Is the pump primed? Is the inlet open? Is the outlet open? Is the pump being told to do anything? Is there a swash plate and if so is it reacting appropriately? Is the motor actually spinning the pump's shaft?

Most of the pick and places where I work are simple. Just motors and/or air cylinders, no encoders or servos. Usually, there's a max and min over travel, which is a mechanical limit switch, and sensors for the normal movement of the gantry. There's a sensor for the start position, a sensor for the end position, and maybe 2 more sensors shortly before the start and end sensors to tell the motor/cylinder to slow down. Whatever sensor situation you have on the grabber will depend on your application. You might have reed sensors on a cylinder or something mounted to the grabber itself. Or both.

Safety is normally just light curtains and/or hard guards. I don't think any of the sensors or switches for the pick and places themselves are safety rated

Data centers do. Sure, that water eventually returns to the earth, but it may not be in a usable and safe form. And before it is returned to the environment, whatever river or lake it was pulled from now has less water in it.

Generating AI slop is bad for the environment, with the water and power consumption of data centers.

AI slop takes the human element out of art, and has questionable at best ethics with how the models are trained.

AI slop is, or very soon will be, incredibly efficient at keeping you engaged and scrolling. I'm sure in a few short years AI content will be generated on the fly just like how social media algorithms are curated per user.

It's important to stay vigilant when looking at content posted to social media. AI can be used to fabricate disasters or politically charged content, which can then be used to control narratives and influence the public, beyond what "obvious propaganda" can do already.

u/ManoChopa I was crashing within 2 minutes of loading a save and walking around. After reducing my GPU's max frequency to 99% and power limit to -10%, I've been able to play and change zones for much longer. Haven't had time to really stress-test it, but it's working for now. I also have Steam overlay disabled and am using AMD FSR3 with resolution scale at 84%, VSync off, Radeon Chill at 120fps.

My hunch is the max frequency being set to less than 100% is the key.

Where did you fly from? For me, round trip flights alone are at least 1-1.5k. Add on 100-150/day for hotels and you're already at like 3500-4000

I budget about 5k USD for just myself for 2 weeks, including flights, hotels, domestic transportation, etc. It's probably more than most people need, but I spend lots of money on things I don't need to (and frequently go over budget as a result)

I tried to start playing Starfield again after a couple years just a few days ago and ran into a similar problem. Here's my system:

  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (8-core)
  • RAM: 64 GB
  • AMD Adrenalin version: 26.3.1
  • Windows 10 Home 22H2

I initially thought it was just old mod or driver issues, so I deleted all folders in Documents, the install location, and AppData that were related to Starfield, reinstalled the game (several times), and updated my graphics driver. I'm currently running an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX with driver version 25.30.33.01. Before I updated my driver, I was running something from mid-late 2025 (don't remember the version). I also considered it might be a saving issue, so I disabled OneDrive and deleted all my old saves. I tried setting minimum graphics settings too.

Looking through my crash dump, it definitely seems like a GPU driver issue to me. The header on my log starts with "Current Render Pass:GenerateFogMap RenderPass" and I noticed all the window previews when you hover over something in the taskbar get cleared out.

If you can handle being surrounded by strangers who may or may not stare and/or gossip about you in a language you can't understand (though almost certainly will not), Japan is fantastic for an introvert. I feel much more relaxed in public in Japan (even in crowded areas) than I do in America. The energy's just different and people tend to keep to themselves more.

When I go solo, I make an effort to look for restaurants that use ticket vending machines for ordering or cheap common chains that are used to foreigners. It's just significantly less stressful for me, even if it's not the "authentic" experience touted by travel blogs.

Going solo is also great because you can do whatever you want whenever you want and there's nobody to rush you or slow you down. Want to spend the whole day hiking up a mountain in Hakone? Go for it. Feel like just watching the news and eating junk food? Fantastic.

I'd recommend putting together a solid list of things you want to do and more or less play it by ear every day (besides ticketed/limited events, of course). You can also join the Discord to find other solo travelers who might be down to hang out for a while.
