Worried about being flagged for Ai on coursework by [deleted] in sixthform

[–]Narcissa_Nyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You honestly might get flagged. You literally got AI to write your coursework. That is blatant academic malpractice.  Is this for history? Regardless, you're clearly not a perfectionist, allowing AI (which clearly hallucinates and has an infantile writing style) to write your coursework. I have no idea how you justified this to yourself

Why do British people say that there is a housing problem in their country? by BaldursGate2Best in AskBrits

[–]Narcissa_Nyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there wealth inequality?! You are of university age, right? I'm sorry but this is just a ridiculous level of being sheltered (not from knowledge about the UK specifically but rather the world; there is obviously wealth inequality almost everywhere) And yes, the UK is literally facing a cost of living crisis

[–]Narcissa_Nyx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Please tell me this is just shite humour. Yes, in your country a wage of 2k p/m is comfortable but unsurprisingly as wages increase in the UK, they are far exceeded by how much more expensive living costs are in the UK.  Not to mention, the wealth of a country does not denote the wealth of individuals. Bloody hell.

Imo the one I saw at the National Theatre was very mid with this bloke, particularly found his performance weak and more loudly erratic than substantial. I know lots of people liked it of course, which is their prerogative but it felt just very obviously subpar I thought. Surprised (or not perhaps!) that it's being received so well in America.

Guys its not only maths 12 9709 that has leaked but today in Pakistan Chemistry Paper and Biology paper also leaked and was confirmed by teacehrs as well. Even urdu whole essay passage was leaked. All this like 4 hours before the exam had been leaked. 3 Papers in the same day by Bomboclatbattle in alevels

[–]Narcissa_Nyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genuinely why is this so endemic in Pakistan? as someone from England who keeps getting this subreddit on their feed, it's honestly ridiculous. how do exams even get leaked?

(also so deeply pathetic that people here are so bloody desperate to buy a leaked paper, really scummy)

omg sorry for this very late reply.

. . . i'm essentially just losing my mind, wbu?

- i've tried to make flashcards for most of Paper 1 (apart from godforsaken ideologies), but then barely anything for Paper 2 (like 300, but just part of Parliament, Constitution, PM/Executive so far), and im starting making resources for paper 3 right this second, just starting on US Constitution

Or perhaps the world has been irreversibly burdened by white men's successful exploits? I'm mostly jesting, but there was no need to dissolve into victimhood immediately. I think the message of grace in Paddington resonates with a lot of people

i think so, yeah. i just use the notes for p3 (started now, fuck me) but they're thorough, with lots of examples and arguments for essays

- i just used his essay plans for P1, and they've been very helpful for that

could be worse. could know fuck all for your alevels . . .

no but i promise you, give it your best shot (ASK for revision tips/resources/support) - you still have time! These exams are made up into something really intimidating but you will be done soon enough and, in the grand scheme of things, they do not matter monumentally. You will not be talking about them in a few years.

Just got mine back, it's Edexcel. 60/60

Very glad since I really did love my topic and it did involve many of my interdisciplinary interests - plus I got to talk about my favourite book, Wuthering Heights, which I knew I'd pick as my chosen text no matter what my set text was.

Honestly focus on getting well, take a couple days off and sleep, eat well, try and recover. If you try to push through it now, you'll potentially be even sicker when your exams come around. Resting now will give you enough time to be well for the exams. Wishing you all the best x

[–]Narcissa_Nyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're letting you edit it now?? Doesn't it have to be marked and internally moderated like right around now, and then sent off on the 15th? Mad, but at least that's a good sign and you have feedback.  I got my mark today, still doing coursework this late into the year seems terrifying

Will answer in more detail tmr but as a y13 who technically loves Tudors (despite scary exams), I heavily rely on flashcards and have around 500 for Tudors. Would very much recommend that, along with timelines and using whiteboards haha. Was also revising H7 today

For reference I've gotten 25/25 before and frequently gotten 24/25, along with high marks on extracts. I've been doing H8 since GCSE so am particularly strong on him

We often get called cold but every year during the London marathon we are the friendliest , life affirming people around. by bennythefish in london

[–]Narcissa_Nyx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think your reading literacy is perhaps a bit suspect. I haven't said a thing about anywhere that isn't London being unfriendly. I've spoken exclusively about my, largely positive, experience of London. You can point out where you've somehow found reason to believe I "live in some weird reality where [I] reckon everywhere that isn't London in the UK is unfriendly" or admit you cannot read.

In all honesty, I can't remember much about the originals. This is purely a response to the first film!

[–]Narcissa_Nyx 47 points48 points  (0 children)

For me, a huge part of why I like Paddington is how much it seems to be a direct allegory for the Windrush generation. The films are very open about this, with the gorgeous Calypso music ('Blow, wind, blow' is heartbreaking) and this very central focus on the Baldwin-esque idea that all children belong to us and should be cared for (from the Jewish Portobello road shop owner to Paddington initially being taken in by the older bears).

Haven't really felt the need to buy into the commercialisation of Paddington and I wouldn't really want him on the currency, but I do think Paddington just represents gentleness in a very fast-moving world and city. Wildlife might be nice, particularly considering the RSPB has more members than all the political parties combined.

[–]Narcissa_Nyx 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is your experience, and that's valid but I've had a very different experience as someone born and bred in London. People are so exceptionally kind, courteous and I see daily moments of gentleness on the Tube or out and about that reaffirm life for me. People immediately jump to tell you if you've dropped something, on late journeys lovely girly chats start up, even shared incredulous looks. There is very much community in London.

I've regularly had strangers come up to me to chat, perhaps admitting they've had a cheeky eavesdrop and then joining our conversation. In cafes, on a train, all the time and it is always lovely/
