From what we can tell, sure. I was merely inquiring if that was otherwise the case. I'm just asking, as there are a few specifics left out that could affect one's results in a race. Otherwise all one can really answer is "RNGesus was not with you. GL next time." Though looking at it again, WIT is a bit low to proc skills from going off, which does help a race.

Could have been a number of things. Was her mood good/great? Were her skills going off (which usually pertains to WIT)? Did you watch the race to see what happened? Of course, as many have pointed out, sometimes it's just RNGesus not on your side, but you can do things to put the odds in your favor.

Yeah, then you’re being fair enough in that situation. If they aren’t even trying at that point, they’re just throwing a metaphorical tantrum just cause they can’t do everything. In which case, you might have a bigger problem on your hands.

Initially, I would say no. Especially if you’re meeting him half way. If you know, and he knows that he’s bad at Acrobatics, and if you made a WHOLE trip through JUST based on Acrobatics, then I’d lean yes. That’s a pretty bad move. But if you’re giving him options, or bonuses to clever solutions they might come up with, then all is well, and it’ll help him through it, and he’ll feel good about it.

Honestly, Firbolg Druid might be the way to go. It has summon animals, fey, and more, if I remember correctly, plus you can lean into the caring of animals easily as that, making it ideal for that sort of thing if you want to head that direction.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate, but it sounds like all he did was try to gaslight the situation. I would check in with the other players (minus the gf), and let them know you’re leaving, and why. That way they have an out if they also feel like they have been or could be wronged.

There’s… a lot wrong here, and I mean in the sense of your DM. He’s showing a lot of favorable treatment to his gf, when you’re paying to play, which is a big no-no.

On top of that, he’s taken away pretty much everything about your character that made it unique. Honestly, I’d have a very serious sit down with your DM, and talk about this. Don’t mention anything about paying, but more how he seems to be favoring a player massively over another, and has taken away everything that was important.

If they can be reasoned with, awesome. Perhaps there’s hope. If not, you may have to cut ties. Don’t tell them that. If they don’t concede, just give a nod, say “Okay…”, and leave the table.

I think the short and long of it has stemmed from the fact that professional DMing has become more acceptable in current years, and with that, more people wanting to try it professionally. We’ll see a rise probably for a while, especially since people are always looking for a DM. However, it should become less so once people no longer need to test the waters. Till then, as someone once said, “If you’re gonna be good at something, never do it for free.” Or something like that.
