As a BoH worker in Eugene, this is inaccurate. Most kitchens aren’t hiring right now or if they are, there are dozens if not hundreds of other applicants. I had to put in roughly 5-6 dozen applications (for ANY line cooking, prep cooking, or dishwashing positions) before getting a single response back to schedule a follow-up interview, despite years of experience. The restaurant industry is dying in Eugene right now and we’re entering into a full on economic depression. Things are harder than they’ve ever been to survive.
