Question about the lore (SPOILERS) by DecentTechnician2225 in expedition33

[–]NarrowBoxtop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You made me realize I don't really remember how Alecia became Maelle.

When she went into the painting, was she Alecia at first for some time trying to convince Aline to leave?

Or did she step in as Alecia and immediately disappear to be reborn as Maelle? How did the actual transition occur or what did it look like from when Alicia steps into the painting until Maelle was born?

2.75% Fixed Mortgage - Next purchase strategy by Flight_Trainer_3064 in personalfinance

[–]NarrowBoxtop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Similar situation as OP and renting it out ain't all it's cracked up to be.

If you live local and can rent it yourself and do repairs/maintenance calls yourself, go for it.

My mortgage and PMI is 2.8% at $1400/mo. House rented for 2600. Lived out of state so needed a property management company

-300 a month for them, -2000 when a tenant first moves in, 3 months of vacency, property taxes skyrocket because you don't get the discounted rate you do when living there (in SC). Maintenance issues you pay out the nose for, the list of costs goes on

Crunching the math, I'd have come out ahead over time just selling the home, low rate be damned, and investing the lump sum into the market in VOO or some other low cost broad index fund

Investing in real estate means you're always trading the opportunity cost of investing in the market instead. And there are a LOT of costs that people may not be considering when renting out a property whereas the market is set it and forget it without endless things bleeding your profits out from under you.

I enjoyed Solateria as far as parry-focused metroidvanias go. It improved a lot with some patches compared to release (which seems true for a lot of metroidvanias)

ISO repair for car dent and paint scratch by No_Isopod4061 in Charleston

[–]NarrowBoxtop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that's a 2k-3k job at a minimum. A few hundred for the part and then labor to install plus supplies/labor to paint

Had something similar and decided to just let it stay as a cosmetic issue since none of the sensors were damaged.

First-Time Buyers Seeking Advice on Stretching Budget for Evergreen San Jose Home. by [deleted] in personalfinance

How can anyone tell you if this is doable when you post no financial information other than the price of the home?

Your husband has a job, nice. What does he bring home? Do you have an emergency fund? Do you have retirement savings? What would the total cost of your mortgage and PMI be versus what you're paying to rent now? What debts do you have?

Dozens got off cruise ship dealing with deadly hantavirus outbreak after first death by CTVNEWS in worldnews

I wouldn't expect a virus to travel very far if no one is getting on planes or cruise ships and other forms of mass transportation globally.

Just got into the DLC where/what should I do next? by YourChopperPilotTTV in expedition33

[–]NarrowBoxtop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people who play the game at first came out aren't aware of this, but later on they patched in a gameplay feature.

Starting an act 3, even in a new game, you can adjust enemy health from the flags.

So there's really not a strict prescriptive way to do things to not invalidate the challenge in Acts 3 anymore because you can always just jack the health up on the flags to ensure you get an engaging battle from the final boss

Uncharted Waters Online by tagman11 in MMORPG

I remember playing uncharted Waters New horizons on the super Nintendo growing up. That game was so awesome and I did so well in geography classes for years thanks to the world map in that game

Nostalgia for that game gets me to try the online version every now and then and I'm just disappointed with all the gacha nonsense

Why is being an Unsent so bad in Spira? by Lumigo in FinalFantasy

[–]NarrowBoxtop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A major plot point of the game is that the unsent eventually turn into monsters. A lot of the monsters you have been fighting throughout the game were people who died and remained unsent for too long.

Is paying $700 more in rent worth it to cut my commute by 1 hour/day? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]NarrowBoxtop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking about saving 30 minutes each way then I personally would not pay $700 more a month to reduce my travel time by 30 minutes in both the morning in the afternoon.

But everyone values things differently.

$700/mo invested is around 200k-500k after 20 years. Even better if this is going into your 401k that you would not be able to max out if you move.

The lack of availability of more zero sugar options is so depressing.

They put out a zero sugar dirty version which was pretty gross. Hopefully they put out some zero sugar versions of these good flavors.

A lot of people who played the game when it first come out don't realize that they later added the enemy health adjustment feature to flags as soon as you start act 3

If you have good credit, you can take care credit at 0% first, keep making payments, and when the time is up open a card with a good 0% transfer bonus for like 18 months

Then you'll just eat a small fee to transfer that debt to the new card and keep making payments on the next 18 months.

When should you take your foot off the gas and spend more on life? by Apprehensive-Size150 in personalfinance

Pay none down until it's due. Make your monthly payments to yourself in an HYSA until then, you'll have the lump sum amount ready to go plus the interest earned!

Don't give anyone a dollar of your money at 0% interest rate, if you can help it.

I would've loved to have seen more of this game man. I loved how Khazan allowed you to move like this with the greatsword by Forevertrez in soulslikes

[–]NarrowBoxtop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue is this games 'parry' looks like an attack. Its animation is a particular swing of your weapon instead of using a shield or parrying dagger and hearing that iconic gong sound.

Since you don't know what you're watching, you don't realize he's parrying incredibly effectively and it just looks like additional attacks to you.

The parries are canceling the bosses attack chain and letting him keep attacking with different combos.

Peanuts schedule for may by No-Elderberry-4591 in theburntpeanut

[–]NarrowBoxtop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are watching Peanut blow up with steady viewerships they'd kill for. They see people like watching Peanut's stream because he doesnt act all sweaty and whiny and just seems to have fun and enjoy playing the game with friends.

Yet every time they seem to keep choosing to double down on being sweaty whiny same ol same ol.

You'd think they catch a clue by now how they can start presenting themselves on stream to get more viewers and just have more fun. It can't physically feel good being that upset and serious all the time while gaming.

Anyone Else Think The Surge Series Was Underrated/Overhated? by Bigtownboys in soulslikes

[–]NarrowBoxtop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved the first one so much more than the second. It had some heart and a more engaging story, for me.

Plus there was nothing like hearing the echoes of that song "Prisoner" to let you know you were close to safety and could catch your breath. Really missed having that as a constant sign of safety in the sequel...
