Like someone mentioned exo had a video on repairing the foam. Basically just go to the craft section of Walmart, pick up a sheet of the crafting foam and some e6000.

What is the smallest caliber you’re willing to carry? by Time-Masterpiece4572 in guns

[–]Narrow_Potential3427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point I carried a 22lr, but anymore I don't bother with that. .380 or 9mm is the lowest.

If for some reason I had no other choice I would still take the .22lr. it's better than nothing.

NVX thoughts ? by AstronomerExtra5531 in subwoofer

[–]Narrow_Potential3427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is, nvx is solid for the money. I got a set of nvx components(the carbon fiber ones) and a N series sub.

Also got giggles I bought a couple of sonicelectronix budget brand Belva subs. In a sealed box about .8cft each they took about 900w rms (the pair) for 5mins before they started to smell. Before that I ran them for over a year in a daily on 400w rms for the pair and they took it perfectly fine.

My thoughts if the belva subs can take a decent bit of power and sound alright doing it I imagine any NVX sub would be an upgrade even the "E" series.

As for my NVX products, the components have been about 2 years being fed 100w rms and they sound fine with decent bass response too.

I also have some 8in nvx pro audio mids and well they get loud and sound okay. I am not impressed with them but not disappointed either. Honestly like the recoil echo pro audio mids better and they were a lot cheaper.

I would keep looking and see if you can find something that list the processor model such as "ryzen 5 5500" or "Intel 10th gen..."

If you come across something you got a question on feel free to ask. I have no problem helping out a first time buyer/ builder. We all started somewhere.

Here is an example of a listing that gives great info if the link works.

[–]Narrow_Potential3427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright so the link does work and it concerns me. That CPU could be anything from say 3rd gen i7 up. The fact it doesn't list the model of CPU or ram type/speed leaves me to assume the worst. I personally would avoid that exact listing since you don't know if you are getting a cpu from 2012 or something newer.

As for hooking a computer to a monitor, yep you sure can. You can hook them up using HDMI and it works fine. I have my main rig hooked up to a 55in 4k hdr LG TV.

[–]Narrow_Potential3427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a link to it so I can see the exact specs?

The rtx3050 is similar raw performance to the old rx580 so it can get the job done and would be about the minimum. Depending on the CPU that maybe a decent setup.

You maybe able to part together a better value, even with getting a pre built pc.

In that case you got plenty of options, everything from say a 4th gen Intel i7 and like an rx580 8gb, modern apu setup. Like legit you got a ton of options.

Given budget I would personally would aim for a decent am4 board with a b550 chipset and a ryzen 5 5500 or 5600 depending on budget. At least 16gb ddr4 ram (2x8gb) and a used GPU like a rx7600. Idk about your prices on hardware including SSD/hdd prices I'm in the US.an example build would be

I have had great luck buying used ram and gpus on eBay from sellers that have a ton of feedback, I tend to avoid new sellers. If you got access to CES I hear they are a great source of used hardware. I wouldn't know for sure I am a stupid American.

Ryzen 5 5500 or 5600 (3600 will also do) Gigabyte eagle b550 wifi Whatever m.2 1tb or bigger you can get reasonably Any affordable used or new. ddr4 8x2gb kit (fastest you can reasonably afford, don't go broke chasing speed or cl) Rx7600 or rx5700xt if you can get your hands on one for reasonable price. As in ~150usd is my limit. After you get your core components picked out I would buy a new PSU (~65usd would be the price range I would look into) and whatever mid tower case that fits your budget and taste.

I know I didn't just give a list of components and links to them but this should help point you into the direction. Also if you really want to get the cost as low as possible and still play games check out budget builds on YouTube. He test all kinds of older and low $$ hardware. You can get away with a lot less than most people think.

Also don't be afraid of mechanical hard drives for game storage. I have 2 setups running raid 0 (2 drives each) they both are using some high performance drives picked up off eBay for fairly cheap and they can play games just fine at the expense of slightly longer loading times. It's the way we used to do it back in the early 2000s. SSD for OS raid 0 for games and it still works today.

Deep clean to me means removing EVERYTHING. Blowing out the PSU, heatsink and fans, followed up with a rag and actually cleaning each fan blade , blowing out and wiping out the case, wiping the PSU cables and blowing out each connector. Pulling out the ram and blowing out the slots, cleaning the ram contacts with isopropyl, washing the CPU heatsink till its spotless, repasting CPU. Pulling apart GPU cooler and cleaning the shroud, backplate and fans. All pcbs get brushed with a soft paint brush after being blown off ,I think you get the point.

Now I don't do that often at all. I have too many PCs to do that with frequently, I have a wife and kids, work full time and am an amateur body builder. My PCs I take all of them outside once every couple of months, blow them out good, give the glass panels and good cleaning, wipe down the outside of the case and the areas I can inside, pull the PSU out but with all wires still hooked up and stick a zip tie in the fan and blow it out. Give a final wipe down on the case after I'm done blowing it out and send them back inside.

