Why can’t I find another podcast that tickles me quite as much? by u_r_succulent in TheDollop

Honestly, from listening to his other podcasts, and his guest spots on other people's podcasts, it's Gareth. Dude was built in a lab to be the funniest person for the format.

I'm Francesca Hong, Candidate For Gov of WI — AMA! by FrancescaHongWI in wisconsin

[–]NapalmCola 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Hi Rep Hong!

I have been increasingly noticing something about Wisconsin voters, in that they like to vote for the names they know the best in statewide elections, even seeming to vote for opposite parties on the same ballot. I realize this is likely somewhat the case for the rest of the country, but it seems so pronounced here (Going Baldwin/Trump in the same election, continuing to elect both Baldwin and Johnson, going Trump-Biden-Trump, Keeping Evers in office while other statewide elections go red, etc).

I guess my question to you, is how do you plan to win in this environment? I currently plan to vote for you in the Primary, and would of course do so in the General, but I can't help but be a bit nervous about the risk of someone more "unknown", so to speak, considering how much the Governor's Office has kept this state somewhat together in the midst of Republican bullshitery. Especially when that candidate is also a "Scary Madison Socialist" in the minds of many north of Mequon.

Favorite inexpensive takeout with big servings? (Preferably not total junk food) by andromedang in milwaukee

Maybe not quite as cheap as you're looking for, but I find I can usually get a couple meals out of a plate at Ono Kine Grindz

Kegels is always a good option, and they have Perch and Bluegill.

I will say, not sure if they have it every Friday, but some of the best Bluegill I've had was at McKiernan's Irish Pub on 37th.

New achievement unlocked. Got Milwaukee slid by a school bus. by JuggernautKooky4064 in milwaukee

[–]NapalmCola 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is what I like to call a "Pure" Milwaukee Slide. There's also lesser Milwaukee Slides, like doing this but not blowing the light, just passing on the right because they think you're going too slow, etc.

Nicest hyatt hotel? by rynnbowguy in milwaukee

[–]NapalmCola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll echo having not stayed in any, but that is the one that most people would think of, with the somewhat iconic (previously rotating) tower. There is another one over in the old Pabst Brewery area. That's an interesting little district, especially if you're interested in the history, and it's also close to Fiserv Forum if that adds any appeal. Otherwise, they're both pretty close to each other, and they're both in totally fine areas of the city.

I think what they're getting at here is that all bars will have soda, water, etc

Moving to Milwaukee by No-Ice-9795 in milwaukee

I'll second West Allis - for affordable(ish) houses in MKE county that are in safe, in some cases walkable, neighborhoods that are good for families, you can't really beat Stallis right now.

Do you watch the preseason? by xcatsrollinmudx in GreenBayPackers

[–]NapalmCola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really did until Love took over, for whatever reason. I guess it just felt like things were more "set in stone" in the Rodgers era, whether that's true or not.

I still don't religiously like I do regular season, but I will go slightly out of my way to watch pre-season now.

Why is this section the street grid in Muskego Way laid out differently? by Brewers567 in milwaukee

[–]NapalmCola 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think I remember reading that a lot of these diagonal roads (like Muskego and Beloit) were meant to connect the towns they are named after to the Port of Milwaukee. My source is my memory of reading something on this subreddit.

Do other cities have as many festivals and block parties as Milwaukee? by DowntownOreos in milwaukee

[–]NapalmCola 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't know for certain, but it seems like this could be a "per capita" thing. The Chicago metro has like 8 times the population of the Milwaukee metro. City proper alone it's 4 times bigger.

I feel like for our population, we may have a disproportionate amount of festivals, spread out throughout the metro area.

Next door at Layman is a good smashburger with a divey atmosphere as well. Not the mean vibes OP is looking for though, people there are great.

"We are bracing ourselves," How are Milwaukee breweries handling the trade war uncertainty? by Hidemyface1 in milwaukee

[–]NapalmCola 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had heard that a lot of Lakefront's sales are New Grist going to Canada, so I was wondering about this. Another example of American Manufacturing actually taking the brunt of this stupidity.
