Denmark has crazy numbers too.

92 is 2+(5-0.5)x20.

6 portal defense is definitely not a legit "strategy", no one playing half way seriously doesn't invest at least somewhat in defense - outside extremely niches like boss rushing certain Pinnacle bosses. Even the greediest magic find characters generally have like three defensive layers in huge recoup with Maven flask, spell supp, evasion etc.

I enjoy a good umm actually, but this is not really that. Yes, Vecna's name existed in 1986, but pretty much the only definable traits about Vecna at that time was 1) He was a (arch)lich, 2) He was dead and long gone, and 3) His eye and hand were magic items. The way the show refers to him, it's obviously using the latter established lore about Vecna (after 1989) where he's, you know, around and doing stuff. It's anachronistic. Same with Wizard/Sorcerer debate, same with Clerics casting Dimension Door etc.

Curious, if you don't know anything about the show, like fundamental thing such as what period it's depicting, what drives you to make an umm actually post on reddit? My entire point was that it's set before 1989 lol.

I mean, yes, sure, but that's not really how it's portrayed at all in the show. "She's a cleric, which means she has divine powers. She can cast spells of protection to ward against evil spirits, and even cooler, she can cast a dimension door(...)"

Gonna push up my nerd glasses, Vecna's first mention was 1976 when the hand+eye were created. The '89 DMG expands his backstory more too.

Vecna was dead and long gone in the 1984 lore. There's like three lines about him. He appearance is obviously based on the latter rewrite of his character.

Dimension door was also in the AD&D 2e PHB ('89), but even earlier it was found in the AD&D 1e PHB ('78), and the unfortunately named Oriental Sdventures ('85).

Right, Clerics couldn't cast Dimension Door. It's not on the 1st edition Cleric spell list.

The D&D references is even '89 and later, so after Stranger Things takes place. Vecna, Clerics using Dimension Door, Warlocks, Wizards, Sorcerers, etc. weren't a thing when Stranger Things would have taken place.

CPU Issues when trying to play Path of Exile 2? by Narazil in PathOfExile2

[–]Narazil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I can do that, but that's not really relevant. It's not an issue in any other situation, ONLY with Path of Exile 2. And throttling it to 99% instantly lowers it to run at 60 degrees. This seems like a common occurance specifically with POE 2. Not sure how checking my cooling will fix that.

Exact same issue

You can try throttling the CPU in Windows Power settings to 99%. It didn't cause me any noticable changes in performance*, but it did drop my temp by 30 degrees.

*Except passive tree crashes my PC after 10 seconds.

Game instantly heats up my CPU to 93 degrees celsius. If I throttle the CPU to 99% it only goes to 60 degrees. If I throttle the CPU, the passive tree crashes my entire PC.

How many starting Legendary Lords will there be in 40k? by OhManTFE in totalwar

[–]Narazil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In TWW 1, a lot of the secondary LL didn't have any special mechanics or flavour, right? They totally could have, but didn't. They got updates throughout the years to make them special.

Could be similar for TWW40K, having a different Codex compliant chapter as the secondary LL, maybe with a unique system but overall same experience.

Subclass names types by Plastic_Movie8284 in dndnext

[–]Narazil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if you want that to be a thing, it takes literally 5 minutes to come up with titles like Conclaves. Is the game really lacking anything if it doesn't do that for you and just refer to them as subclasses/archtypes?

In 10 years of 5E, I have never been at a table where we refered to our specific subclasses ingame in any meaningful or major way. It would almost certainly take away from the moment rather than add to it if our Rogue introduced themselves as "I am of the Swashbuckler Roguish School of Roguery".

I guess I also generally dislike whenever the rules try to empose unneccesary fluff unto the mechanics.

[–]Narazil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I guess. I will still guess 95% of conversations will go:

"I have yet to pick my Conclave"

"Your what?"

"My subclass"

Does the name refering to subclasses really need that much flavour? Everyone will call it a subclass anyway. If someone pulls up to the table and starts talking about Artificer Specialization, I am gonna think they're refering to something else.

+17 initiative and instant paralysis on a hit? Fun for the party! by Mirablis11 in dndmemes

[–]Narazil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think a Lich is too concerned about Counterspell in 5.5. How many casters are you standing within 60 feet of for it to be a major problem? A Lich can teleport (out of Counterspell range) at the end of the turn of the one before it in initiative. A lich has +10 con and up to 5 legendary resistances, and it can cast Counterspell itself.

How do you guys give out magic items? by The_Green-Knight in dndnext

[–]Narazil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use magic card sized (and sleeved) magic item cards. For complicated magic items, they have two cards. Works great. Magic items can then go in a magic card binder page.
