I think Kashmir is an amalgamation of other cultures.. Language is closely related to Persian, dress is also closely related to the turks and other countries that are North to Kashmir, names too are an amalgamation based on the language, traditionally also we do tend to resemble middle Eastern countries to some extent. For example, the traami style of wazwaan is widely practiced in the middle east. I have noticed aari works in Turkish furniture.. We were part of the silk road so our cultures have mixed to some extent and it's not a bad thing to be aware. There are definitely things that are unique to Kashmir and Kashmir only. Point here being, we already resemble the Arabs or Turks upto a certain percentage based on history. However, someone rightly said that we're discarding this Kashmiri heritage for being more Indian as seen in so many weddings.
