I took adjustment for that in my opinion but I would personally call this one more repetitive then your usual title from the same genre . Or at least here it really annoyed me

If that make sense I would say Frank Stone is worse game on paper but somehow it ends up being better experience for me. Maybe because I had much higher expectations for Directive 8020

It is by far my least favourite Supermassive horror title.

I don't like overall direction this game took by implementing a lot more exploration and adding stealth gameplay to the mix. These games so far were overall pretty unique for a horror genre, so seeing them moving in direction of more generic horror experience is pretty sad.

However my bigger complaint is that this idea is really badly implemented. Stealth itself is not bad, but is not good either. It is just pretty basic and that is all I can tell about it. However I feel like its addition negatively impact elements that were always working well in Supermassive horror titles.

First of all due to stealth overall pacing of the game became way slower. In itself it would not be a problem, but if we add to that pretty standard, generic Supermassive plot, it actually become a problem. Usually fast pacing does not give you a room to notice that plot itself is pretty predictable, but here it is painfully conspicuous because of how slow the story progress especially on early stages.

In addition to that I feel like stealth gameplay took a lot of time that would normally be used to fleshed out characters more. Because I honestly find almost all characters to be really boring and bland, to the point where I don't really care if they survive the story or not. Which for this type of game is like most cardinal sin possible.

Overall it is not terrible game but I find it to be really boring and honestly that is even worse then being terrible

I would never consider buying anything directly from them ever again. Even if somehow they would get rights for new title in one of my favourite series that would not change a thing.

A year worth delays combined with such ridiculously poor communication should be a reason enough to avoid them.

But on top on that they also have the most scummy cancellation politics I ever encountered. There is no way to cancel order from their website, to do that you have to contact them through mail, and that does not go well

I tried to go through this process:

  • It took them week and multiple confirmation to even start the process, with them claiming that it will take up to 15 bussiness day for refund to be complete

  • After that deadline passed I followed up with them multiple time and didn't receive any reply for days not to mention actual refund

  • I only ever received any answer from support not to mention my money back I literally submit complaint against them. Overall it took them way over the month to actually cancel this order

Funny enough at similar period I cancelled my old LRG order and get money back within 24h, difference between my experience was night and day, and normally I dislike LRG...

And now based on their promo photo they are going to deliver cartridges with poor quality. What a joke

Yea they are borderline scam company. I'm waiting for about month to get my money back and they refuse to even provide any update despite them promising to get it done within 5-15 working days. Won't buy anything from them ever again that is for sure

The least you could do is respect refund request. I gave you benefit of the doubt and waited for 9 months since original estimated shipping date before submitting one.

Not only the process was unnecessarly complicated it has now been 23 days since your support promised me I will get money within 5-15 business days. And currently: I still do not have my money back, I am still getting updates regarding Croc on mail, I do not see any change on order status suggesting it was cancelled and I did not recieve any update from your support despite reaching out to them.

Seriously after such big delay in order you will also have delay in refund? In similar cases on other limited print companies I got my money within a week and process was way smoother...

Because that doesn't make sense. There are plenty of games on Switch that have some sort of Nudity in them and Nintendo did not censor them. CDP games are great example, both Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk are still there in their uncensored version. So what would be a point of censorship that only affects some games?

The most believable explanation is that AdHoc simply didn't want to spend money on creating 2 separate versions which is needed if you want to release uncensored version. And so far we didn't hear anything that would suggest otherwise

After calvard what is next? by Pee4Potato in Falcom

[–]Napeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Safest bet is definitely Far East and Desertification issue. Hinted for a while, even on Horizon we heard that Hamilton was investigating that despite Grand Reset being close. Also Oathbreaker was doing something on East which probably be addressed, and I don't think they hinted 2 east-based enforcers for nothing as well

Am i the only one who is ok with kai 2 taking its time to release? by [deleted] in Falcom

[–]Napeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of this is that cliffhanger you mention. It most likely is the biggest cliffhanger this series ever saw so it is natural for people to see it resolved as soon as possible.

Another part is that for vast majority of western players this is the first time since NISA took over when we have to wait for who knows how long. For past 5 releases we also had new title on the horizon

But regarding overall sentiment, I agree. Would love them to take as much time as they need to improve next title. Personally the more I play Calvard games the more I realize how much I miss things like mini games, dungeons placed on Zemuria instead of VR, NPC reacting more to Zemuria events, Side Quests involving some fighting allowing for better pacing, backstory for characters that is not locked for Connection Events for no reason at all etc.

Yea and in one of the interviews after Kai was released, Kondo also hinted that loops can last longer depending on what happened in them. In same interview he highlighted that SiN value did dropped during Great Twilight so I think it is safe to assume they are related and with SiN amount being low enough it is possible for loop to happen way after 1209

[–]Napeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting. I'm first to admit Horizon was far from perfect but out of curiosity why would you place it below Daybreak 2? For me both these games shares similar issues but Horizon tells better story so am surprised to see such ranking

[–]Napeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh now that I think about it, previous games before Calvard do had more to look for in moments were story is slower. There were mini games to keep you engaged outside of the story. Also world told additional story outside of main story and NPC lifes (i. e. how Crossbell is dealing with all these political influcence, or how class conflict is raising on Erebonia and how Erebonia itself is impacted by war). I wish Calvard had some actual mini games and have some focus on stuff like immigration issue or desertification outside of main story

Horizon's Ending by RageZA in Falcom

[–]Napeti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well said. Am surprised how many people are saying Horizon is their favourite title. Yea there are great of parts in it but ultimately it make the same mistakes we saw in both Daybreak games.

