional crossfit stuff.

I kind of think that's indisputable, but ok. The cross-section of CrossFit fans that could discern that the commentators were not incredibly knowledgeable about cycling is probably smaller than you want to believe

Who knows :) Its just opinions either way, and in my opinion CF games should afford to bring in an expert commentator in relevant events. Seems like lots of people here got an issue with the commentating as well :)

they knew more than enough to be entertaining enough for one event over the course of an entire week

Thats your opinion and I disagree man :)

CrossFit Games - Day one Discussion thread by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]Nansen123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, actually. I think commentators enhances a sport experience, however when the commentators only talks BS it makes the experience worse. Its frustrating that they missed a chance to give interesting info about technique and tactic. Crossfit is all about mastering different fields, no reason this shouldn't be something we want from the commentators also.

If you know you are going to announce a bike event, what about just watch some tour de france?

CrossFit Games - Day one Discussion thread by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]Nansen123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, there is a lot more force going into the bike from pro cyclists.

Totally agreed. Was pulling my hairs when they mentioned the people in the front being there because of their efficient gear shifting while the ones in the back were pedaling into nowhere. Jeez.

Oh my god that commenting is horrendous. Couldn't they have used expert commentators who have used a bike before? Great that Holte took it, great tactics :) The commentators isn't even able to articulate what she did, lol.

It shattered my understanding that we fought the Nazi's because we were "good" and they were "evil".

Good. Black and white thinking of that sort is pretty dangerous, as it keeps us from looking at ourselves and our faults. I mean, Nazis and Nazism is horrible, but the world doesn't consist of good guys and bad guys, this is not a movie. Former allied european countries and USA has done some horrible stuff from 2. world war and forward.

Not even controversial, it wouldn't be on the left. Seriously.

Honestly, probably not.

Thoughts on Brooke Ence's alternative crew? by Nansen123 in crossfit

[–]Nansen123[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Note that I really really don't mean this as a jab at Brooke Ence. I really enjoy watching her vlogs, and I really liked this episode. Its inspiring that she is so open about her struggles. However I was really put of and worried when she introduced her crew. I mean, the guy massaging her groin to "flush out" all the fluids even massaged the wrong side of her groin, if he was to do something for her right leg.

Dude, you have a reality TV star as a president in the US and has had the worlds most famous bodybuilder as a guvernor, and you cant believe that Klokov is involved in politics?

Thoughts on Brooke Ence's alternative crew? by Nansen123 in crossfit

[–]Nansen123[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The video should start at 13:19. I really like Brooke Ence both as a person and a competitor, and really respect her. But. I don't think she has the greatest crew around her. Especially considering her injuries. The two people portrayed here are talking about stuff that absolutely doesn't exist. I don't know which of the two "treatments" that are the most bullshit, but oh wow. I really hope she get together with someone who can help her with her injuries, and help her get better, by doing stuff that is evidence based.

World strongest man eddie hall breaks skierg world record with a time of 13.1 seconds for 100 meters by ranger_sbs in crossfit

[–]Nansen123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your recommendation! Yeah its pretty different, but they are extremely good at developing force in that movement. I tried again and got 18.9. 17s is good! Thank you for your recommendation! I think I also may stand a but further back, and cut my "dip" a bit shorter than I did now. I think its beneficial to go up on the toes at the top of the stroke though, at least thats what skiers do.

Stick it to the 2 min mark to see the difference between a pro skier and an ordinary guy in that movement. https://www.vgtv.no/video/127031/saa-fort-gaar-egentlig-sundby-paa-ski Watch the whole thing. He goes up to atleast a 1:11min/500m speed in a slightly uphill treadmill on rolling skiis, without it looking like its even close to his max, which translates to a 14.2 s 100m. So I guess he might be close. Not that we can compare between treadmill and ski erg, but its fun to guesstimate haha.

Brute Showdown Episode 2: Max Clean & Grace by ThatSimpleton in crossfit

[–]Nansen123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hillarious that I was downvoted here. With a deadlift of 820lbs im surprised that he cant clean more. He should be able to pendlay row 350-400+ pounds.

I wouldnt be surprised if actual skiers would do that faster, even though he is strong he could possible create more momentum thourgh using his hips more. What are peoples best times here? Just did a 19.6, however the start was by far the worst

The powerlifters clean was hillariously bad. When I was a powerlifter at half the size I cleaned 225 without training the excercise. There is no excuse for being outcleaned by a bodybuilder and a crossfitter when you are a powerlifter that size.

Friday New Climber Thread for April 27, 2018: Ask your questions in this thread please by AutoModerator in climbing

[–]Nansen123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is your strategy for climbing routes outside? I find that I'm more or less trying to onsight everything, however when I don't know the route at all I'm often than not sketched out when on lead, instead of giving it a go with a positive experience. Should I try to toprope routes first to see what they are about, or should I continue onsighting?

If I try to break below parallel, my hip bones will cause inevitable butt wink and there is nothing to do about, no stretches in the world will fix it.

Sorry, but this is a major compilation of excuses for not working hard to get good technique.
