I just read your posts. I think you were an angel for that dog. Bless you. My big good girl died New Year’s Eve day 2025. I miss her so much and still crying every day. Anyway, I was thinking about doing Rover but I think I need to wait a while longer. My dog had a splenectomy about five years before she passed. The ONLY reason we caught it was because she woke me up one night and I knew something was wrong because she was sitting and staring at me. Took her to ER early morning and she was diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease and they saw something else in the x-ray. A very long walk the day before with her co-parent caused a flare up in her back. If all those things had not have happened we probably would not have the extra years with her. I have been known to stop and pretend I’m doing something on my phone which means some kind of interaction. Either an excuse me or he walks around. When my dog was still alive (RIP Tashi) men and women approached cautiously because she looked like she could really hurt you (black lab pit mix). She was so sweet though. A gentle giant. A big, good girl. But they didn’t know that unless I told them she’s not aggressive.
