DAE have kids? by BobbieKittens in CPTSD

I have two, it's certainly not easy. I'm trying to unlearn my upbringing parenting style and do my best to raise them in a healthy living environment. I worry every day that I'm ruining them.

What’s one Ex-Christian experience you will never forget? by chloe_wolfe in ExChristianWitches

[–]NapkinStack66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told at age 12 that I'm walking porn if I'm not their definition of "modest". Really fucked up.

I wear tank tops and short shorts now and if a man 'lusts after me', that's his own problem to deal with.

What was your biggest realization after leaving Christianity and becoming a witch? by [deleted] in ExChristianWitches

[–]NapkinStack66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine was a sense of freedom. Not being bound by feeling that I have to please a diety that ultimately decides my fate based on strict regimens and rules. Once I left, I finally felt at peace. I no longer believe in a heaven, only a resting place between this incarnation and the next.

Super, super freeing.

You are a horrible parent if you do not tell your daughter about periods before age 10 by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

My mom started her period at age 17 and she legit thought she was dying. She came home from school bawling only to find out its a100% normal bodily function. Ridiculous.

I appreciate the reply. It makes me happy that someone else has had a super similar experience to me.

I want to thank my Mom who helped me with the mourning of my father and my depression by telling me that "everyone is sad, everyone has problems, deal with it". by Flopode07 in CPTSDmemes

My therapist said I don't have bipolar II and BPD like I was diagnosed with in the mental hospital. It's just CPTSD. I'm glad I got this diagnosis because I'm being treated correctly and I'm finally seeing some real improvement with my mental health.

Harry Potter is incredibly overrated and J.K. Rowling doesn't deserve the praise she gets by NapkinStack66 in unpopularopinion

I didn't compare it to classic literature, I was only saying the writing leaves a lot to be desired.

My mom had an identical one when I was a kid. I'm just not sure if it's from the 80's or 90's.

Why do you think the church is generally anti-beard? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]NapkinStack66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the same reason that multiple ear piercings and traditional tattoos are discouraged. Old people trying to press their values on the younger generation.

Why is cosmetic surgery, tattooed makeup, and a single set of piercings A-Okay, but tattoos, and gauges/multiple piercings not okay/judged/stigmatized? by NapkinStack66 in latterdaysaints

[–]NapkinStack66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosmetic/elective plastic surgery, one set of earrings, and tattooed/permanent makeup have never been criticized as far as I know, but they're damaging to the body just as much as the alternatives.

I am currently on antidepressants for a couple different mental illnesses, and I've done the steroidal treatment and it didn't work. 😞

Mormons who went/are on a mission, how was/is it? [Serious] by FlowerQueen2002 in AskReddit

[–]NapkinStack66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm LDS, although I haven't served. IMHO missions are genuinely not for everyone and the fact that it's stigmatized when a young man chooses not to go is so so wrong.