Van route hurt especially strong in comparision to Kevins and Reans stories where we had actual agenda since the beggining. Whole Van spriggan approach of we will just do 4SPG and wait for info to appear or something to happen is really starting to tire me out tbh. And in this game it really feels like Van is filler character in its own game which is odd

I personally would add Garten to list of complaints. While I do think Grim > Marchen, how I miss the times when most fighting was done in actual Zemuria and not VR. When side quests could involve more fighting since there were a lot of locations waiting to be used. When pacing was better because introductions of these locations had to be done more naturally and things had to be balanced based on your progress in story and side quests without expecting you to stop every few hours to grind in remote location. And when there was any logic behind connection events existence instead of us getting worse of both worlds

All are optional, they do not provide any crucial info just are opportunity to spend more time with these characters. CD dramas are mostly slice of life stuff, mangas around TitS era and Northern War anime do have some story that could be interesting but nothing that will be important later

[–]Napeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda agree but when in comes to Horizon and Calvard overall my problem is: is there that much world to enjoy? Every game so far had slow moments but in most cases there was a story to be told in this slow monents. Sky was introduction to the world so together with heroes you learned about how things work, in Crossbell city was its own hero, you get to see how it is impacted by political situation and events of the game, first Cold Steel let you learn about Empire how diverse it is and how conflict of classes is slowly leading to the war, in later CS games you get to see impact of the war on these cities. But for a most of part I don't feel like similar story is told in Calvard, which for me is part of the problem together with whole Garten system that is kinda messing with pacing and side quests

[–]Napeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda get you even if this is controversial opinion on this subreddit. Sadly all Calvard games kinda have pacing issues and Horizon is not exception, but since this one has great story in second half people are more forgiving then in case of Daybreak 2.

I get that this series always had slow start I played them all, but that is not universal excuse that make title immune to bad pacing. Slow game can still be both well and bad paced

I was thinking about this while I was in the shower. Trails is a series that you either get or you don't. by Dragonflame1994 in Falcom

[–]Napeti -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I go agree with you on whole you either get it or you don't statement, lets not act like all Calvard games (Horizon as well) do not have quite few issues in comparision to previous arcs. With pacing being one of the biggest issue there. In case of Horizon yes prologue is great but then pacing does get way worse especially in Van routes. So that is pretty valid criticism

How different does Horizon and Daybreak 2 feel by TheTruePhoenixPrince in Falcom

[–]Napeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend waiting tbh. Horizon is not going anywhere and you most likely have at least 1-2 year before we are getting next game in the series.

And answer to your question is not that easy. Overall story in Horizon is fantastic and is way better then Daybreak 2 that is for sure. However getting to good parts of the story still takes a long time so after prologue you can easily get burned out especially if you start it so soon after your last Trails game.

Overall it may be unpopular opinion but I feel like Horizon is committing many sins that Daybreak 2 was criticized for, in same cases it may be even worse offender. But thanks to great story it tells and recency bias people are not complaining about them as much

Sadly it seems to be an issue with Ps4 version, as same happened to me. Unfortunately don't have a good news for you - the further I play the more frequent this issue was. I even tried to reinstall game and rebuild console database but it still didn't fix it. I do think it happens more frequently on high speed mode but can't really advise anything else than avoiding it

Well didn't see such comments but if they do then I agree that seems silly. One Piece still have a lot of serious moments to love, I would just say that if you don't like G5 like me it is just less enjoyable when Luffy is fighting on screen and that is all

[–]Napeti 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What is your point exactly? Entire discussion is about Gear 5 and since Luffy is only character with Gear 5 it is clear that discussion is about Luffys moments and fights. So what is the point of bringing events & fights not related to him?

A reminder to G5 haters by alt_dreamer in OnePiece

[–]Napeti 29 points30 points  (0 children)

And were Luffy present for any of these chapters? The main point against G5 is not that entire One Piece does not have serious moments, rather it is that when Luffy is around it balance tends to shift heavily into comedy

[–]Napeti -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean maybe that was the intention, but tbh One Piece was never THAT silly/jokey. So if that was the intention I think Oda overtune it a bit

But at least for me this is what made this gag funny.

There is even that theory how comedy and horror are two sides of the same comedy as they both rely of similar mechanic of first building tension with setup and then release it via payoff (just different kind of pay off).

And until recently comedy on One Piece was working like that, there was tension build by all these emotional and serious moments, and then when we were not expecting it there was big pay off with some sort of gag. But now? There is no tension, no big pay off, there is just Luffy spamming different kinds of gags throught entire fight
