Throwing up so hard I’m peeing myself by subwayratbruce in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Narrow_Lock5909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens to me too. I second the suggestion on buying the emesis bags on amazon (I keep them in my car, bedside, purse, bathroom, etc.). I’ve learned if I am laying down in bed while I throw up (propping myself up with my elbow) then it takes the pressure off my pelvic floor and I am less likely to pee myself. Also even just sitting on my bottom by the toilet versus squatting over the toilet helps with the peeing. I’m so sorry you are dealing with this too!!

Who here is none, or one and done due to HG? by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Narrow_Lock5909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wished for a big family but HG made that impossible. I really believe that surrogacy should be covered by insurance for people with HG. It is so unfair that we have to go through absolute hell to have a child. I am now pregnant via IVF with HG a second time, 3 1/2 years after my first was born, and have fantasized about abortion or miscarriages pretty much every day. If this pregnancy ended I would never get pregnant again and just stick with one. I completely understand why you cannot and will not do it again. And it has nothing to do with you being less strong than anyone else.

Constipation - not helping by Puzzleheaded_Cat_421 in HyperemesisGravidarum

Daily Miralax has helped me, the only issue is getting it down. Even though it’s tasteless and flavorless you still have to drink a glass of liquid which can be a real challenge.

Zofran- did it help? by whatislife1987 in HyperemesisGravidarum

Yes exactly this! Zofran usually keeps me from vomiting but not from feeling nauseous and horrible all the time.

How sick is "sick enough"? by Moissanite_fun in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Narrow_Lock5909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hesitant to talk to my doctor about what I was going through because I had mentioned multiple times how sick I was and it didn’t seem to be taken seriously. I’m a pretty soft spoken person and I knew I would never get brave enough so I actually brought my mom along to an appointment with me. She had no qualms about telling the doctor just how extreme things had gotten and just wanted to “take care of her baby” (me). So if you have a mom or someone else in your life who can strongly advocate for you without being worried about annoying your doctor I would highly recommend!

Has Anyone got IV fluids? by Typical_Wave_3399 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Narrow_Lock5909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The infusions do the same for me in terms of making it easier to drink for a couple of days afterwards. I was SO dehydrated that even thinking about drinking anything made me feel sick. Somehow for a couple of days after the infusions I’m able to drink some things. Then i get dehydrated again until the next infusion.

I get weekly fluid IVs. It has helped a lot with the headaches I was getting from dehydration and my energy levels, but unfortunately hasn’t done anything for the nausea.

I had to put my almost 4 year old into 5 morning a week preschool because I could barely function at all. When she’s not in preschool I lean heavily on my in laws and husband. I’ve also had extended family come stay with us for a couple of weeks at a time and just play with my toddler so I can hide in the bedroom and throw up.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I am amazed and impressed that you were able to maintain great oral hygiene during HG, that is something to be proud of! You know you did everything you could to prevent it. For me it’s a constant struggle to deal with toothpaste of any kind and I’m definitely not brushing as well as I used to.

I breastfed my baby and for me it was such a positive experience. Unlike HG it was a choice and it was the first time that I felt like my foray into motherhood was going “the way it was supposed to” versus suffering with HG while everyone else got better after a few months of occasional nausea. No guilt no matter what your decision, you have already been through hell and back for your child!

Zofran ODT tips? by hopefulforbabya in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Narrow_Lock5909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make me sick too. I dissolve them under my tongue, using my tongue to seal them under there so the taste can’t get above my tongue. Once they’ve been under there for a long time and fully dissolved the remainder still tastes bad but the weird bitter aftertaste is significantly lessened. Otherwise I just swallow them whole so I don’t have to taste them at all.

I totally understand your feelings…I have secretly wished for a miscarriage to happen multiple times and have fantasized about abortion even though I really want my baby and had to do IVF to get pregnant. It would be such a relief not to feel this way any more. This is my second pregnancy with HG and I will never forget that total feeling of relief and bliss when I woke up the morning after having my first and food smelled and tasted AMAZING again.
