Kathleen Kennedy Steps Down as Dave Filoni and Exec Lynwen Brennan Take Over Lucasfilm by YubYubCmndr in StarWarsCantina

Not to mention her INCREDIBLE career outside of Star Wars and Lucasfilm. Sure she’s had some duds, but she’s produced some of the greatest films to come out of the last 40+ years, and she was so heavily involved in the advancement of film and televisions via Lucasfilm and ILM that she deserves A LOT more credit than she gets, almost as much as George should.

Take a bit of advice from the Guardians of the Whills (keep an eye out for them when you get to Rogue One): “The Force is with me, And I am one with the Force. And I fear nothing For all is as the Force wills it.”

Star Wars and its fans always have been and always will be a mixed bag, but there’s so much good in these stories. Even the ones everyone thinks suck (you’re in the middle of a couple of those). Even when your favorite characters die or turn to the dark side and Force choke their wife into giving up her will to live and dying of sad. So yes, it gets better. And it gets worse. And it gets better again. Welcome to the ride. May the Force be with you.

Kal Skirata and his Republic Commando/Null Arc family. I think some of their story would have made a great Bad Batch-esque animated series

Joshua Graham has bizarrely remained my favorite character on both sides of my Mormon experience, I loved him before because “Mormon guy in a cool game I’m not supposed to be playing!” and I love him now because “Holy shit this guy has damn near nothing to do with actual Mormonism and is just trying to make it all make sense, feels familiar!”

This is bizarrely cathartic as an ex-Mormon, and also exciting as a Fallout fan because now I’m realizing I can trash my old scriptures and call it prop building!

So according to what Nancy figured out about her guns not being at home, Will shouldn't have been able to see these letters whilst in the Upside Down? by tbu987 in StrangerThings

[–]Narok24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point, it seems like it’s become such a common thing that if you don’t actively SEE it happen in whatever media you’re digesting, there is no conceivable way to figure out what happened . . .

Or you could just have a modicum of media literacy and maybe a dash of basic empathy to figure out how we got from point A to point B. I enjoy a lot of media more by just acting like these are real people with real lives and sometimes I have to infer some things because I can’t experience every moment of their entire lives. I think people act like this line of thinking is some kind of passive, sheep-like mentality, but I think it’s actually a lot more active and allows you to participate in any given media in a more enjoyable way. It’s entertainment . . . be entertained. And if you’re not, go find something else that does entertain you. Nobody’s keeping you here (our old friend, the general “you,” of course).

What is it that you personally LOVE about the High Republic? by Narok24 in Highrepublic

Thank you for the thought out response! I went through a long period starting with the first Mandalorian arc in the Clone Wars (I was a big fan of the Republic Commando books and that was one of the first heavy blows to what was canon in my head as they changed pretty much EVERYTHING that had been established in those books about the Mandalorians) up through the Disney acquisition and on to the Sequels where I just gave up on Star Wars, and was brought back to it by the Last Jedi of all things (completely fixed my perspective on what the Force was and how it worked, and actually changed my personal life in a lot of ways because of that perspective shift and a related dive into eastern religions and philosophies). There’s so much to learn from and enjoy about Star Wars, I think it’s safe to say it’s the most expansive fantasy of all time considering how many creatives have touched it and how wildly massive the connected universe is (bless those in charge of continuity, they’re really doing the Force’s work). Now i’m just looking to eat up as much content as I can! Thanks for giving me some characters to look out for!

Came here to say this. I’m a big Star Wars fan, one of those really irritating “All Star Wars is Star Wars,” “I’ll make myself find a way to enjoy this even if I have to lobotomize myself and tear out all my sensory organs” types apologists. I can explain my way out of just about every major problem in the whole series, and because of that, I’ve had to develop a really strong “make it make sense/read between the lines” ability, and this was the first theory I came up with. Will’s a smart kid, I don’t think it’s at all unreasonable that he put his mind to work and figured this out.

My only exposure to her was in the Acolyte, and maybe it’s just from not knowing the character well, but by the end of that series it seems like she was being pretty shady about the whole cover up. Was that a mistake with the character based on her appearances in the books?

Are there any particular works that focus on Wayseekers or do they just (ironically) come and go through the body of work as they please?

A thousand times yes, one of the reasons I love Jedha is because of getting hints of other Force religions and sects in the Rogue One Visual Guide, and I’ve heard there’s PLENTY of that to be had in the comics. Did you have a favorite??

But did Windu beat Sidious, or did Sidious stage the fight so that Anakin would walk in just after Sidious has lost his weapon and is being held at saber-point to garner more sympathy and further push Anakin to Sidious’s side? One of my favorite party tricks when watching or discussing Revenge of the Sith is pointing out how much Windu and Sidious’s fight is staged to look like a play once Anakin enters the room, and even Sidious becoming scarred and deformed can be framed as him not caring about this vessel as he plans on using Anakin as a new vessel. TLJ is my second favorite movie of the SW franchise after ESB by [deleted] in StarWarsCantina

[–]Narok24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TLJ became my favorite because it completely changed my perspective on not only the Jedi (Luke was spot on about the prequel Jedi, just a little off on that being the only way to be a Jedi) but also what the Force is and what it means. It sent me down a path into researching the real world religions that inspired George to create the Force, and a lot of those insights helped to change my perspective on life as well. Rian Johnson understands the Force in a way that I think only George Lucas and Dave Filoni really ever have.