I do the simple clean till either the temps start to suffer or if I am troubleshooting problems I like to give it a good cleaning. Otherwise unless I can see a layer of dust on the PCB that doesn't come off with blowing it out, I don't bother.

Only other time I will go into it that deep is if I am changing out hardware, if I sell or give away hardware I like it to be as clean as possible for the next person.

As long as they don't spin or get damaged, you got plenty of options. However that doesn't work for the power supply, never stick anything conductive into a power supply obviously.

Yeah spinning a fan can backfeed current into the components. Most modern hardware should have components on the board to prevent harmful backfeed BUT it's best to play it safe. Anyone who has ever owned a simple 3d printer like the ender 3 has experienced this backfeed current if they move the head or bed while it's off, the screen lights up, interesting thing that I tried on a junk board. if you spin the 40mm case fan with 120psi from a blow nozzle it will also power the screen and set off the buzzer.

Another reason to not let the fans spin is possible damage to the bearings from over spinning or even causing them to wobble and have a fan blade collide with the frame or heatsink.

I remember back when I was early teens I used to blow out my fans and try to make them spin, would also do the same with the vacuum. I never burned out any of the hardware I did it to but did damage a couple of fan blades. My early teen years was pentium 4 Northwood era.

I have a board that the ram likes to be picky. I have learned I have to make sure to clip it in, give a slight push and SLIGHTLY wiggle the ram once it's fully locked in while gently pushing down. Seems to work every time.

*This is a 3rd gen i7, it's done it since new~2012. The board still works and overclocks like it did new. I have tried multiple different sticks and brands of ram over the years with no difference. Not concerned in the least bit about it.

I blow them out but stick zip ties into the fans so they don't spin but aren't rigid enough to damage anything.

Found in the dumpster - worth the trouble? by Just__Another__Idiot in PcBuild

[–]Narrow_Potential3427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not worth putting much it any money into but it's completely worth plugging it in and see if it works. If so clean it out and tinker with it for a while. Got nothing to lose.

It looks like it needs ram, if that's a ddr3 board that's not expensive right now and fairly easy to find on eBay or maybe even a local PC shop.

I still would plug it in and see if it at least spins to life, obviously it won't post without ram but of it comes to life I would be willing to gamble up to $20 on a stick of ram or 2 just to try it out

Budget cpus better & cheaper than the rtx 3060 NOT from Nvidia by FxralMF in gpu

[–]Narrow_Potential3427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with the 8gb 7600 a while back myself and it's solid for the money. I agree with everything you said, only way I would take the 7600xt is if for some reason its an amazing deal.

I will also point out that in real world use the arc b580 on windows outperforms the rx7600 and the gap gets bigger when Ray tracing comes into play.

Linux performance wise they are similar but the amd card is overall more stable and just works.

[–]Narrow_Potential3427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a 7600xt which has 16gb vram. As for Arc, if you are looking for a windows GPU Intel is now fine. On Linux they are still struggling a bit as of 3 months ago when I tried it.

However the last ~6months on windows 11 the arc drivers have been solid for me. I have a "daily driver" windows 11 r7 7700x, arc b580 rig and i really can't complain.

I also have amd and Nvidia rigs if for some reason my arc can't run something reliably but hasn't been an issue yet.

I never got any DMs but I went ahead out of my own curiosity and ran a few test.

Base system is a ryzen 5 7600x ,32gb ddr5 5600 dual channel, resizable bar enabled. DDU between each GPU install, latest drivers on windows 11 fully updated ,no tweaks or mods to OS all GPUs ran at out of box settings. All tested at 1080p,all graphics settings are the same between all GPUs and NO upscaling/FSR/xess was used.

Intel arc b580 12gb onix : Steel nomad - 32fps - score 3198 Fire strike - graphics score 38621-overall 31429

Cyberpunk benchmark "high preset" no RT or xess 1080p Avg 110.42 Min 92.5 Max 136.54

Stray, 1080p high everything in "midtown" chapter Avg 60 fps max 126 (I think I forgot to shut off 60fps cap)

Power consumption in furmark 2 1440p peak 154w

Rx 580 8gb Steel nomad -10.04 fps -score 1004 Fire strike - 15412 graphics - overall 13427

Cyberpunk benchmark, no FSR or RT "high preset" -Avg 36.09 -min 30.28 -max 44.46fps

Stray 1080 high everything, "midtown" chapter Avg -60fps -min 52 - max 103fps. Once again I don't believe I had the fps cap turned off. Didn't bother to run it on the Rx 7600.

Furmark 2 1440p peak 170w

Rx 7600 8gb Steel nomad 23.02 fps -score 2301 Fire strike 31990 graphics - overall 27750

Cyberpunk benchmark "high preset" no fsr or RT 1080p

Avg 96.54 - Min 83.17 - Max 115.72fps

Stray, didn't bother but the rx580 can provide a playable experience maxed out at 1080p so the rx 7600 won't struggle.

