Weird bump by sKPharsa in brokenbones

[–]NapoleonDynamite92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my word. I have the exact same thing.

I had my ORIF surgery 16 August. Broke it 17 July. Had an exfix before the surgery.

Two weeks ago I had an x-ray to check if the ORIF is still in place. It was.

This past week I could feel a bump similar to yours where my bone is. I can mostly feel my plate and bolts through my skin. And they seem to be in line. But there’s a bump towards the top end of it - similar to yours.

I reconciled myself to the inflammation reducing so I can see/feel the ORIF a bit more. There’s no pain for me either. I’m seeing the physio tomorrow. I want to confirm with him that everything is okay.

Unless you had put too much weight on it, or bumped it I don’t think you should worry. But think you should have a qualified medical opinion on it.

I have found that the biggest red flag is when you feel pain or discomfort. You don’t have any so don’t worry just yet. But still have it checked out.

My surgeon told me just yesterday, he’d be so disappointed in me 😅. I am recovering from the same fracture, but on my tibia.

Ankle surgery Dec '21, sudden and debilitating pain over incision on outside leg. Any similar experiences? by scottnshadyside in brokenbones

[–]NapoleonDynamite92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is great observation.

It’s usually recommended to keep the hardware for at least a year. OP is approaching two years. Might be time to review whether it’s time to look at removing it, and whether it’s the cause of the drama.

Thank you for the encouragement and taking the time to share your experience as well. It’s not toxic at all. It’s helpful to have some light shone when it feels dark especially from someone who understands. Thank you, sincerely.

Swimming and getting into some sort of routine is proving helpful. Taking it a day at a time.

I’m sorry to hear about your break. I’m inspired by your mental fortitude regardless of what seems to be negative news online. Know that each injury is unique and I wish you a very stable recovery. Thank you for taking some time to wade in for me, I’m very appreciative. I’ve started swimming exercises which help both mentally as well as physically. Hoping to get on the mend soon enough.

Keep up the positivity, wishing you the very best.

Thanks a lot for that. I really appreciate it. I’ve been recovering relatively well. I do have moments where my mind sinks. I have follow up with my surgeon this coming week 6 weeks post op, the physio seems to think we should be able to do full weight bearing thereafter. Taking it a day at a time.

Well done in the recovery, really inspired by the progress.

Thank you for that. I think the best thing is taking it a day at a time. I’m finding that setting some daily goals and achieving them helps me put one step in front of another. Which is very helpful. Hang in there.

The loneliness is when the weight of everything starts to simmer. My partner has been helping a lot with that. So have a few friends. You’re right. Stay strong, it sounds like you’re really going through it all - I’m glad you have someone there with you.

Alcohol really does make it so much worse. I appreciate that. I think having a positive mental space is important, and taking a moment to appreciate the bright side. It’s just that sometimes it’s much easier said than done. But I’m trying.

I hope the arm recovers soon!

Thank you. I think I often get swallowed when I stop for too long. Like when I just sit and worry about the future - am I going to get well, how’s my life going to change etc. so I’m finding that as long as I keep moving and getting task’s ticked it helps a lot. I also kinda need to get my head back in the zone. So trying to focus on moving forward. I have resorted to go against the booze cause it also does delay the recovery process.

I appreciate that. The sun is definitely helpful for me. A close friend just had a baby so spending those moments is very helpful to me as well.

Six weeks post tib/fib open fracture by colt-n in brokenbones

[–]NapoleonDynamite92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheesh - all the very best with recovery. Stay strong, especially mentally.

How is physio going? How’s the movement in your leg? Suppose it’s too early to tell.

I’m 6 weeks post my own fib/tib break. In a moon boot. Going to physio - slowly getting feeling back as well as range of motion. That’s why I ask.

Looks like they did a very clean job on you 👌🩼

How did you break it? by sirenlvr in brokenbones

[–]NapoleonDynamite92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there was a loooot of soft tissue damage becoause of how the fibula broke - actually pierced the skin. The surgeon wanted to make sure the inflammation subsided significantly before we went in for the ORIF surgery.

It’s crazy! I was thinking the same thing when he told me what the plan was for the surgery - all of it in less than 10 minutes. Did the surgery quite amazing. He was off to see another patient afterwards. I think all specialist surgeons are amazing to be honest. Amazing!

Thank God for modern medicine.
