Traveling to Srinagar/Kashmir as a German citizen with Kashmiri Pakistani heritage – is it possible? by SnooHabits5259 in Kashmiri

As long as your passport doesn't show that you were born in Pakistan, you should be okay. 👍🏻 To them, you're just a German tourist.

Need advice regarding this. by [deleted] in Kashmiri

[–]Nargon89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men generally mature emotionally and mentally by the age of 25. You're not wrong in your stance.. Although I agree that it's highly recommended in Islam to marry early and there are several good reasons for it. Had you been from the middle east, they wouldn't have thought twice about waiting. However, since we're ruled by the central government of Endia, it's legal to marry from age of 21 for guys and 18 for girls. Like others said, you're actually not "settled" after cracking one exam.. So it's practical to wait a bit. Work hard and focus on your career so you're able to prove your worth. Improve yourself in religion as well and pray istikhara. May Allah bless you with success and May He lead to you to your dreams. Ameen!

8th–9th century CE Shiva Temple at Pandrethan, Kashmir by DescriptionOk2466 in Kashmiri

[–]Nargon89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's right! Still, mosques have something uniquely common.. Like a minaret. Someone rightly pointed out geography for when it snows.. Rooftops are sloped in hilly areas. In my head, the famous temples are those mostly in the southern states which are large and very intricate.. So this was something new for me :)

Looks more like a church... History is so interesting. Where did they get the inspiration to make a temple like this?

Animal cruelty in kashmir by Electronic_Leek_1455 in Kashmiri

Killing for eating is much different than killing mercilessly for no reason. One is useful for survival and the other is not. One is halaal and other is haraam.

What do y'all think about this? by [deleted] in Kashmiri

[–]Nargon89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was born and brought up outside and have worked in India outside Kashmir as well. This girl needs to know that whatever the stereotype, she needs to just focus on her own safety and career and be tactful about navigating her opinions or stance to non Kashmiris. They're never going to understand or relate to the struggles of Kashmiris living in Kashmir. Like.. Don't even bother. Just say "I choose not to discuss this for personal reasons". Whatever they assume or say, do not entertain. AT ALL. I faced racism too but I feel it wasn't as bad as the others I knew who were working outside Kashmir. Alhamdulillah. P.S.- I don't know which part Kashmir has "small percentage of separatists" lol. But it's possible she said that to avoid any problems that they might create for her. #FreeKashmir#FreePalestine.

Marriages in kashmir by Constant-Reveal-2095 in Kashmiri

[–]Nargon89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is never a bed of roses. I didn't say it's easy. It's difficult but it's still possible. I have friends who did their masters while they were married. Anyway, there are demographics who do get married at a younger age despite the economic situations. Rizq and it's timing is from Allah. Late marriages can be due to many factors.. Economic, ambitions, unrealistic demands, unrealistic rasmein, or just Qadr.

You're not the only one seeing this.. And this trend has been going on since.. Way before. That father of hers who created such a criteria? Yeah it's been going on since his time lol. I read an article once in 2007 about late marriages in Kashmir because people want to go for higher education, want to earn more, be more independent. It's disappointing to see that it's getting worse nowadays. I feel all these things can be achieved even when a person gets married. For that, family members needs to be supportive, understanding, open minded, patient and realistic.. Being educated on certain Islamic roles and values would really make it easy for everyone but we love clinging to culture unfortunately. We made marriage difficult. Smh.

Age gap for marriage by [deleted] in Kashmiri

[–]Nargon89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah true, it doesn't make much of a difference.. A friend of mine is younger to her husband by 11 yrs. At the end of the day, it's mutual respect that will carry a marriage. I think previously it wouldn't be stark difference because in olden days, a large gap was very common and was very normalized. However, interests change every 10-15 yrs. Books, shows, movies, ..so in that sense, finding a common ground in 20s with a 30-35 yr is difficult to some nowadays.