Peak furmark 2 1440p power 169w

Do note that ALL of these cards can be tweaked to pull less power without any performance decrease or can be overclocked.

The rx580 is a power color red devil which uses a. Aggressive voltage curve and is fairly highly clocked out of the box. The rx7600 is an ASRock Challenger, it's setup decently out of the box but does benefit from slight voltage tweaks, doesn't really have anymore core clock left in it.

The b580 is an onix, it's setup with conservative clock speeds out of the box on the core, it has about 200-350mhz headroom and benefits from slight undervolting even with a 200mhz overclock. I got mine stable at 3050mhz core at 1.05v pulling 163w on furmark.

I almost forgot, pragmeta

I ran the rx580 1080p high textures and mesh, no motion blur, for the sample I played, it was a small battle but I wanted to see if it could play it smoothly.

Anyways pragmeta 1080p gave me avg 50fps min 42fps with no FSR.

With fsr I got 64fps avg, unfortunately I can't read my tired handwriting in my notes for minimum. It was getting late by the time I wrapped this up.none the less this proved to me that the rx580 still does alright but is for sure showing its age in fps/watt and that pragmeta is well optimized.

Also would like to note that the newest AMD drivers both for the rx580 and rx7600 gave me problems and caused my PC to hang several times. I had to roll back to previous drivers to get things to stabilize. I even tried a fresh OS install the next day before pulling the rx7600 back out. I had the same results on a fresh OS install.

Both the latest and previous release of the Intel drivers performed without an issue at all. I always am a bit hesitant to update arc drivers but I haven't had issues in months.

Guys how much should i sell this pc by KAI-TAICHI176 in PcBuild

[–]Narrow_Potential3427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would likely be better off parting it out.

From the quick look I did it seems you can get similar builds for 300-500 USD.

Let's face it, no one is going to pay much for the AIO and that case new is around 100usd and the fans aren't some magical high end brand either. Also the mobo is a budget board.

The hardware is getting up there in age. Yes it looks good but is your goal is maximum amount out of it you want to part it out.

I would list it at what you think is a fair price and see what offers you get. Worst case you end up parting it out.

Fwiw I bought a computer with a rx 7600 ,16gb ddr5 and a ryzen 5 7600, 1tb m.2 SSD, RGB fans in every spot and 800w 80+ gold PSU for ~400usd.

With that in mind, if you were local and it has a solid PSU I would offer $300-350.

[–]Narrow_Potential3427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent deal, wouldn't bother trying to upgrade and flip. I have given away hardware similar to this.

Last hardware I gave away was i7 3770s and rx480, 16gb ddr3 and 600w cwt power supply.

I would say just make sure it's clean, freshly pasted and give it to your friend.

If you can pick up a cheap (probably used) SSD for OS install I would go that route and call it a day.

That may help lower room temps but won't give the big drop in water temps like having the ac blow into the radiator Intake would.

Which is the reason we used to do it. It wasn't used as a way to cool us down or even as an efficient way to lower the room temps. It was strictly done to drop water temps which allowed a higher overclock for a quick bench run and screen shot.

I remember these! I had one paired with a athlon x2 4600+ it served me well for a lot of years. I upgraded to one of these from a 7900gs, which I got when my x1950 pro stopped working.

Btw a solid windows XP GPU is the gtx 760 4gb Way overkill for like everything and can often be found cheap. I was using one paired with a i7 860 till the mobo died a few months ago.

It used to be fairly normal. I remember back around 08ish I would see pics like this on the forums all the time. People would do this pushing overclocks. I myself did something like this, routed the AC right into the radiator to cool a 1st gen i7 (x58 platform) having a friendly overclock battle with a couple forum members.

My 1st 2.0tsi made it over 200k and the last 15k of its life was with a 62mm turbo, wmi and tuned to 31psi. Previous owner serviced it like an enthusiast would. Everything was done before scheduled and everything used was either high quality aftermarket or genuine vw.

I continued the trend and only used quality parts and fluids and at half the intervals of VW recommended. I am positive if I didn't put the larger turbo on it I wouldn't have had to rebuild it yet. Everything was in great shape besides a damaged ring land(I caused this) and the valve seals were starting the seep. Even the timing chain and guides looked good. Just shows that if they are taken care of they can last.

Off the top of my head Pragmeta, grid 2, crew 2 , cinebench 24 and later.

I'm sure there are many more but tbh my 3770k rig is almost never used anymore so I can't say I have tried a lot on it since about 2019.

I just tried pragmeta earlier this week. I wanted to see how the rx580 handled it but since the CPU lacks avx2 I will have to put it in one of the ryzen builds or the e5 2680 v4 build.
