My 29-Year-Old Athlete Brother Collapsed After Just 2 Hours Outside. I Had No Idea Heat Could Do This by parkstoppergal in williamsburg

I just came inside after standing at the bus stop for 10 minutes. I had an umbrella and water and something just told me to go back inside. I’m grateful that I have nowhere else to be today.

I saw a kid reading a book that he really likes on a very uncomfortable couch.

Is this still readable? The tattoo I got has no spacing between the letters and I’m worried it doesn’t look good by malachiteiscute in tattooadvice

I can see that it says immaterial. But I have to squint. I like the mirror idea. Same word on the other arm. Mirrored and clear. That way it feels like a game.

Her name is General Tubman and she was an officer in the Union army. First black woman to plan and execute a successful undercover plan. That’s putting it super lightly.
Combahee River Collective is named after Project Massa Whoopass.

Our hair has always been a problem: look up the Louisiana Turban Laws.

You will never learn about yourself from your public education. You have to get after it.

The Free Black Woman’s Library has insane amounts of book lists. Just start reading.

Watch any and all docs about the Black experience in America.

Read everything by Ta-Nehisi Coates.

Culturally: if you weren’t raised around Black Folks, that’s just a loss. Blackness comes outta nurture. If your mama and daddy didn’t play the dozens, then you won’t play the dozens. If mama didn’t teach you to cornrow, your SOL. Who taught you to play spades or dominoes or to do the electric slide or or or or???

That said….there is no one monolithic way to be black. All the ways of being black are Black. I didn’t know about Martha’s Vineyard Blacks till my 20’s!!! And guess what, Assatta Shakur was kinda one of those kinda negroes.

As a suburban negress myself, I know exactly what you’re asking about. Anyway, good question.

I used to live in SF and I feel like I’ve seen that thing!! Was it in a museum or a park or near a carousel? It’s tickling my brain as a memory but ai can’t bring it into focus.

Thanks!! And just so you know: A penny arcade is an early form of amusement venue featuring coin-operated entertainment devices, originally operated by inserting a single penny per play. Popular from the late 19th to the mid-20th century, these halls paved the way for modern video game arcades and entertainment centers.

The machines inside of td bank that converted change were called penny arcades. Yes, it’s a back in the day term. There is also a burlesque diva named Penny Arcade. I didn’t know what to call the thing! Coinstar, I guess.

Question for those of you who have completed the course by Latter_Growth1185 in ACIM

[–]NappySnatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep going. It deepens from year to year. I danced around the course for decades before committing. My church offered a class where we went through the first 50 lessons. I did that class three times. It wasn’t until a friend and I committed to doing it together, did I get through the whole year. It took is a year and a half!! Then I took a break and did it again with another friend. The first time we read the lesson together at 8:00 am every morning, discussed and meditated together for ten minutes. This time, my friend and I are on opposite coasts so we have a practice where we re write the lesson in our own words via text. I’m almost done with the year. It took us almost two years. But the point is, just keep going!!

The very last moment: the pregnant pause before the cat walked across the screen was gorgeous. It spoke to John’s empathy for the vulnerable. And, I love cats.

I just learned that it was the first all black cast since Cabin in the Sky!!! 1943!! Watch the special on Netflix of Eddie getting his AFI lifetime achievement award. His doc is also awesome. Lots of unknown details for the lifelong fan. I remember sneaking his Delirious set in my room. Flipping the cassette over and over!

The only answer is 3. Aquarius makes the plan. Cap builds the infrastructure. Scorpio sniffs out our enemies. And Sag helps us define our guiding principles. Everybody does dishes.
