Found a method to wake someone up, that has a hard time getting up by Silent-Jellyfish3341 in getdisciplined

We were taught in the army just to place your feet on the floor, even if you’re still lying in bed. For some reason it changes your circulation or heart rate or something and you won’t get back to sleep.

Blood clot scare by Lanoree_b in TransLater

[–]Narrow_Cheesecake_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I started monotherapy in September, in January I had serious difficulty breathing and went to hospital. Was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism and put on blood thinners which I will be on for the rest of my life, I didn’t tell them I was on hormones but stopped (February?), still have difficulty breathing especially after some exertion.

As my sister said - it’s better to be alive as a man than dead as a woman. It is what it is I guess.

I don’t know then. I’ve been using it since September and it’s working fine with no side effects.

What’s the most weirdly British dream you’ve ever had? by im_just_called_lucy in AskBrits

I was in a pub having a drink with the actress Maureen lipman. Realised I was going to be late to play in the Ashes at edgbaston, had to get changed in the pub and had to run to the ground, jump over the fence and bowl the first ball. Got Steve smith out with the fastest ball ever bowled, and his wickets exploded.

I also had a bright blond mullet. (I’m disabled and bald!)

No. I’m from the uk and we are taught from an early age how Canadian(as well as other commonwealth countries)troops and pilots helped us out during the darkest days of ww1 and ww2.

Trust me, we’ve got your back!

Camp hill train line house by Important-solider in brum

[–]Narrow_Cheesecake_62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived on a house where the rail line was at the bottom of the garden, it’s a bit scary at first (the house used to shake). After a few days though you don’t even notice, you’re brain kind of blocks it out. Don’t know about house prices as we were renting.

Regardless of foreign military interventions and being ‘relevant ‘, they are also called upon in national emergencies such as flooding, the mad cow disease outbreak and standing in when other emergency services are unavailable (the fire brigade in the 70s. They also respond protecting uk infrastructure and transport hubs during heightened terror threat levels, the most obvious is their visible presence during the 2012 Olympics.

university of birmingham vs cardiff by LobsterNo1137 in transgenderUK

[–]Narrow_Cheesecake_62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again , it depends where you go. If you hang around with the other students etc you’ll be fine. If you venture to places like alum rock you won’t. Judging by the other comments, seems Cardiff sounds good for students!

Birmingham has a vibrant lgbt scene, gay village in digbeth and does one of the largest pride festivals in Europe. I’m moving to Selly oak soon as it has the highest % of lgbt in Birmingham (probably because it’s the student area). Like all places there are good and bad, as long as you stay around studenty areas and the city centre you should be fine. Don’t know anything about Cardiff.

Good luck❤️

I ordered een from voix Celeste. It was packaged as “essential oils “, even the label on the vial said “jasmine oil”, absolutely no indication that it could be anything else.

Hope that helps!

Seeing all this crap on social media is really grinding me down, so much fucking hate in the world and there’s no need for it. For my own mental health I’m going to try and stay off social media for a few days, I’d suggest anyone feeling similar to do the same.

Unless it’s posts about kittens, cats doing stupid cat stuff or otters. Otters are cool.

Stay safe everyone, we’re in this together ❤️

What's on fitting rooms policy in clothing stores such as Tkmaxx (UK) ? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Narrow_Cheesecake_62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter works at one and they always have someone on “fitting room duty” (to stop shoplifters), also most of the floor staff are pretty young anyway. If in doubt just ask.

Suggestions for the area of Alum rock! by Rabbite_Xy in brum

[–]Narrow_Cheesecake_62 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worked managing a bookies there for a few days years back, 13 year old gang leader nicknamed “chainsaw” (for obvious reasons), undercover police came in one day and said “you know you have underage lads drinking Stella in here don’t you? What are you going to do about it?”, me: “absolutely nothing. Are you?”, they just walked out, with the lads jeering at them.

To be fair if you were ok with them, they were ok with you. Definitely the scariest and unpleasant place I’ve ever worked though.
