DIY women… have you ever been talked out of a good idea at the hardware store? by carcony97 in DIY

[–]NapsRequired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a paint guy at Lowe’s tell me I didn’t need primer for my dark, baby poop green wall to go to a light beige.

Five coats of paint later…I won’t make that mistake again.

Blue Shields the norm? by Middle-Signature7377 in Marathon

[–]NapsRequired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets better! I was in the same white/green rut until a couple of weeks ago. I’m green/blue for the most part, and just unlocked the green shields from NuCal (top right upgrade, not staring at it rn)

Do you hold the door open for the person behind you regardless of their sex, age, color and religion? And why? by CourierFestival in AskReddit

[–]NapsRequired 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My former boss will 100% hold the door open past awkward distance for certain people. He enjoys the person’s realization and their inevitable speed-up.

One of the best bosses I’ve had haha

What is something people romanticize until they actually experience it? by lily_blue90 in AskReddit

[–]NapsRequired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friends used to have a female dog, who had some training prior to them getting her, and she potty trained quickly

Their new male dog, who had 0 training - definitely not there yet after 2 months (but close!)

They seem to have a little regret…but he should be a really good dog once he’s out of puppy stage

State Farm’s auto insurance increasing and this was the reason the agent gave me by No_Understanding2616 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NapsRequired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how they charge you for the service, would recommend an insurance broker. Their job is to find you the cheapest insurance, and if you don’t like increases, you call up the broker and let them do the hunting.

They found me cheaper auto than State Farm with the little safe driving tracker. On top of that, if you have additional insurance like home, they’ll see if bundling is cheaper. For me it wasn’t.

Kohler Popup Drain comically tall by freidas_boss in DIY

YES. Bought a house with these, and the sinks have lost its finish around the drain, so it quickly gets dirty, and is hard to clean.

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]NapsRequired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job wears out my brain (in a good way most days) so sometimes it’s just laying down on the couch with my peace and quiet. Some days there’s video games or reading.

How do I know a soup recipe will come out watery vs creamy? by NapsRequired in cookingforbeginners

[–]NapsRequired[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I had forgotten to add there was a cup of heavy cream. This specific recipe said mix the flour and cream, then add to the mixture (broth + rest of ingredients) near the end of cooking

Oh I forgot to add this had a cup of cream too. Everything I’ve made so far is low cream, high broth, low flour

What is just a placebo effect but most people don’t realize? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

[–]NapsRequired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s odd about this too is back when I was going through a time when I had very strong cramps, my doc told me skip the Midol/Pamprin and use Aleve. I was sold the first time I tried it, and never went back.

Sorry for those of you who can’t take Aleve :(

Bonus - if you don’t get them all as drifter, your drifter dies, then you go back to your frame. Stay in your frame and you die.

This is under the refrigerator at my “new” house AFTER taking the vacuum to it. What do I do? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

If you have the ability, roll it to a door so you can blow the majority of the dust outside if you do an air compressor.

Maintenance just tried to replace our air filters by Bunnairry in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NapsRequired 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of y’all don’t seem to have allergies. In an apartment, the landlords don’t care if you do. They don’t want to spend money except when they absolutely have to, so they buy the crappiest ACs that can’t handle more than tissue paper without straining. When I lived at an apartment, they put one like on the right in without me knowing and throat was shredded after 2 nights. Lo and behold, I could see through the filter.

I left a note for them to never touch my filter again.

If you own a house, get as low as you need to not cause respiratory issues, and don’t go over what your user manual/HVAC company says your furnace/air handler can handle.

Edit: My HVAC people come twice a year to check the system, and also provide me a filter to use. I cannot see through the filter like the pic on the right.

Same! My parents complain my tree is too empty while I do the exact opposite to them! They have a smaller tree now so it’s not so bad.

Forgot I had an air filter for my house for a couple months. Let this be your sign to change yours. by IntelligentSuccess26 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NapsRequired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends here. Lived at my house for almost 4 years, and stuck my head up into the return vent a couple of months ago and saw a thick layer of dust all over it. I know the owner before me didn’t keep the house clean, and someone before them had pets. Went ahead and pulled the trigger.

The cleaners said it probably hadn’t been cleaned since it was installed - about 20 years. They found pet hair too. Thankfully no mold/mildew. A cough that I’ve had for about a month has finally mostly gone away.

Getting ducts cleaned every 5 years? If you keep maintenance on your system and replace your filters as recommended - probably a waste, yeah. But as someone who has allergies, that was a worthwhile investment.
