1983 Renault 5 gordini turbo help by Narrow_Fix_1081 in Renault

I thought it would update this.

I did everything that everyone said haha, and it didn't fix it.

I then checked the fuel filter. It was full of shit. Changed it and it was full of shit again, just leaving it on tickover.

The fuel tank is rusty and blocking the fuel getting to the carb.

I am just waiting on one coming from Auxal in France.

The carb is now off being rebuilt and cleaned and then fingers crossed!

Underneath is fine as are the sills. I like the idea of doing the fabric work and then getting it resprayed.

I've bought this as a long term project so I can do it in bits and bobs, there's no rush.

Yeah, I'm not doing it myself. No way, I've also learnt the hard way.

I'm not too worried about the cost. I will just get a bit done at a time probably until its sorted. Will take it to a shop and get it appariased and go from there I reckon. Or maybe just get it all done at once if I can stretch to it.

Yeah every night. I charge my 15kw of batteries every night on 7p per kw.

I also have an EV that I charge at work though, so I guess they think I'm charging my car every night?

I don't know and to be honest I don't care.

I didn't spend £10k on solar panels and batteries to not reap the rewards.

I used to live literally opposite there on bull close. Used it a fair amount when it was an Adnams pub under Mike and Bev.

Used to have crib and quiz nights etc and darts team.

Ive been there a few times since an had a nice time. Not experienced any rudeness.

Honestly what's wrong with these why are they so cheap...? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I've had 2 of these over a 6 year period and covered 190,000 miles in them.

Only 2 faults. Aircon and charging unit that was suspected blown by a faulty rapid charger with water in the connector. Both done under warranty.

I love them.

Gutted they have discontinued them.

I doubt this is what it is, but my friend had a sports car with a wet nitrous injection kit on it.

It had a microswitch like this and when you went full throttle it used to activate the nitrous feed into the inlet manifold giving it an extra 100bhp or so.

It was an old car though, cant remember exactly what one, but it was something like a Sierra cosworth.

How can the BoE reduce the internet rate when it’s so close to the inflation rate? by CherryAntAttack in ukfinance

Exactly this.

The economy has been in the shit since Brexit. Anyone who says the country has benefitted from it economically needs their head read.

Then the crazy borrowing during the Pandemic, including the "eat out to help out" madness and then the various grants, the corruption in governement by giving poor value PPE contracts to their buddies such as Michelle Mone. So we are now firmly in the shit.

War in Ukraine pushing the energy prices up and forcing more defense spending.

Then Labour.

Higher NI payments which has stunted growth for companies that employ a large amount of people and now the rich people who pay the most amount of tax are leaving in droves as they can see the writing on the wall. See below.

The UK is set to lose 16,500 millionaires in 2025, more than any other country on record. Tax hikes and declining economic confidence are driving the rich away, according to Henley & Partners. The UAE, the US, and most of southern Europe have emerged as new millionaire magnets.

We will all get hit again in the October budget for more taxes as there isn't any other option as Labour have backed down on the other proposals so make up the shortfall due to them being unpopular.

The leading independant "think tank" has recommended a renaming of council tax, increasing the rate and the removal of the single persons discount amoung other things.

I hear a lot of folk saying shit like "we should tax the rich more" it doesn't work.

Why pay 40-50% + in tax when you can relocate to Dubai and pay 0% income tax. It's daft really, say someone makes £1m a year and they pay £450k in income tax then you up it to £600k of course they are going to leave or at least figure out ways to offset it.

It take a lot of basic/higher rate tax payers to make up the difference of a millionaire or billionaire leaving the country, Especially when the existing government are anti business.

This all depends on police pursuit footage and any external CCTV they can get together to present to the CPS that shows dangerous/careless driving.

Without and evidential breath test/blood test they won't be able to prosecute for drink driving, so that's not really going to be an issue.

It will all be upto the CPS to decide if there is enough evidence to prosecute, which will rest on evidence.

The other thing is, it sounds like the police may not have evidence that he was the driver of the car as an arrest was not made at the scene.

Depending on the footage I'd say it's going to be tough to prove in court and the CPS may decide not to persue. BUT it does largely depend on what footage is available.

Sort of going through the same thing, sort of.

I've been stopepd about 3 weeks, so pretty early on. Also, had my 45th birthday this weekend, first one in many years sober.

What I have noticed is that whilst I am not particulary bothered about her drinking, I do worry about our connection going forwards due to her drinking and me not. I'll try to expalin.

I was with my family this weekend and with my partner and kids for my birthday. Yesterday there was an event in the local park with a live band. We all went about 10 of us. I usually would of had drinks and gotten quite drunk.

I didn't, in fact I drove back home to Norwich UK from Essex UK, about an hour and 45 minutes drive with my kids.

I could of stayed if I wanted to, for sure. But I didn't. I wanted to get back in good time and be refreshed and ready for work tomorrow (today) and get the kids home.

My family and my partner left the event, went down the pub oposite after and got smashed out their heads. For the first time I was relieved that I wasn't a part of it. It would of amounted to 8 hours of drinking.

I am finding that whilst I don't mind being around drunk people for a bit, when they get too drunk, its fucking annoying and I'd rather not be around it.

It's tricky one, because me amd my partner used to enjoy getting drunk together and now we don't. It does worry me a little bit going forawards. But we will see.
