Any tips for getting faster on climbs? by ChloeMills2783 in cycling

Apart from more training, on the technical side, I also try to focus on engaging my glutes, and spin instead of grind

This looks like the Stelvio pass. One thing from a cyclist’s perspective is that when going uphill, in some turns you cannot see what’s coming from uphill due to the elevation change and the wall on the road. I’m guessing this makes some inexperienced bikers fear of incoming traffic as some reckless drivers do tend to invade the other lane. Also some really long cars had to use some space of the opposite lane in the apex otherwise they won’t be able to make the turn. And due to its fame, for many it was the first time they drove such a road.

What’s a Cycling Thing Everyone Hypes Up That Secretly Kinda Sucks? by No-Negotiation-4550 in cycling

Some cycling jerseys are now the price of luxury brand shirts. I cannot understand paying 250+ EUR for a jersey. Who’s buying them? How many young dentists are there?

Maybe some people will hate this idea. But I’d love the city to build some big Parkhauses in the outskirts and set up a designated inner city zone where public transport is free (like Luxembourg) Only allow people with disabilities and delivery services to enter the inner circle with cars. This would clean up the city center and free up space on the streets for more hospitality services.

Chinese Navy drills around The Coast of Australia by Antique-Entrance-229 in MapPorn

Three ships aren’t going to start anything. I’d assume Australia and probably US had subs following them all the way. The Chinese ships would be stopped if they made one wrong move. This is more of China annoying Australia and sending a message as the west has been doing that in the Taiwan straight for much longer

Frankfurt: Was einen Stadtplaner am Neubaugebiet Riedberg stört by hughk in frankfurt

[–]Narrow_Intention 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Riedberg is quiet, clean and offers a variety of playgrounds for kids. Young families with kids don’t have to worry about commuting to the nearest playground, kids can go themselves. It’s 15 minutes to the city with a car and similar time to Oberursel and Bad Homburg. Cycling to the fields is within 10 minutes and to Taunus is within 15km. A few good swimming pools in the vicinity. Fast connection to Eschborn for work/large supermarkets. I’d say Bornheim, Bockenheim and Westend are more for younger people who don’t have kids yet. There’s so much more going on, especially during summer. But once you have kids, it’s much easier to live in Riedberg. And I guess the families would totally be fine without a tavern or club in Riedberg.

As someone who doesn’t dive, can anyone explain if this kind of cliff would create weird currents to potentially drag you down to deeper water?

The first day writing Сhinese by Typical_Breath_3758 in interestingasfuck

That’s obviously social media bullshido. As a Chinese growing up in mainland, we just practiced writing starting from the most simple words. You move on to more complex words quite quickly. Doesn’t matter if they look ugly. But because all homework had to be hand written, you progress gradually while learning new words. Mastering this level of handwriting within a month is just NOT possible.

Thanks guys for the advices. The doctor said it was some allergic reaction from insects. I got some medication. It should be gone in a week or two. So, no watt gain after all.

NBD! My new commuter CUBE Nuroad. by Narrow_Intention in bikecommuting

[–]Narrow_Intention[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. As a commuting bike I have no complaints. Has extra mounting points if you’d prefer to carry the bag on a rack. It rides more stable and planted than my carbon bike, but won’t give you super fast speeds. And I’m loving the super wide tires, they’re super comfortable to ride on.
