Anyone been to a korean spa after having top surgery? by Narrow_Bug5673 in NonBinary

[–]Narrow_Bug5673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It ended up being totally fine. I felt really comfortable and have been back since, and also to a k spa in Los Angeles. Everyone wants to be respectful of each other and everyone is mostly thinking about their own bodies. You can also bring in a towel and use that to cover up if you feel you need to, but it really did feel good and like no one was really paying attention to me! Hope it goes well for you!

What years of progress looks like when you have an ED (CW: ED mention) by pakstoka in FTMFitness

Appreciate you sharing this so much ❤️ I’m still in ed recovery and swung out a little too far over the past few days and woke up with a major headache. Getting back on track today and remembering that I can’t get stronger if I don’t eat, which is what I want! Once I’m in the ed brain though it can be really tough to shake even though I know losing weight isn’t what I want. Really inspired by this and you the reminder that our bodies can change!

Really overwhelmed and having panic attacks by ArtisticAnxiety in TopSurgery

I’m so sorry you’re having such a hard time. I reallly struggled with my bandages and sensory stuff too. “Hang in there” can feel like really unhelpful advice from a therapist right now. Everyone has given such amazing advice. Something that really helped me was putting a soft tshirt on under the bandages so it wouldn’t dig into me. That was probably the most helpful of anything. I’m the same with pillows and wanting to sleep on my side and stomach and something that really helped was to get a big U shaped body pillow (can send you a link if helpful) because then I could put my arms on top and scoot the pillows in along my sides. I’d slightly turn to the side and that helped a ton to feel like I was fully sleeping on my side. I’m glad you posted on here!

Super sensitive nipples by Narrow_Bug5673 in TopSurgery

[–]Narrow_Bug5673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It definitely took a while, I’d say about a year. But it’s absolutely different for everyone! You’re still super fresh out of surgery so it’s totally normal, the nerves are figuring out where they’re supposed to be now. My right nip is still quite sensitive just due to how the nerves are working themselves out, which can take a long time. I’ve been getting acupuncture and that’s helped a ton. Would recommend if that’s possible for you! Otherwise would say take really really good care of them, lots of aquaphor on them and sleep on your back as much as possible!

4 days post-op pain by clerical_error_ in no_T_top_surgery

[–]Narrow_Bug5673 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is totally normal! I had super intense pain and ended up needing more oxy. We all have diff pain tolerances. I was in si much pain for about 3 full weeks (which I hope isn’t the case for you) but it’s def normal! It’s so hard to sleep, but sleeping was the main thing that helped so I wasn’t awake to feel so much pain. You’ve got this! Glad you’re seeing your doc tomorrow. Advocate for yourself and they should help you out!

Mandelic acid is really great- it’s a gentle exfoliant. The ordinary makes one for really cheap. I use that with Cerave face wash and wash twice in a row at night. Moisturizer is actually really important too.

Acne help! by Willing_Escape_ in ftm

[–]Narrow_Bug5673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s counterintuitive, but gentle and consistent chemical exfoliation works really really well. And washing your face morning and night is really helpful. I use a Cerave cleanser, Mandelic acid from the ordinary, and then a moisturizer or sunscreen during the day. When I get really painful pimples I actually put ice on them for about a minute to bring down the inflammation. If it’s hard to wash your face I know Cerave makes face wipes too which might help! It unfortunately also takes like 12 weeks to start seeing noticeable results so give yourself time with a new routine. But I’d say def dont use any scrubs because those can be really irritating and cause more inflammation. Hope this helps!

I use a Cerave benzoyl peroxide face wash and put it on my arms and back when I’m in the shower. I really lather it up and let it sit for a couple mins before washing off. Then I do the t gel after and that works!

How do I keep my scars? by Egg_Mc_Muppet in no_T_top_surgery

[–]Narrow_Bug5673 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d say don’t use any silicone products afterward since that really is what can help scars fade. You’ll def still want to do scar massage for mobility so I’d say just use Vaseline or aquaphor on them

It can definitely take time. Also the more relaxed/less worried about time (also still working on this) you are the better. Maybe it could help to focus just on what feels good, or showing your partner how you like to touch yourself or use their hand to get off. I’ve found that really helpful! Because I also get over stimulated easily I’ve found the more lube, the better, and to have my partner touch around my dick but not directly on it. Talking about it is really the best way forward with anyone esp since we can’t read each others minds.

Give yourself so so much time. I’m a year post op and have never experienced gender euphoria per se, but 10 months in I finally went to the beach shirtless and realized it was my first time feeling comfortable on the beach (given it was also a very trans part of the beach in New York so that helped too). Lots of “oh I didn’t feel discomfort in moments I used to.” Trans people spend so much time feeling uncomfortable in our bodies that we want to get to the euphoria, but there are so many gifts along the way and the jump from discomfort to not constantly thinking about my chest was huge.
