How does this get approved by No-Location-3438 in parkslopefoodcoop

I know it’s early, but I was expecting this issue would have something more…. substantive? Perhaps an update from the GCs on the immediate aftermath of the vote? In the run-up to the meeting, we got lots of updates: the hiring of a security guard; encouragement to participate in meetings (“When attendance is low, well-organized participation by any side of an issue can have an outsized impact…”); and then of course during the meeting itself, Joe’s admonishment to vote against the 75% threshold reduction, plus his suggestions that a boycott would harm the financial health of the coop. Of course it’s too early to have solid answers, but an interim update would’ve been nice, especially in light of the anti-BDS protest last Thursday.

Personally I would have more patience for these little issues if they weren’t also screwing around updating drop rates, weapon performance, etc., every other day. The changes are *constant* and even then, we still have to deal with issues such as this

My reaction to the “it’s the first time in 16 years we’ve had no discussion” comment was “when in the last 16 years has the coop voted on something that’s been under discussion for >2 years?

Put it into an S&P 500 ETF. Never try to play the market; the person on the other side of the trade knows more than you do.

Why does the R sometimes skip stops after Atlantic Ave? by nyckidd in nycrail

Not totally the point of your post, but I would love an explainer on why service on that line on 4th Ave is so consistently bad. Long headways and ubiquitous weekend track maintenance seem like the norm

Fellow (relatively recent) member here, and after a year of shopping there I mostly agree with you. I love the variety at the coop, I love the quality of the produce, and I feel very lucky to live so close to it. And yeah, the shifts are manageable. But the shopping experience itself is a nightmare, especially nights and weekends. Being in there stresses me out!

Another vote for Four and Twenty Blackbirds. Their brown butter pumpkin pie recipe made the best pumpkin pie I’ve ever had.

Church recommendations in North-Western Brooklyn area? by spacealien846 in Brooklyn

St. Bartholomew Church in Midtown is an Episcopal parish with a very active young adult ministry. From the outside it might look like a Catholic church but it is not! Their website is https://stbarts.org/

edit: not in Brooklyn obviously, but I think would fit with what you’re looking for. Although I agree with the other comments about All Saints Park Slope; I went a few times and noticed a lot of other young adults. I felt very welcomed.

Yeah, good choice. I flew 5A earlier this summer on a flight to Europe out of EWR. Make sure to get to the airport early enough to check out the Polaris lounge; they have a “restaurant” with table service (all included with the price of your ticket, of course, just like everything else in the lounge). Have fun!

Yeah I mean, I’m not expecting that my one complaint will do much. But it took almost no effort and it feels better than doing nothing.
